That is a truly impressive gatehouse! Glad to see that the expert Kaliphlin stonemasons have done a good job, but still managed to keep the aesthetics firmly Avalonian

Great idea using old official sets for Historica's mythical past -

Smaller towns might definitely be specialized in a certain area (for example due to natural resources nearby), but larger cities of course have a more varied mix of craftsmen and traders. Generally, if you build quality MOCs showing what your settlement is producing no one will contradict that claim -

Ok, my question was basically if a Ruadhi (correct term?) artist might have set up a workshop in Barqa and can appear in a Barqan MOC some time. Am I interpreting it correctly that the answer is yes if some wealthy patron in the city has employed the artist? -

Welcome Siedna! Do I understand it correctly that there might be artists from Ruadh settled in various other cities in Kaliphlin? -
(Didn't I comment on this already?) Very nice mount, quintessentially Avalonian I especially like how you did the antlers and the legs.

Excellent build! I love the blend of the brick parts with the natural rocks and turf

Great build and story! -
Lovely statue and nice tree! I agree however that they would have been better separately.

Very nice minifigs and sand technique! I think you still need to work on your photography however, maybe backing away with the camera and zooming in instead would eliminate the blurriness? (Provided that the cause is that the camera is too close to the figs and can't focus)

Very nice comeback! Looking forward to more modules Regarding the photography, a white roller curtain/blind from ikea does a great job for me as a backdrop. -
I think the convex corners look nice, but concave corners are trickier I assume? That's also the case with 75 degree slopes however...

Excellent job RA writing all of those builds together! And great job both teams, that was an impressive collection of builds -
A nice piece of palisade and well done snowscaping. I also like the color variations between the logs. Obviously not one of your more noteworthy builds, but knowing what is coming gives it a context that makes it greater than it's appearance

Great to hear that the Kaliphlin craftsmen are making good progress there I also used to be very keen on not keeping my bricks tied up at all, but a couple of lugbulks later it's great to be able still be building even though a big build is still assembled for display. But with moving to mostly tan I'm back to recycling asap after photography Houses are great for having room for more lego than an apartment, but I agree that all the maintenance work and costs suck... Time and money which should have been better spent elsewhere -
Very suitable sized wall for the first stone wall around a town! The slight angle of the wall and the small "hanging" tower adds a lot here

Excellent phase 3 entry, this is the way to go! My favorite part is how well you've done the angled parts at the bottom of the wall and tower.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Posts about post count does not add anything to the thread imho. Regarding the ideas, I think it's great with ideas and also that they can be discussed here. How we want Kaliphlin to be is definitely ontopic in this thread in my opinion. I'm a bit cautious however about the way it is turning as I see no reason for any major steampunkish elements to emerge here. Don't get me wrong, I love steampunk and when it's mixed with fantasy (eg WoW), but that's not really where I'd like Kaliphlin to go. Of course there are some contraptions created by the scholars, alchemists and magicians of Kaliphlin which might look like steampunk (like Robuko's heliotropes) but those have never been and probably never will be part of everyday life (not least because of the high cost of the rare materials and skilled craftsman work needed). If you think medieval Middle Eastern, Byzantine or Mediterranean, with a not to large pinch of fantasy, you have a good idea of where to start exploring Kaliphlin. -

Composite bows would definitely fit the Kaliphlin setting as large sections of suitable wood would be scarce and force us to have invented composite bows I've actually thought of my black bows as composite shortbows Edit: I confused compound bows with composite/laminated bows. Don't know if compound bows are too modern or if a few strong but expensive and fragile compound bows would be ok in the GoH setting?
