  1. The Rocker Girl's hair does have a similar texture, but is too puffy (like a wig) and is missing the important side-swept of the middle bangs. I think I'll have to wait until 2013 to see if this hair becomes available. Since mini-figures mostly have the same bodies, female hair is so significant in gender differentiation. Anyone else compelled to make sure their female minifigures look different from each other, such as with differing and unique hair pieces? Maybe my subconscious is constantly nagging me about the fashion faux pas of females showing up with matching looks.
  2. I would love to have a Medusa character with a woman torso and a serpent bottom, like the one from ninjago: I would love to be able to create a Naga character from Xanth. Would that snake bottom be too bulky for a CMF bag?
  3. There is a character called Ellie Phillips in the upcoming LEGO City Undercover game and I really like her hair piece. Does anyone know if the hair piece is based on an actual lego piece? If not, I hope they release a Chase McCain set that includes her (hair).
  4. In regards to the Alien with the Space Marine armor, it makes sense from a pairing perspective. Many CMF can be grouped in pairs (good marketing) and the 'space' theme CMF could have these pairings: white space guy + black space guy pink space girl + female alien gray robot + black robot gray alien + green/purple alien space marine + ????? So the space marine alien looks like a good fit, if you accept that the gray alien is 'good'.
  5. Could it be that private re-sellers are buying them all up?
  6. If they decide to re-release the older sets, they should be as close to the originals as possible. I don't mind allowing people to buy sets that they missed, but don't try to double-dip current owners by releasing modified special editions.
  7. If it were possible to leak super secretive pre-launch iphone 5 parts from china, then it can't be much harder for the same to happen for chinese-sourced lego parts.
  8. Custom non-lego but lego compatible baby bricks (inhale) were made (link). Original flavor: Zombie flavor: And lego micro figures are baby-ish. I have both the pink and blue one in the middle, and though the pink one may pass for a toddler, the blue one needs a shave first.
  9. I suppose Silverish Grey is close to the Light Grey brick color. I add colored plates to my CMF bases that matches the series color and I hope LEGO doesn't throw out a series color that has no matching brick color or is hard to find. I heard a rumor that series 10 will be Gold, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do since I've already used Yellow.
  10. Licensed minifigures would not have yellow skin, making them hard to integrate with the existing series. I like to use parts from my CMF collection to make unique figures and I can't do that with most of the body parts from licensed minifigures.
  11. For the four I ordered, shipping was $32, and I live in the States as well. The other display cases are nice, but to me, some are too much cramp like a cryogenic pod, where you're not expected to touch their contents for a long time. Now that I have all my figures in place, I'll probably soon re-rearrange them and I have so much space to do that. It's more fun to be able to touch and move them around them on occasion. And having all my figures attached to their bases makes it much easier to move and push them around like chess pieces.
  12. Thanks to kasmca, I bought the same display cases from here: http://www.custom-wall-displays.com/. I got four and arranged them close together. These cases are made by the vendor on his spare-time (not part-time) so it took more than a month for me to receive them. But they look great and are very clear. Here is a side shot with the covers off. Each case is mainly made of three pieces of plastic, not including the cover. A large piece is molded to form the outer case. Two smaller pieces are each molded into a bracket shape "[" to create two shelves each. Each shelf also has a little lip fold that helps prevent things from sliding off. Six tiny "L" shape pieces are glued to the brackets at various areas to connect the shelves to the main case. A minor complaint is that the middle of two shelves has an "L" piece in the top-side middle, which presents some unevenness, depending on how deep your display item is. The bottom shelf has "L" pieces on the top-side as well but at the ends, so it's not as bad. I would like to go on a tangent and discuss how each minifigure is displayed. As you can see, I have added pieces under each minifigure plate that matches the color of the corresponding series. This makes it much easier and faster to reorganize everything back together by series. Now I can play around by arranging figures into groups based on color, story, job, etc but still can tell from which series each comes from. I originally though of using a row of four 1x1 plate pieces instead of the current 4x1 in the front side and using a binary numbering system for each minifigure to match their ordering in the series catalog sheet. So for example, 0 = black, 1 = color 0 = 0000, 1 = 0001, 2 = 0010, ... 1111 = 15 But buying many hundreds of 1x1 pieces is pretty expensive and the usage of 1x1 black pieces made the colors not stand out as much. And I had the series 8 delimma where it would be black on black (thought of using dark grey). Another issue was that I didn't like having figures that couldn't attach to the base, like those with ice skates, skis, etc. I've seen workarounds where the figure holds their accessories, but that seems rather boring. Here is how I tried to solve that. For the ones with surf boards, you can simply attach them to the plate horizontally, but I didn't like the unnatural look of them going perfectly sideways into the adjacent figure. So I did this. I like how I can put them flush with each other. The skiers were especially tricky since it's hard to attach directly from the back, so I used an L plate to attach from the side. Another L plate is used to attach to the base. The ones with feet attachments were pretty straight-forward, but specific pieces are needed to ensure the ice skates are aligned correctly so they touch the base between the pegs and not look like they are floating. I couldn't really think of a cool way to arrange the skate boarders so I just attached them at an angle. Anyone have them doing a tricky move? I didn't like the mime having two extra heads just floating around so I bought extra bodies for them. Here is how the bottom looks like. Thoughts? Suggestions? Is there a thread speculating the colors of the next bags?
  13. This android app is $3 USD. The book is $80. It's such a no-brainer that the app is so worth the little it costs, especially when you consider than the app data can be updated with corrections and additions unlike a physical book. It's so nice to be able to browse all the minifigures in the entire LEGO history, and these appear to be high resolution photos taken by the author and not rips from web sources. Please help support the author so he can continue to release yearly updates.
  14. In my youth, I remember staring dreamily at the tiny LEGO catalog's even tinier photo of set 6390 Main Street. But I think I will settle for something with a little more play: 497 Galaxy Explorer.
  15. Hey, the new box art just let me know that an Android version is now available. Just installed it and too bad it gives an error that my device resolution is not supported. From the new box art, I can't tell if it has the same number of pieces as the previous version, but they did lower the age rating from 14+ to 8+ (wow, kids are getting iphones at what age now?).
  16. There are several versions of the space helmet. Obviously today's standard one doesn't fit, but does the thick strap version work (two in the middle)? How about the sports helmet? Thanks!
  17. I want to recreate this cool space helmet, which uses the old thin-chin helmet inside a clear dome piece: It's from here: and he even has a cool movie-style poster using the figures for sale. The thin-chin helmets are harder to find, easy to break, and don't come in that many colors. Before I order parts, can someone please tell me if a more modern helmet will fit into a dome piece? I wonder if I can fit a particular hairpiece within the dome as well. Thanks!
  18. What is the easiest way to take everything that I've ordered from Bricklink and transfer the same items into my Bricklink store inventory? It doesn't seem like I can just download all my orders as XML and then pasted that unchanged into the Inventory Upload field. It would be nice if I can just look at my order history and have an option to add to inventory.
  19. Since not everyone got into collecting right from the introduction of the series, it would be unfair for the 'veterans' to wish it to stop because they are tired of it. To many people, it's fresh and exciting and even new. If I were just introduced to the series and were told it will end soon, I would probably be hesitant to start collecting. Besides, I don't think the series has plateau on creativity yet. I agree that to some people, hunting down bags and feeling them is tiring and a big drain on time. I've experience it and I think I can leave that aspect to the younger folk now and simply use my money to order exactly what I want from others who have already done the tedious portion for me. I'm actually finding it being cheaper and I actually get it sooner compared to the traditional way.
  20. I'm not into army building but I do enjoying collecting all of them. I started at Series 5 and experienced the joys and frustrations of finding and feeling bags. Having had my fill of that experience, I've changed gears for completing my collection of the other series by simply ordering the complete sets online. It cost a bit more when buying the old series this way, but I'm finding it costing the same or even a bit cheaper for new series.
  21. I was just about to buy myself a white horse + headgear to make a unicorn when I came across this topic. I think I'll wait for the new sets and see if they will have a white version. Too bad about the headgear incompatibility so I may need to wait a bit more before I can add the horn. The new posing option will go well with the Pegasus wings I'm dreaming up.
  22. 5) Battle plans (Celtic Warrior) Entry (Build by kciR) - 1 point 10) My third wish (Genie) Entry (Build by Skafte) - 2 point
  23. 4) Butcher Entry (Build by Walt) - 2 point 31) Sleepyhead Entry (Build by watersnap) - 1 point
  24. The highlander sword fits. The gladiator has a spear. The sword does NOT fit into the prince-of-persia double-sword back scabbard.
  25. Well, some of the CMF parts are for upcoming sets, like the elf ears for lord of the rings sets. And it seems like the monsters are getting sets:
