Thanks for all the positive comments Working on commission is definitely interesting. It set more boundaries for me since I had to fulfill the wishes of the customer as well as my own. I normally would never put so much detail in the car. The car is already in the box, so unfortunately I can't take up your offer, but thanks anyway Well, since you live outside time & space I am sure can you strike a deal with my buyer and have a parallel dimension copy of it (and otherwise you can always PM me for another iconic car for your collection) You're still way ahead of me on that path... But I like the experience so far The interior is a copy of the real one of my customer. So I had not much choice. Luckily those small panels were just released in tan. No video I'm afraid, the car is already packed in the box for shipment. I am working on the DB11, but then the Rebrick contest came along, and then the pneumatic contest was more interesting, but before I could finish that this assignment came along. And the next assignment (a McLaren) is already taking shape on my desk... Still I have every intention to finish the DB11. So if I do not get new assignments it will be the next project after the McLaren. Credits to crowkillers for that. Since the width of the car was so limited I had to use the floating differential concept he showed a few months ago. You'll have to thank my customer for that, he wanted this specific car. But I must admit that once I started on it I just couldn't stop working on it. I first had the intention to finish my AT-AT for the TC10, but this beauty hooked me completely...

Great contest, very difficult to vote: 32 : 10 19 : 6 16 : 4 20 : 3 11 : 2 33 : 1 And for all the entries I didn't gave points, you rightfully deserve the pneumatic tag!

Hi, I'd like to present to you my latest MOC, the Ferrari 308 GTSi: 4 wheel independent suspension with anti-roll bars (the yellow parts in the picture below:) Front suspension with realistic setup (kingpin inclination, Ackermann, caster) Pop-up headlights (operated with the lever in the dashboard) 3+R gearbox (with shifter in center console) Detailed V8 engine Opening doors Opening trunk Opening hood (with button in the dashboard) Adjustable chairs (forward/backward + tilting backrest) Removable rooftop I build this car in commision with an exclusivity agreement. So there will be no building instructions available for this model. If you are interested in commisioning a model yourself please send me a message or an email: jjottens (at) onsmail.nl (replace the (at) with @) Comments and questions are most welcome as usual. [MOC] CLAAS LEXION 760
Jeroen Ottens replied to eric trax's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh wow, what a beauty! How long did it take you to design and build this (was it only 11 months)? -
Excellent entry. I love the fact that you replicated the real steamlocomotive mechanism for this. And it shows that those trains needed railtracks to keep them straight

Let me join the choir that sings the praise of this model. I build it yesterday and it was a phenomenal joy to build. So many nifty, well thought out solutions. And when finished, such a beautiful model to look at. I might even keep this one assembled for more than a few weeks...

[MOC] Mecalac MTX
Jeroen Ottens replied to proran's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is a beauty of dense design. Too bad the friction is so high that you had to gear down (which introduces even more friction I guess). At the end you mention that you use the old gear + old bushes to couple the gear directly to the axle. But I am at a loss what you mean with that. Can you elaborate?- 42 replies

Not a lot of progress, even for your standards indeed. I hope you get your balance back in due time. Looking at the wear and tear of that table I sure hope you have a sturdy laptray... Is lego building the only thing that happened to that poor table? -
New elements spotted so far: is there a new 1L wormgear on the telescope loader (at the top of the telescope)? And maybe they use a pinhole with two axles on both sides at the same location... 11x3 curved in dark blue on the ship 4x4 bent in white on the ship as well

[MOC] Demolition Excavator
Jeroen Ottens replied to Triswa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe if you use two long Lego cilinders end-2-end like in the Mk1 crane you can get enough stroke with legit lego only and are you able to enter TC10... -

This one I was looking forward to . I still don't have this set myself, but following your buildthread will be almost as good -
[TC10] AT-AT
Jeroen Ottens replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks everybody for all the encouragement I'll stick with the AT-AT for a while longer. GroundskeeperWillie made me think about the sequencer. At this moment I use only 4 states for the whole machine. However it is quite easy to get 8 states without even adding extra cilinders & valves. (each upperleg has 2 states, so I can make each leg movement trigger only one other leg to move). As a consequence there will always be at least 3 legs on the ground. That should help with the stability. I could even add 2 more cilinders & valves and increase the number of states to 12. Then the raising of the lower leg can become a separate state (in the current 8 state version I have on paper a lowerleg will lift while one of the other upperlegs moves forward or backwards (note to myself: tinker some more in the statemachine to only combine lifting a lowerleg with moving an upperleg backwards)). So thanks for helping me over/through my builder's block I'll keep you posted on the progress -
WoW, beautiful! Very sleek design which is even more impressive when you see how it can be taken apart.

[TC10] AT-AT
Jeroen Ottens posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, Here is my progress so far on my attempted entry for the pneumatic challenge: I am trying to build an AT-AT walker, but is proving to be very, very challenging ... The mess of tubes inside the structure are part of the pneumatic sequencer that control the legs. For each leg four phases are defined: 1) Whole leg backwards 2) Bend knee to lift lower leg 3) Move leg forward & straighten knee 4) Move straight leg backwards The four legs are kept out of phase with each other to keep at east two legs straight at all times (either forward or backwards). In fact the sequence is not ideal, since 2 out of the 4 phases have a leg in the air (2+3), while idealy only one phase should have a leg in the air because then there are always 3 legs supporting the weight. What definitely not helps is the hopelessly high center of gravity combined with a ridiculous small base for the feet. With a manual pump I can make the whole assembly walk to some degree (well, walk, let's call it stumbling forward), but after a few steps it usually topples over sideways. When I add the batterybox and a small pump it doesn't even move the legs when I lift the model in the air. Apparently one small pump does not build up enough pressure... So, decision time... Option 1) Continue with the model (I do have some cool ideas for the head still including a simple return to center mechanism for rotating the head ). Solve the pressure issue with either more small pumps or by going manual (saves weight as well) Option 2) Abandon project and go for a six-legged walker (AT-TE) which is much less of a challenge, but has therefor also a much higher chance of actually working in the end. What would be your advice? Jeroen -
Hi (I assume you meant me with Knight ) I tried to send you a PM (Personal Message), but unfortunately you do not have enough posts (10) yet to use that system. You can send me an email at jjottens (at) onsmail.nl to discuss in more detail how my model could get you started. The 42009 is definitely a good starting point. If you have 2 of these plus the Arocs you have 75% of the parts I used in my version. Jeroen

It all depends on the scale, looks and the functionality you want to incorporate. Scale: Based on either the standard lego truck wheels (61.4 mm) aka 42009 scale or the huge Unimog tires (very challenging to get a working boom at that scale) Functionality: Basic functions (steering, slewing, rasing, extending boom, extending outriggers) or all out (raising, rotating, tilting operator cabin, double cable drum, raising counterweight, extending spreaders on boom, extending legs on boom, crab mode steering, etc.) and then the choice manual vs electric Looks: Technic finish or model team finish (system bricks) If you want 42009 scale, technic style finish, all out functionality I can help you with a starting point: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89963&hl=liebherr

Grum's Shed
Jeroen Ottens replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As always your pictures take me down memorylane. I had forgotten how many hingeplates were used in this build (but it does explain why I have so many of them ). Great build, looking forward to the endresult. You do yourself proud. Again. -
Aah there goes my plan to rename my DB11 to DB9 (since, hey, who can spot the difference anyway?) and then make the rearhatch pneumatically controlled

Well... I do have an X-wing as a legacy to live up to... But I first go on vacation, so buildtime will be limited this time...
