  1. If the two sides can close together on hinges and have a carrying handle, it'll look like something straight from a toy store.
  2. This makes perfect sense. Now that LEGO has all these new girl fans via the Friends line, they need to introduce some 'compatible' non-Friends sets for them to expand their collection. I think once their girl audience is of sufficient size, then it will be more practical financially to introduce more progressive and less stereo-typical sets. It's probably not too practical and realistic to put so much expectation on a pre-teen toy to have such a big influence on our children's lives. Wait until they are teenagers and then you'll worry about many other influences. Our children may not even want to buy our idealized version of the toy. I've seen so many comments about pink, lip color, breasts outlines, etc that I'm starting to think that some of us just don't want to change the status quo and want everyone to buy into the same Star Wars and Ninjago sets. It seems unfair why we aren't constantly complaining that most of the sets, especially the popular ones, are all about violence and conflict.
  3. With Friends just taking off, it would seem strange for them to come out with a competitive theme, especially if they decide to go back to minifigures. It could be something complementary to the Friends theme, ala: What I really want is for this Cuusoo project to get produced: Female Minifigure Set
  4. I have the same gripe about it being hard to fit both figures into the car, especially with Doc's hair. Just raising the roof by one plate helps a lot and doesn't really affect the profile. I'm going to order some parts to secure the figures inside (with jumper plates) and to play around with redesigning the hood and windsheild windshield.
  5. These photos are so wonderfully gorgeous. Are these computer-generated or actual photos? If the former, man, I wish LDD had a photo-rendering mode so I can recreate these shots. Just from the photos alone, I want these sets even though I've never played Minecraft before. But chances are, in my actual hands, the sets will look tiny, imperfect, and dull.
  6. Any guesses on the color of this series?
  7. Actu I doubt toyrus had any part in designing the sets, but I could be underestimating the closeness of the relationship. The instruction sheets don't even mention toysrus anywhere. Each sheet does have a Lego club code that leads to a survey and the code has the letters TRU to tie it to toysrus. Police car: code TRUCITY Chima: code: TRUSPE Jek-14 Stealth Fighter: code: JEKTRU
  8. I guess my main issue is that if there is no set number, then how would one catalog it, like on bricklink? I'm not looking to sell anything, but it seems so unofficial if I can't find it in an online catalog.
  9. Toysrus frequently has these free events where they will provide the pieces and instructions to build something, like a mini star wars stealth fighter or a police car. The instruction sheet doesn't seem show to have a set number and they don't come in a bag or box so are these even considered sets? Without a set number, I'm not even sure if I would be able to find them on bricklink / basebrick. I kind of doubt toysrus designs these sets so they must come from Lego.
  10. What does it mean if I find an item on bricklink that comes in a color that is listed as not existing in any set? Is the part re-colored by a third-party? Specially, I was looking for a seat in tan (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4079). If it were red, it could be the pre-colored version of the brick, but I have no idea of the origins for other colors.
  11. In the initial version of the Friends Riding Camp, it included two versions of window arches with printed instructions to essentially throw away one version of the arches. So i suppose they can simply throw in the fixed flux capacitor brick along with the existing broken one, but it probably requires a specific circumstance for this scenario to make sense financially and logistically. Perhaps they pre-sorted all the bags needed for each set box into separate bins but discovered the faulty brick right before the final boxing. So rather than re-bag and re-sort everything, it was easier to throw in an extra bag with the fixed part and print out new instructions.
  12. Japanese High School Girls. I actually have enough of these parts for this along with an assortment of hand weapons to make a five-member team of Ninja High School Girls. This pretty much covers 80% of the manga story lines out there. :) I wish the blue in the skirt matched a little better with the top. Which skirt do you think matches the best? Other suggestions?
  13. I too am excited about the cat. What are they good for? For riding on the back studs of bicycles of course! The previous cat looked too scared but this new one would be perfect. Now I wish I had a black one with go with the witch.
  14. I'm getting a Misses Doubtfire vibe from the grandma.
  15. I've been envious of all the licensed fleshy minifigures due to the unique parts and patterns, but they are not compatible with my yellow minifigure parts collection. So FINALLY there will be recent movie-related LEGO minifigures using the yellow-skin minifigures. I will definitely want the hair piece of the female lead character.
  16. The LEGO Minifigure Year by Year book now has a cover shot: This is the version with three minifigures included: This is the book version without the figures (for libraries, etc): The DK site has more info and some inside pages: http://www.dk.co.uk/...9333128,00.html So do you think the three minifigures shown are the final ones to be released with the book? Townsperson Stormtrooper Robber I'm not sure if I would consider these 'classic' minifigures. The robber is rather recent. Maybe the stormtrooper, but the design hasn't really changed over its history. I suppose they have to throw in some Star Wars since that license practically saved the company. The townsperson seems rather blah. Which three classic minifigures would you include? A classic space one (yellow?) would be nice. Maybe a classic fire or police officer (with printed buttons of course instead of the original sticker). It may be too much to ask for a knight from the original yellow castle era (they don't make any of those helmet pieces anymore). I'm surprised one of the minifigure is not female, but I suppose you can argue about the stormtrooper for that.
  17. Can you confirm that the boy's hair is not a new mold but the same mold as this one? Now imagine the "uproar" if the boy was dressed similar to the minifigure above. Of course, the lack of a shirt would greatly limit his use to just water scenarios and decorative purposes.
  18. Perhaps the LEGO Club editor got confused by these? Handy Guide: DUPLO figures: safe(ish) for your child to put in his or her mouth. Minifigures: not safe for very young children. *Your* collectible minifigures: not for children. :)
  19. LEGO Club now has a minifigure timeline that is far from comprehensive and reads like advertising for Series 10, but I didn't expect there is be a glaring mistake on their own product: As far as I know, those are NOT Duplo figures. Were these even called minifigures at the time? I actually owned one of these a long time ago:
  20. Since there will be a high school, the girls will have to be at least 14. Safest bet is 16 so they all can drive cars and be in the same classes.
  21. This is very nice. I love the basement windows and the little details in the kitchen. How does one get the roof anyway other than via the "hand of god"?
  22. So is LEGO popular to any degree in Japan these days? A relative recently visited Japan and bought me a Japanese-made nanoblock. I haven't even opened the box yet. :)
  23. I hope they include a black plate with the figure so it can stand with his friends. I don't see one in the released photos. I'm surprised that it comes with a rifle. I don't think LEGO has ever previously included hand accessories with any of the minifigures packed in a book/dvd (not counting the brickmaster "books"). In related news, Amazon now has the *other* DK minifigure book for pre-order: http://www.amazon.co...y/dp/1465414118 It retails for $40, has 256 pages, and I think it comes out on Sept. 16 2013. Previous information says that this book will come with three minifigures and I can believe that given how much more it costs compared to the 208 page CMF book.
  24. On Bricklink, Wanted > By Shop will rank the stores by how much of my Wanted List they have, but since no one store has everything I want, it's hard to figure out what items are missing from one store and needs to be bought from another. I also have my list on BrickStore and was hoping that it could import several shopping carts so I can visually see which store has what (is that what the Tier 1, Tier 2, etc stuff in BrickStore is for?) but shopping cart importing is not working. I did convert the BrickStore file to Excel and started to go through each vendor store and mark off what items they have from the list, but stopped because I wanted to see if there is a better way. Do people just open up several browser windows and start comparing that way?
  25. At first I was pretty ho-hum about the train platform areas but it got pretty exciting once I saw the interiors, especially the basement/sub-platform areas.
