  1. I be curious to see how it would look modded with the smaller joints.
  2. In the video, they say they are the salvage team. And green makes me think of recycling. Despite whatever the original roles of the mechs, now that the green team has them, they will use them to make their job easier.
  3. Is there any particular meaning to the classic spacesuit colors? Apparently, "green" is for the salvage team aka garbage collectors. So exo-suit = dump truck?
  4. It was the PR's higher level of interior detail that finally sucked me into the modulars. If you want both big buildings and detailed interiors but have no confidence in your MOC skills or just don't have much spare pieces, then one can simply buy multiple PRs and stack them. And I think detailed interiors helps sets the stage for the photo narrative that goes into the back of the box, which greatly helps sell sets.
  5. What is a good solvent for polypropylene? Should I still use MEK?
  6. I just opened my Haunted House set and found one part of the bushes with a detached branch. I will try to get a replacement from LEGO but I may also want to repair the existing one. I've read that MEK (Methyl ethyl ketone) solvent is good for ABS plastic but I'm not sure if plants are ABS as well since they seem more flexible than the usual bricks. Should I use MEK with this part?
  7. Whatever building LEGO decides to produce needs to at least look interesting from the outside. The existing townhall is pretty generic enough looking to be easily converted to a school or police station. Here is the town hall essentially converted to an apartment building in the Lego Movie: (from this thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92364)
  8. The HH is uniquely suited to be placed at a corner due to the two entrances. I don't think you can simply place any other regular building at a corner. Once I have mine built, I'll see if I can build the wall on both sides of the corner.
  9. The Haunted House can be made into a corner building: From thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94604&st=25#entry1882486
  10. I just got this set and noticed that on the back of the box, it says '9468 not included in box'. 9468 is the Vampyre Castle, but I don't see any text or pictures on the box relating to that other set. Well, the boxes are the same size and the color scheme of both sets are the same. The text is very small so I think it's more to protect LEGO when a customer comes back wondering why he or she got the wrong set. If they wanted to avoid confusion before the purchase, they could display the other sets on the back of the box.
  11. I think you can lose some of the street lamps. And if you can move the two garage doors next to each other, it may look less like a merging of two sets.
  12. So did the sales person get you to buy it right there (or buy another copy of it)?
  13. For the fakes, did they pose cover shot exactly the same or did they simply photoshop copy the original? For the Fire Mech, the background is slightly shifted but the model itself looks exactly the same and in the exact same pose. The lighting is exactly the same, which is pretty hard to duplicate I think. Does anyone know if LEGO uses actual physical models for the boxes or are they advanced computer renders? It would be interesting to see if the actual model has the same look and quality of what is on the box.
  14. What a scene it would be to have mobster types in suits, in the downstairs laundromat, putting money into the washing machine. VINCE: "Jimmy, are you sure the boss wants us to do this?" JIMMY: "He said launder it and we are laundering it. I'm not going back to ask him again." VINCE: "Oookay, but did he say how many cups of soap to use?"
  15. When I was thinking of the early 20th century and ideas for modulars, I kept thinking of feel-good Norman Rockwell-esk settings. But with the idea of a detective, now I can imagine the less wholesome settings of the private dick mysteries and mob stories. It would be so cool if the narrative is some sort of mystery and clues to solving it are found throughout the build. I kind of doubt LEGO will try for a murder mystery, but a skeleton behind the wall may be acceptable. And I'm sure some people will turn it into a Bioshock Infinite MOC.
  16. It would be wonderful if the parts of this set could be integrated into the next modular building set. Maybe a museum would work.
  17. The set is shown in the back of the US Summer 2014 catalog and it shows all four minifigures in the car: 3 sitting and 1 lying on his back in the rear. When I get this set, I'll see if I move the steering wheel to the driver's side and squeeze two minifigures in the front side by side. And it would be cool if the rear door can be modded to slide out to load the proton packs.
  18. You forget about the storefront factor. If one buys all the inventory from the stores and faster than they can re-supply from LEGO, then this creates an artificial rise in demand (and price) by reducing the supply. Obviously this is easier to do when the item is near end of life and no more will be manufactured. So it's not a matter of someone restocking their personal store but emptying out the stock of other stores.
  19. Just curious, but why does there seem to be more negativity toward the PR? It's probably the same mix of opinions for most modulars but it seems more visible for the PR because it's the latest. I love the PR for its interior details, but I can see how its shortness may annoy others (but it's modular for that reason). If anything, please no more 'modern' buildings like the GE, which was SO boring to build. :) Didn't we get a brownstone in the PS set? I know the church idea has been shot down many times, but are there any other building types with large stain glass windows? The tiny stain glass window in PS was such a surprise and joy.
  20. Is there a typo? They will not be released in North America and yet you only have USD pricing? I'm in the USA and after reading the above sentence, my heart dropped and I resigned myself to searching for a euro bricklink store with those wonderful flame wings.
  21. Theses sets are marketed mainly for adults, who in turn are old enough to remember the original purpose of post offices and libraries. Otherwise, they would abandon all storefront sets and replace them with a polybag containing a single brick: 2x2 black tile with the amazon.com homepage printed on it.
  22. So far, the 'modular buildings' have been multi-story bulidings where the middle section can be duplicated to expand the building. And there is a early-20th century retro vibe to the series (if you can ignore the Town Hall computer). I wonder if LEGO will continue to adhere to these attributes. If they do, then it would keep out ideas such as a gas station / service center or a diner, which are usually single-story buildings with limited modular-expansion possibilities. But maybe they will loosen up things a bit and allow short retro buildings, as long as quality and detail is maintained by keeping it at the $150+ price point.
  23. Maybe there will be more building-related narratives relating to love. PR: proposal TH: wedding GE: wedding clothes PC: a date place Perhaps: Bakery: have a wedding cake with a pair of figures on top, using the trophy brick. They already have a 'man' trophy but they could create a woman trophy too. Diner: a dating place. I would love to see a jukebox, booths, and wrap around counter. Not sure how to make it modular since diners are usually a one-floor structure. Gas station: I seriously doubt they would make this, but the classic full-service gas stations were so iconic. They can have a car with a just-married sign and some cans strung to the back. Maybe a combination diner/gas station is possible.
  24. I thought studs down was a relatively recent thing and I quite like it. These have been around but I don't think they are used on the traditional stems much: There are many new flower molds in friends sets. Studs up would be needed to attach these guys:
  25. There was an official one, but it's probably hard for you to get: Or did you mean Rachel Summers?
