  1. Naturally, I just had to have this, so I bought some sets online, making sure I reached the 30 euros... I was hoping, however, i'd be aible to get a second set on Saturday at the Lego shop in Wijnegem, but they'd already run out , even though, officialy, this special deal runs untill the 7th. A shame that I only have one, but it'll have to do then. It's still MISB, i'll never open it, so it's great to see this review, now I know, at least, what is in the box I'll keep an eye on Bricklink, though... This may be interesting to replace some of my older minifig torsos.
  2. oh man! this is greaaaatttt!!! can't wait to get my hands on this! green space dudes! yeah!!!!
  3. I would agree with this. I'd love to see a return as well, but only if they drop the dragons etc. I wouldn't mind some fantasy elements, maybe a reference to Viking religion, like Thor,...
  4. really great work looks like a great display piece
  5. this is pretty creative! well done!
  6. hmmmm i still have mine boxed... i can only open it until after I haved moved to a new place i'm so looking forward to building this one
  7. really impressive! well done!!
  8. well it's a fine model of the Mini, that's for sure, I like the colors, picnic set and the wheels quite a lot. Still, I don't think I'll buy it though...
  9. brilliant, as ever.
  10. i've heard people using the term "Lego" for other construction toys as well. Not sure if that's a serious issue though. In most cases it's just some one who doesn't know all too much of this world of toys. People simply recognise the Lego concept, which has become a universal building technique. I don't think there's a serious threat. It would become a problem if the general public would associate Lego bricks with construction toys of a lower quality, but I'd say that, right now, the high price of Lego bricks is a more important issue. Besides, I'm sure the company is protecting its Lego brand pretty well...
  11. kinda weird ship but it sure looks cool!
  12. this is really amazing stuff! Happy to see that the Roman Ages are finally finding a way in the Lego-world
  13. well i bought it at the Billund Park a day later. Paid 799 crowns, more or less 130 euro or so? Thanks for the great review Rufus No doubt, every young boy will buy this set. It looks cool, it's quite large, there's a lot of playability stuff, it only misses yet a few other space dudes I would have prefered a red or white astronaut though, but oh well, blue is fine too. It also misses a couple of classic antennas though... G Mr. Lego, how could you have forgotten those? oh well... can't have it all... but what do I think of this set... hm... I think it's a great tribute to Classic Space, the revival of old parts is a good thing if you wanna build neo-classic space stuff. and we all love Astro Kitty, right? but the model is a bit too complicated for me, honestly. too many angles and corners for my taste... ah yes... the lack of a landing gear... hmmm... come on Mr. Lego... only a few extra parts... think i'll do some modifications when i'm building this... the canopy is also a bit of a risc. Sure, it's large, but kinda difficult to use for other mocs...
  14. saw the new star wars sets yesterday at the Lego Shop in Antwerp... hmmm... some mixed feelings about them, really. The Phantom doesn't look very interesting I must say. The weakest set of this summer, IMO. The Snow Speeder is quite fine, but I guess there are no surprises left on that model. I think the basic model is several years old now... The same could be said about the AT AT. Not bad, but nothing brilliant either. I'd say the first AT AT still rules! The sandcrawler is pretty cool, with lots of great figs, but too expensive for a non-star wars fan. I think the Ghost and the Jedi Scout are by far the best models of this wave. They do need some modifications, based on the youtube reviews, but they're great space ships...
  15. well actually, the pick a brick at Billund event had a box filled with classic yellow tanks. I guess it's a start
  16. looks great so far. i would add some trans-orange light to the boosters, perhaps with electric light systems of lego technic
  17. funny... there's a traffic sign not that far from where i live. A huge sign indicating the direction of the city center etc. At the bottom of this sign, there's a sticker of a head+helmet of a red classic space dude... it's quite large, you can see it from a serious dinstance. I didn't put it there, to be clear, but... ... you'll never see this with any other Lego minifig theme... For some reason, these classic space dudes have become a cult. They're still very popular, even though, to my knoledge, Lego Space never sold all too well, except for the first couple of years. Not that long ago, there was this modular building, I believe, with a statute of a Lego space dude, there was also a torso with the classic space logo... from time to time, the Lego Group creates a reference to the era of Classic space. They never rerelease a set, it's just some sort of salute to that theme... I think that is how you should see Benny and his spaceship: it's a reference to a golden age, a salute to 1000s of hours of playing time for many 30-40 year olds... but it doesn't mean the return of classic space. the fact there's a cuusoo set coming up is to me an indication that a revival of the old theme is out of the question, otherwise, they wouldn't have gone for one set, but for a theme... I also don't think it should be revived. Let byegones be byegones. Classic Space was perfect for the timeframe of the late 70s early 80s: an era of exploration in human history, with the launch of the space shuttle, Voyager 1 and 2 were opening up our own solar system to us, Buck Rogers, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica,... Space was HOT back then. Lego just picked up the vibe at the right time and it worked for a while. In my mind, we've already seen a revival of Classic Space when Life on Mars was released: that series was also about exploration, peaceful existence, running around on a planet or flying in a space ship. There was no solid background story, no real factions, but it seems to me that Lego invested so much in the series that they maybe intended to launch Space anew. Sure, gray and blue and trans yellow where not included, but I guess it all depends on how you define "classic space"...
  18. thanks everyone for yet another great event! See you all in Windsor next year! now it's sorting time... hm... wonder how many extra bricks i'll find in my yellow castle...
  19. i love the blue dude but it'll never be in an official set like this, obviously... i mean, the broken helmet, the bitemarks, fading space logo... in any case, it's great to see the classic space dudes back in full force in a film!
  20. thanks for a great review still, this is by far the weakest series (if it is considered being one) of figs... the panda guy is great, the rest... hm.... not interesting...
  21. a very nice set indeed... i like the minifigs and there are quite a lot of great details, wish they did something different than a café, really...
  22. hey, sign me up as well... sne
  23. well i'm surprised that the exo suit won, but in my view, it's the best of them all. I just hope they don't change too many things...
  24. I read an ad yesterday that Lego is going to open a Lego shop at a renovated section at the Shopping Center of Wijnegem! :-) yoohoo! :-) they're opening next week and to celebrate they're giving you a minifigure pack if you buy 30 euro of Lego.
