  1. Great use of those minifig hairpieces! Nice to see that the aftermath of Ska's and Scarst's epic battle is resounding among the GoH community
  2. Thanks! Not intending to kidnap the thread, I just realized the similarity and couldn't resist pointing it out I guess it does well for inspiration for the setting for the Kragg however?
  3. Congratulations to topic #100000!! Oh, and nice build I like that tree that is about to fall. The ground by the fallen tree could have used a few more small plates for detailing, and I also would recommend extending the plates at least a stud over the edge of the baseplate. It looks a bit weird when you have green underneath the dk brown (which I assume is supposed to be the soil).
  4. The first link is not to the first post in the topic, it should be just http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=100008 (and not the ...#entry1997217 at the end). Just making the remark because I've seen this happen a few times recently from different builders. (Cool that EB has reached 100k topics btw! My sigfig intro was #79999 just 1.5 years ago, so 20k topics in just 18 months.)
  5. Any connection btw between Zar-Ifrikt in the Rakath mountains and the Castle Zar in the same mountains, where our valiant forces defeated the invading orcs in the Revolword war? (I guess not, but I had to ask in character of course ) Castle Zar
  6. Your old fig was quite quick getting in that post so I think Ska will do it soon if he has read this and has time I realized btw after I had already responded in this thread that you have another thread for feedback...I'll try to keep it there in the future. (as I myself get irritated when the guild threads are spammed by feedback on MOCs which have their own thread )
  7. Scary sigfig! I don't think I've said it, but that helmet looks great He is a bit out of focus on the upper picture, but the second one is crisp and clear, except for the weapons which are closer to the camera and get blurry.
  8. Very nice build, I really like those minifigs! (Is that backpack Lego...?) Some suggestions for improvements: I think the dark orange looks a bit out of place, a path in a landscape like that would more probably just be gravel/bare stones of the same color as the rocks (dk bley here) based on my experience of the Scandinavian and Irish mountains. I also think that some more of the olive/dark green (for example cheese slopes) on parts of the rocks would make the vegetation more realistic. Finally, I find the water a tad too repetitive with round plates. If it is supposed to be a moving surface maybe some color/structure variation is in order...otherwise I think tiles/snot clear bricks/panels work better for a small pond.
  9. Some challenges might have restrictions on using non-lego parts.
  10. Truly great work with this battle, not least the excellent epilogue! Already looking forward to the next battle If the undertaking of a battle of this scale is a bit too heavy I'd rather see several small battles than rare big ones
  11. Not at all!! I was just referring to that the Drow had been called protagonists by a Nocturnian
  12. Really nice prologue builds and story! I'm staying tuned for more of this (and keep my fingers crossed I will have time to build when the actual challenge happens). A matter of perspective I suppose
  13. Nice little house and fountain! A privy is such an obvious detail, but I keep omitting it in my builds because it seems so hard to build well... Good job!
  14. Compressed gas (like this) used to clean for example electronics. Somewhat pricey, but great at getting rid of dust which is stuck to Lego bricks
  15. This tower seems perfect in the setting, and the landscaping looks very appropriate too! My only nitpick is that gaps in the background are visible in some pics.
  16. Excellent build! I like that you are scaling up Shadowmere like this, and still keeping the level of detail The minifig posing, landscaping and both the black and dark gray parts are great. However, I agree that the gate hinges look a bit flimsy. Maybe if the gate was allowed to swing in only one direction it could be attached without gaps? I think btw that you've done a good job in photographing the black, which is notoriously hard to do. A small piece of advice is to remove the dust on the build prior to shooting. I use both canned air and a vacuum cleaner with a net.
  17. Not to the source of the Lick of Salt, if that is what we are discussing. Qarkyr is located further south, along the first stretch of the Qar-Akhen river. In the map above of north-eastern Kaliphlin Sultan's Gate is located where the road passes the Great Escarpent, north of the (unnamed?) city located where road crosses the Lick of Salt. I don't think that water purification on the scale needed for agriculture is feasible with the technology in Historica, so if you want to have a major settlement located next to that lake I would say that at least the streams from the mountains which are feeding the lake should be fresh water. It is also possible that a significant amount of the precipitation (which lands mostly on the eastern side of the mountains) falls in that valley due to the topography and that it in itself is enough to support the agriculture there. The lake itself may be either way, it could be that the lake sits on a part of the salt deposit and that its water therefore has at least some salinity. The climate down in the valley is probably quite warm, at least during large parts of the year. Higher up in the nearby mountains there is surely snow in winter and probably even some glaciers on the shady sides at high altitudes
  18. Looks like a great location to me! (If no one has built there already?). By that lake might be a good area to support a sizable but still quite isolated population, as I think at least some of the meltwater from the snowy summits of the Rakath flows down there and can be used for irrigration. Is the lake salty or is the salt picked up along the way as the river runs through salt deposits? The closest larger city as far as I know would then be Sultan's Gate atop the Great Escarpment (not shown on this old map however)
  19. Nice rock and how the structure blends into the natural formation! Unlike Kabel I think that the background looks great UoP +1 for the roof, but I have to agree I'd like to see some more to approve the round wall credit.
  20. Very nice build! I especially like that well
  21. Very nice build! As others have said, great idea with that shady figure outside
  22. I think a good start is not to focus on the stereotypical colors for the guilds but rather on the characters you want to create. I can easily think of snowy Kaliphlin builds (Rakath mountains), sandy Avalonian builds (there must be a lot of beaches along that long coastline), green Nocturnus builds (swamplands can be quite lush) and black Mitgardian builds (there is a lot of darkness and various kinds of rocks in those miles and miles of Dwarven tunnels).
  23. Congratulations Mike! With this much advance notice count me in for at least a small/mid-sized build
  24. Very nice combination for the rider
