REVIEW: 71002 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11
snefroe replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
thanks for a great review! it's not a bad series, but i'm missing an army building fig... the gingerbread guy is cool, so are the scarecrow an the tribal warrior, but overall, i'd say it's average. the blacktron sign is quite nice, really.- 117 replies

EB event Gunzburg 2013 - pictures and post-event talk
snefroe replied to Legogal's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I was home at about 6 pm on Sunday... the weather was really bad when 'doc, Bony, Steven, Dana and I drove back home, so I guess we were lucky with this fantastic weather the days before. it seems we always have great weather at an event (remember the sunny weather in Windsor two years ago) when it's not in Billund... And I won the quiz! yoohoo!! thanks every one for a really great event and see you next year! -
this is really great! a bit too expensive for a non-starwars fan, though...

well i guess we can all dream about producing parts on our own, however, 3D parts would probably not be compatible with the actual Lego bricks in terms of size and colors. they would most likely not fit very well to real Lego bricks and I'm not so sure about the longevity of the parts as a toy in the hands of small children. Lego has a very complex and expensive production process, it seems highly unlikely that they'll lose their customers because of 3D printing... so i'll stick to Lego for the time being. But, i do think it may be an opportunity for the company to expand their business at some point, when the technology has matured...

what a great project this has become! Are you going to restore other CS sets as well or is this the end for you? I see you didn't replace the stickered red dude with another stickered one. I guess it's even more problematic to find those in good condition than printed counterparts...

Thanks for this great review! It does look like a classic town set, really, even though I miss the fine details a bit and ... a girl... not a bad house...

well i'm a bit puzzled as to why Lego decided on selecting this model as the next lego sw set. It doesn't look all that special to me, really.
-
well it was a pretty nice joke! I never saw the site as a "European" thing, though. To me, Eurobricks is about a worldwide community of Afols, there's no real nationality attached to it. And it's also a household name in the Lego world: it stands for "good old fashioned fun where people enjoy Lego as a hobby"

and so they finally recreated a UCS xwing. I didn't get one, so many years ago, when the first was released, but... hm... I don't know... exept for the model itself, the legendary xwing, I don't really see any strong points, honestly. To me, the over all shape looks too 'blocky' or 'heavy", I was expecting a slim nose, a sleek figure... some great detailed engines... the set is bit of a letdown, for me, but it's not bad either, it's just not what i was hoping for... With all the bricks Lego has, these days, this could have been way better for that price.

well it doesn't look bad, but it's not jaw dropping beautifull either...

in the mean time, the firefighting theme has arrived in Belgium... I bought the 60002 fire truck, it kinda reminds me of 6366. in all, it's a really great set...

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
snefroe replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
ouch.... this sucks BIG time. I was so looking forward to see this MOC turn into a real set... with all due respect, but the other one doesn't come close to the Western moc as far as quality is concerned. -
i like the insect, the set is ok, but nothing really brillant, imo

thanks for the review. there are some pretty nice parts in the set. the set itself isn't all that spectacular though... a "theme filler"

What do you think of CMF Series 9 teaser release by TLG?
snefroe replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
well i think it's a cool idea to use a teaser like this. on the other hand, it's revealing too much. a minifig is after all, just a minifig. sure, you're not seeing the front side, but the photos give away quite a lot... oh well... better than leaked pictures... I remember the times on EB when we posted whatever leaked pic we could find. "everybody loves a rebel", we thought... hmmmm... looking back to those days, there wasn't all that much love around... teasers are better than leaked pics... -
they look pretty nice even though it's yet another Police/firefighting theme for most of the part... hm... a missed opportunity to do something different again, imo

I think it's a great teaser we'll see if the figs are just as great, but it looks good so far... no army building fig in it, though... -

I'm in!! Bony, if you're going by car, is there any chance of going along with you? i don't really care with whom i'm sharing a room. i shared one with Mike several times before, last time i was in the same room as Tom, and the year before i had the honour of sharing one with Holodoc... and i'm still alive... somthing to look forward to!
