I've got a solution, but I haven't built it out yet. I have to warn you, it uses the 42000 rear hubs, so if you don't have those, it's kind of worthless.

The front end looks terrible, and I thought for sure that as a "Custom" pickup it would include ideas and extra parts to customize it. I'm not digging the fact that it has no transmission or even 4wd, and the tires don't really look right. I would have personally added an updated version of the 24x43 tires, but for the new wheel hubs. Man, it seems that lately Lego is really dumbing down the sets. This would fit a lot better in the Racers line, like 40022. However, I'm probably going to get one, as I need them red panels for a project I'm working on.

This set is a mixed bag for me. I hate the steering, and the linear actuators look really out of place. I really wish Lego would make them (and pneumatic cylinders), in different colors. Also, the extension shafts on the linear actuators look a bit thin, but that's pretty minor. The front end on the whole has a very messy design, but from the cab back it looks great. I'm not sure if I'm getting this set, or not. I'm not too fond of yellow, and while the new bucket is great, I don't build wheel loaders that often. And speaking of wheels, while it is great that Lego finally made the large hubs in yellow, they look kind of out of place. Thus, I have mocked up some easy modifications to show you guys: From left to right: Option 1 uses a large track sprocket Option 2 uses a smaller wheel. Option 3 uses a 40z gear. Option 4 uses some round plates Option 5 uses a 6x6 disc. So, which one is best?

Connecting Tri-Liftarms
Saberwing40k replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Umm, I hate to say this, but having a triangle shape like this will actually impair the function of the mechanism. A tri star bogie has to have 3 radially arms, with nothing in between them. Making the assembly a full triangle could result in the frame catching on an obstacle. -
I've been thinking about 42030,and how it would turn with a servo. I just don't see such an arrangement working. What if, instead, we had a configuration of 1 L motor, for steering, 1 XL motor, for drive, and 2 servo motors, each with an autovalve for control of the arm pneumatically? That would be cool, yes? As for getting air in the system, it could have an air tank, and a compressor run off the drivetrain. I'll be mocking this up and seeing how playable it is. But regardless, this seems a bit unlikely.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Saberwing40k replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hmm, I wonder if Sheepo could produce instructions, for just the gearbox, cause while I like the car, I'm more interested in the gearbox and how it works.- 195 replies

If that were true, wouldn't we get a new 3L worm gear, instead of this stupid 1l one? However, I don't see them as doing that just because the part was designed in the studded era. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Unless the mold is wearing out, it makes not a whole lot of sense to just introduce a new part.
