I think it's a pretty cool moc. yeah... this ship is iconic, wish Lego would make a UCS -model ... yeah... never gonna happen. Space 1999 ... that's a long time ago...

really great review Jim I think the tractor is brilliant As you say, the details of the model make this one of best and most realistic models. the crane... that sucks, imo. and needs a serious rebuild. The other PTO is not spectacular either. I love the wheels though... they look greeeeeaaaat!!!! ah yes... it's also a great parts pack... so I think i'll get it real soon

ahhhh... UFO... looooong time ago... I first saw these sets on dislplay at the shopping mall, at around the year of release, I guess. I was very impressed, even though still in my dark age. I especially loved the large trans-yellow parts I did buy the sets a few years later when I was back into Lego. However, it wasn't this theme that got me back into the Lego world. I also didn't buy the largest set of the theme. IMO, that was not worth the price Lego was asking. I still have mixed feelings about most of the later themes of Space, on the one hand, it was the golden age of printed parts, like the brilliant computers, I couldn't have enough of, but i disliked many larger or weird parts that I could not use for anything else. I also was not a fan of the color combination... IMO, like many other themes of this period, UFO suffered from a faltering quality. To me, it looked like "the end of the line" of the traditional space theme. Soon star wars would take over, making these space themes obsolete, probably sooner than they deserved, but they were not the best ever, either

great review!! I agree with you all the way: it looks quite like a real beetle, but it's just not ... ... spot on... But then, this is a very difficult design for lego bricks. I'm not sure if I could have done better or as good as this one. The thing that bothers me the most though, are the wheels. they look far too wide. they look too "heavy" for this playfull car.

looks pretty nice i'm missing a classic horn though

well actually I was thinking about the set's purpose as well. I imagine that a set like that attracts a lot of very young children who love this castle (the real one in the park), but are probably too young to build and play with this set. In my view, it is a playset, it's got lots and lots of potential for any kind of story. However, I think daddy will have to build it, and maybe warn his girl(s) about very small parts and that nasty consequence called "choking on them". Maybe they should print the choking hazzard really large on this box

not sure what I should have done if i'd found this, honestly. sure, there are some nice sets and the sealed boxes are gems, no doubt, but all these sets are not really popular, especially compared to the older space sets. still, a really great find, congrats!

this is a brilliant moc I was thinking of that as well. My other questions would be: how is this guy getting into the cockpit? you very often get all sorts of ladders and platforms to get you there. I also wonder how this machine will remain stable on the ground in harsh weather. cheers sne

hmmmm.... a green futuron dude Hope there's more of this coming, but somehow I doubt it. It's not the first time that something classic shows up in a modern set. Usually it's just a nice hint to Lego's history... as for a space theme, sure, one day "something space" will be released again, but I guess it won't be classic space...

a really great review! i am thinking of buying one, honestly, it just doesn't look really sexy, IMO... when is this set going to be released?
-
well i've seen better big sets than this wheel, really. Maybe there are some great details we can't see in this picture, but as for now, it looks kinda ... ... unattractive to me...
-
hmmmm... i agree with many of you: it just doesn't do it for me... i wanna love this... but... it's just not the best design for a Tie fighter. The shape of the cockpit, the large wings... hmmmm... I'm gonna skip this one... a shame really, this could have been waaaaaaaay better...

as always, the banner is brilliant!

i'm gonna be there on Sunday, probably at around 14.00 hrs. -
Looks pretty nice, however, i'm interested in the interior. Hope that's good, if not, I wont be getting it...

I got two copies yesterday at the Lego shop. 34 euro each, that's a really good price for the set you get. Looots of smaller parts, including quite a few from the Classic Space era. The green space dudes are brilliant!

well clearly it's a display set created for AFOLS or Batman fans... in that regard, i'd say it's pretty cool. I like the back side quite a lot, even though the rest of the model looks ... like a pile of black bricks... I was hoping for some hidden features though... after all, this is a BIG set, but it seems there's hardly anything there... the entire cockpit section isn't spectacular either, IMO... I'd love to read a review of this set, but personally, I won't buy it...

looks BIG and ... I dunno... I'd like to see the interior before I decide to buy this

thanks for the great review! the set doesn't look as spectacular to me as in the video, for some reason, but it's still a nice set to have. i'll take two, in any case, 1 to keep as an original, the other one to moc. it's seems like there's loooooots of stuff to change, like headlights of some kind, and a life support unit, and a decent power supply... i'd also change the claws, cos i don't like them very much. the arms... i would turn the 2 x 2 round tiles of the elbow joints around,... the cockpit...that needs A LOT of work... it seems to me, the trouble with these exo suits is that they're only as strong as the weakest element, in this case, the astronaut. for instance, if the air in the astronaut's air tanks has run out, the exo suit "runs out" as well, because the astronaut doens't have a build in air tank in the exo suit... which is kinda stupid for a machine that is supposed to enhance the work of the salvage team... anyway, the BIG PLUS of the set are those two green space dudes... i wonder what the price is in Europe. 35 $ seems fair, hope that doesn't change into 45 euro or something...
