  1. fantastic have been wanting a monorail to go in our shop display this would be great, mmm might have to build one and pull the train out.....
  2. wow very impressive great work
  3. Awesome work thank you for sharing, it's good to know I can use the PF motor to run my 9V's when they eventually run out life
  4. I really don't reckon much to these figures, cant they do some Galidor type limbs torso's for the human figures, Bionicle / HF is fine on general grevious etc and for the armour on the troopers but on a human it just looks poor,
  5. Dont forget this figure too.... the best LEGO super Hero
  6. In other hobbies re-releases is a big part of business Tamiya (especially in the RC world) are renowned for there re-releases (with a few improvements and changes so you can still tell the original and re release apart) and fans cant get enough as used prices are stupid and spare parts are impossible to find, yes it does hurt the pockets of a few unfortunate collectors who have invested in certain models but prices do go back up once the re-releases are sold out, They still inovate and bring out new stuff, but nostalgia is a Massive seller for the brand. I know its not LEGO's thing really but cant we all just accept it as we are not going to change it been released by complaining voice your opinion but some of the comments in here are laughable.
  7. Super stunning brick work fabulous.
  8. it can take a while, I have ordered on a Friday and had it arrive on the Monday 3 days later (which is really good for free shipping) but it can take over a week sometimes.
  9. That's fabulous, looks just like the rocket from the book, I have the Destination moon book, tin tin is ace, !
  10. Gotta say its a LEGO forum, post this on a Playmobil forum and the replies would be different, I buy and sell retro toys for a living in a shop we run and most people would agree that LEGO and Playmobil, Brio trains, Britains (& Sylvanian Families for the girls) are all great quality toys that have stood the test of time. I buy and sell both and played with both as a child, Playmobil always comes incomplete with parts missing there are places to buy spares but most stuff is unusable unless your willing to spend its value on spare parts, at least when someone brings LEGO into the shop I can sell it in parts on bricklink or just as a random bag of bricks as its still usable and can be enjoyed for generations. LEGO wins, but I still love Playmobil, happy memories....
  11. Just got a load of LEGO today and realised the LEGO was all in this lovely big bag, BONUS I'm thinking this must be pretty rare now, does anyone know anything about them have looked online and cant find any anywhere?
  12. thanks everyone I am using the LEGO 12 volt for the lights (and also the scalextric car) and the LEGO 9v for the train, It has been much better with a smaller and lighter load (the rail road car is not the best but it was a little different and I applied a drop of oil to each wheel and it wasn't a problem (I wish I could have a longer train but its not happening) the train pictured has been the happiest but I keep changing the rolling stock and engines etc for variety. thanks for the help guys n girls
  13. Great love the thomas and james, Percy is a darker green and only has four wheels (0-4-0) rather than the 6 you seam to have if you changed it they would be awesome, love the concept of this been a train set for the mini figure sat in the overview
  14. great moc would love that running round our shop window something a bit more futuristic
  15. really awesome MOC love it
  16. i did lightly oil the motor as that was my first thought, Yesterday I tried my little shunter going around with a small load behind it, and it was fine despite the heat, so I think I need to just lighten the load and all should be well.
  17. Thanks Everyone, train motors are really hotting up when its sunny, (the Maersk train seems to be the worst culprit but also the heaviest,) but happily run all day when the sun is less bright, like today, a timer would be okay but want it going as much as possible, but maybe I can give them a few 5 minute breaks in the afternoon when sun is at it's hottest, A fan could work (I have a wind turbine on it's way from bricklink, shame it hasn't got aerodynamic blades as if it did it would work as a fan) Maybe a little motor driven windmill could work placed next to the track with the right elements, .
  18. cool bunch of figs and back story I wonder what there space craft is called and looks like?
  19. Hi all, we have a few 9 volt trains that race around our shop window and it's great, passers by love it and so do we, however on a hot sunny day (like today) they keep stopping due to the motors overheating. I know I could just stop them or swap them over more frequently but its not the highest priority when trying to run a business, any help with reducing problems running for extended periods would be great if anyone has any tips.
  20. that 6th picture is amazing could be real awesome work so many great details
  21. Awesome, But I'm sure they will ruin it,
  22. Yes, but there is are 3 mold variations of the classic flower, (its not noted on bricklink or Brickowl or anywhere else that I have looked) the ones on the top of this page could be any, 1) the early one's had no mold marks at all and so would look fine either way around 2) one of the modern one's has LEGO copyright logo and a 3 digit mold stamp (on the non stud side) these should go stud up, 3) then some of the modern ones have mold lines to give the petals a more defined look this is molded on the non stud side, these are obviously intended to go studs down. So we have a definitive answer, as far as I am concerned, I should probably photograph the 3 variations will try if I get chance in the morning
  23. Hobby King is probably the best bet buy a stnadard Li-po from a radio controlled vehicle (obviously a small one) they are 7.4 volts and in use they generally would not be charged while working will work with the right voltage going in etc, LEGO use Li-po's at a lower volt as the next step up would be 11.1 volt and too high but they give a higher output compared with regular batteries so performance wise is not too dissimilar, you might be better getting a Li-fe battery or even nimh's as they would be more reliable and could easily be found from hobbyking at reasonable prices small ones from micro cars or helicopters etc are your best bet.
