  1. It is possible that this is a beta design? But even if so, I doubt the final design will be much different as evident with the beta box shots we saw for the Disney Princess sets. So no hope for a restored loft. It's likely that this large set took years to design and finalize as opposed to the simplistic Disney Princess sets so late major design changes are unlikely. The front diagram shows that all the roofs are removable. I would have expected the entire second floor to be removable like modular buildings but it looks like only the rear of the second floor is, which most likely is to give better access to Bart's room.
  2. Just noticed that the loft above the garage is missing. This seems like a pretty big oversight, unless the loft was added in later years. I suppose if they swapped lisa/bart's rooms with marge/homer's so the master bedroom was next to the garage, then the loft space could be used for a private bathroom / walk-in closet. But then having two bedroom doors on the same side as the stairs will be a problem. I wonder if there is anything under the stairs like a closet (you can place harry potter there). I suspect there are some stickers (on wheel barrel) but I hope I'm wrong. Ok, Futurama next!
  3. I have stopped watching the Simpsons a long time ago but I'm compelled to get this because it may be a better designed play house than what I could design or build (if I had so many pieces). It's probably missing a few rooms from the show, but the basics are all there and no one is left sleeping on the couch. But where are Santa and Snowball?
  4. So has ANYONE received the correct piece yet? This is the second time I've seen a memo from LEGO that finally got the correct piece but I'll wait for confirmation before making my third attempt.
  5. When I play / look at some of the LEGO video games, I can't help but make a mental shopping list of all the parts I want. Alas, many of minifigure parts are purely fictional, like Ellie's hair:
  6. Even before the first season finished airing, it was renewed for a 2nd (now showing) and a 3rd season.
  7. Knowing the designers would essentially give us access to each designer's portfolio/resume. It would be interesting to see how their designs changed over time and see how much influence they have with set designs overall. The only designer that comes to mind that is sort of famous is Jamie Berard, but perhaps that is only because I really like the Modular Building series that he started. Here is a list of most of his sets: http://www.brickset.com/brickLists/?8900 I would love to know the people responsible for some of the more notoriously bad and slapped-together looking sets and see they got better or if they are even still employed at LEGO. It's amazing how LEGO is more than 60 years old and only in the last decade did the overall designs get more serious (City seems to have maintained a higher standard throughout). I wonder if ties in with a major revamp of their designers hiring process (looks pretty tough from a recent article). Ahem: Compared with: Apart from videos and little easter egg initials, it's pretty rare for a LEGO set to list the designer. I only have the Back to the Future Cuusoo set, but the instruction book lists the designer. Is it the same with the other Cuusoo sets?
  8. With the heads, I think these minifigures will be taller than even the Friends minidolls, so certainly they will be a challenge to create proportional sets for. Would they need to create new larger door molds? I'm proud to have collected all the CMF figures so far (ignored the olympic ones and no Mr. Gold) and I'm a little tempted to gets these as well for completeness, but I'm not really liking what I see so far. The cartoon-ish printing makes it hard to re-use the parts, though I can probably use Homer's short-sleeve arms. Of course, if Homer's arms are made from the same factory as CMF arms, they will be horribly loose in a non-CMF torso. Maybe the saving grace will be some awesome accessories.
  9. Getting the correct color hands is pretty easy but the worst is finding an awesome printed torso and then to find a sliver of flesh color at the neckline. Argh! Seriously, let's cover up those revealing necks so we can use the torso with any head and hand color we want.
  10. Perhaps it's some sort of sickness because I too find myself talking about LEGO more than actually building it. Sometimes I pause before submitting another order on bricklink for yet another MOC that I'm gathering pieces for but have yet to build and wonder: where is the fine line between 'collecting' and 'hoarding'? Sometimes I find myself enjoying the creative challenge of building with my daughter's more limited collection than trying to build something color and piece-perfect.
  11. I asked for part 6083794 and still got the incorrect part! This was my second attempt! I don't think anybody in the world has received the correct part, if it exists at all.
  12. Better get started on that life-size LEGO coffin. Obviously, it will have a working train going around the perimeter.
  13. Another annoyance with the current usage of slopes for dresses is that when the arms are straight down, the slope piece actually touches the hands and pushes outward on the whole arm. Normal legs are slightly less wide than the slope brick and thus there is no stress on the arms. I wish there is a solution for skirts that doesn't require cloth or printing. Since I can't think of anything really practical, then perhaps LEGO can't either. I would love to have the shoulder piece be separate so we can finally have short-sleeve arms. This will also allow the forearms to rotate out to the sides, which seems helpful for certain poses, such as pointing a weapon to the sides. Ideally, the shoulder piece should be the same diameter as the rest of the arm so it looks like the existing mold and not look like giant shoulder pads (cough Kreo cough) but I'm not sure if that is possible strength-wise and durability-wise. I do see that in the upcoming Simpson's CMF, short sleeves are achieved via print. I would also simply love a way to attach bricks to the hip. I'm thinking of something like the current neck-attached bracket but modified so you can attach two between the torso and legs. Point them both back for back attachments. Point them both front to attach aprons or dresses. Point them out to the sides for holsters. I tried using the existing bracket but the bracket has round holes (for the neck) and the legs have non-round studs. So if I wanted to suspend a long hair minifigure, I would need to attach from the foot or from the holes in the back of the legs. But say I want to give the same minifigure wings or some other back attachment, extending up all the way from the legs is complicated and restricts the pose positions of the legs.
  14. I'm not sure where you saw it referred to as Parisian Cafe but it's Parisian Restaurant. So our current short-hand system still works. :) Maybe LEGO uses the same system and we can use it to figure out the next modular? <crazy>
  15. Well, the people in the LEGO universe could have a religious belief in giant beings that controls their lives and created their world. And the fictional writers of the LEGO movie can reflect that belief in the story or could be making it up like science fiction. Just because we know their beliefs are in fact true doesn't make it impossible for them to independently come up with those beliefs.
  16. This does look great. I would add a sheet of plastic/glass to keep out dust.
  17. This Thread has some more options, including what I currently use.
  18. I love looking at these photos, but I'm trying hard not to count all the stickers in these sets.
  19. What is the red piece on the police car that shoots a flick-fire? My initial thought was that it was the same piece on Emmet's back, but probably not.
  20. All this talk about the Cafe got me confused until I realized you guys were talking about the Parisian Restaurant. Or is it named differently in different countries? I suspect not since the first modular had Cafe in its name.
  21. Tapatalk is now free so that helps a lot. I just recently started using it for forums with poor or no mobile support. I have no issues accessing the mobile version of this site but it would be nice to have to only run one app to access my forums and have a consistent interface for all of them. The centralize notification feature seems more useful than relying on emails. Any previous tapatalk users still using it?
  22. Tapatalk is now free so that is a quick solution. I use it for forums that are not mobile friendly but it would be nice to centralize all my forum access to one app.
  23. I'm in the US and when I view the checkout, I see that it's now triple VIP points earned. Hmm, I think I may rather have 10% instead.
  24. I can understand that the current micro-scale sets are not ideal for their younger audience and hence the needs for these sets. Perhaps the micro-scale sets would suit minecraft world-builders and these system-scale sets would suit minecraft home-builders. My immediate reaction is that these look incredibly bland, boring, and childish. I especially dislike the drab colors and cramp interiors. It is as if they applied a theme to a bulk brick set, which I suppose is a clever way to sell more of the 2x2 and 2x4 bricks. Wouldn't most of the sets have the same bricks? Maybe it would be fitting of the theme if these sets came with 3-in-1 (or more) instructions for alternative builds. My mind just had an image of a CMF line of girls cosplaying as minecraft creatures. Yeah, I'm not really into minecraft.
  25. With the long dresses in the Disney Princess sets, I suspect there will be a formal party or prom set.
