Well excuse me for dreaming. I think you forgot to read the part about it being my ideal schenario for the sets. Also, these pictures aren't based on nothing, they are based on preliminary information already posted in this very thread. Keep in mind that this thread is not just about discussing official information and pictures, but what we want to see. Also, I feel a bit singled out, because several other people have posted things that are, as you say, "based on nothing",or "that Lego wouldn't make", and yet you chose to call me out. Oops, I seem to have forgotten about 8837. But, my point was that wheeled excavators are not really represented in Technic.

Yup, that's partially right. An additional reason is that V engines are more balanced, and do not have issues with crankshafts. Some early straight engines had problems with the crankshaft twisting under stress. but, back on topic. The 2h sets. If the information is correct, we will be getting an excavator, a crane, and a Mercedes truck of some sort. Personally, my ideal scenario for the sets is as follows: I hope the excavator is a bucket wheel type, mid size, with some new hubless gears to make the bucket, and have it be so that it can actually dig, and move the conveyors. It would have, along with the new gears, new parts for making truss frames. The largest excavators of this type I've seen are grey, but I've also seen some smaller ones in blue or green, which are both good, as long as it is bright green like 42039. Another good option would be a wheeled excavator, which has never been done in Technic before. The crane is possibly a truss crane type, but I'd prefer a wheeled one versus a tracked one, like a Gottwald AK- 912 It would include all parts to build a configuration with the derrick and the fly jib, as well as be displayable in transport configuration, as well as have a proper b model, unlike 8288. As for color, I kind of like the yellow and black of the crane above, but red also works. Other good options are a tracked lattice boom crane with an optional ballast cart, and everything else, or a rough terrain crane, another type of crane that hasn't been well represented in Technic. Mercedes truck could mean a lot of things, but I'd personally like it to mean a G63 AMG 6x6, with amazing levels of detail, locking differentials, a proper gearbox, and new wheel covers for the large wheels, and unimog tires. Another good thing would be an Actros, with a pneumatic knuckleboom crane, and multidirectional tipping bed. I'd like it to be orange, or silver. Since the Actros is a very versatile type of truck, there are many options: Semi truck with trailer. I'd like a Nooteboom extensible trailer, or maybe a Mega Windmill Transporter, or a Goldeofer vessel bed. I definitely prefer the 8 wheeled versions. Concrete mixer/pump Tipper Tow truck Log carrier These are just a few options available for the Actros, there are probably many more. Also good would be a 6x6 Zetros, as someone mentioned a few pages ago.

[WIP] UEV
Saberwing40k replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wait, could UEV possibly stand for Undead Extermination Vehicle? That's the vibe I'm getting from this thing now. Also, what kind of suspension do you have now, cause it looks like you've moved away from independent. -
Well, it looks like 42038 has steering after all. Do you have pictures of the inventory pages for the sets you have? Also, I'd kind of like to see if the two you've got have any new parts.

Well, first off, the Power Functions system runs at 9 volts, and is objectively better than the old system in terms of power and functionality. For instance, even a regular M motor has nearly twice the torque of an old RIS motor. Also, more technical features are available, such as pulse width modulation, without which we could not have the servo motor. However, there are some things that the old system can do that the PF system cannot, like easily gang motors, and some parts from the old system do not have modern equivalents. I don't think that Lego should make old 9 volt stuff again, because the motors from that system are objectively worse, and do not fit in with the current building style. Also, they have already invested quite a lot of money in the Power Functions system, so it would not make sense from a business standpoint. Whether or not they should reissue motors as part of old sets, however, is another discussion entirely. I think Lego should continue to update and expand the Power Functions system, with both new parts, like a proportional switch, and updated parts, like a new micromoter, and maybe something similar to the control center. Also, a PF power supply that would plug into the wall would be very useful.

Technic Parts You Never Use
Saberwing40k replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have many Mindstorms parts that I no longer use, plus studded pieces, and 40 toothed gears. And 14 tooth gears. Come to think of it, I barely use any old style pieces at all. I don't use Technic plates either. -
I think I only have two new style seperators, but that's because I (like ZBLJ) only really buy Technic sets. My brick seperator of choice is actually not a Lego part, but a small multi tool with pliers and a screwdriver. The flathead screwdriver will pry up plates and tiles without getting dull, and fits in more spaces, while the pliers can get grip on pieces that I cannot, or even hold and insert things in places I can't reach. Also, I think the individual seperators are both overpriced and redundant. They should be about 99 cents, at most.

Scooby-Doo 2015 Rumours & Discussion
Saberwing40k replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in LEGO Licensed
Good grief those new designs for Scooby Doo are the worst things I have seen in a while. I'm hoping, if this new theme is indeed Scooby related, that they'll stick to the more classic designs, with regular minfig parts, and maybe a new mold dog for Scooby. Also, where are these pictures everyone is talking about? I can't seem to find them.- 1,699 replies

1H2015 Video Reviews

I don't mean to divert the topic too much, but I don't think that linear actuators should be included in non motorized models. -

But, it could be argued that using those gears is much less intrusive, and has less of an issue with the looks of the model. Also, I seem to recall there being a part like this new 1l liftarm, a crank handle piece that was only used in Technic sets in 1995, for only that year, and then in some Exo-Force sets later. I've actually got some of those parts, they are almost, but not quite 1 stud long, and are a really odd shape. -

It appears to be a wheeled bulldozer, or maybe something like The Plow from Carmegeddon (Big yellow thing at the back.): Anyway, I think it is kind of odd that there is no 43034, which means that the combo model probably cannot be reviewed, which is a shame, because it is very cool, in my opinion the best of the pull back combo models. At first I was kind of meh on some of the sets, but some of the B models look hella cool. We'll see how much money I have come 2015. -
I'm sorry, but this looks more like the love child of Amaterasu and Moon Moon . That face just looks sort of derpy. But, it's still a good build, I like how you use the mixel joints, and the feather pieces to make her look fluffy.

The least LEGO-like line?
Saberwing40k replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I looked at the Muji stuff, and yeah, it is not very Lego like; but it's from Japan, so it hardly counts. I agree with the sentiments that Galidor is not very Lego like, but I think that was intentional, even if that did not work out well. I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Xalax racers, because they are not very Lego like, even more so than the RC ones. -
General Part Discussion
Saberwing40k replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, but while the remote for the Red Beast uses the same frequency and protocol, I'm pretty sure it is not proportional, and it definately lacks the controls for the third channel the buggy remote control box has.- 5,507 replies

[WIP] UEV
Saberwing40k replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is cool, but why locking diffs with limited slip? That seems kind of redundant to me. -
Actually, that is incorrect. 100 were given to the top 100 competitors... Come to think of it, it seems as if everyone on this forum who has a copy won it, but feel free to correct me on this.

Well, that's a bummer. I'm under the impression that 2015 is the year of odd colors, and lazy copouts. There is, thankfully, next to no red and yellow, but some sets seem kind of lazy, namely 42037. I mean, it is pretty standard, has no gearbox, or even four wheel drive, and for some odd reason does not have the new Tumbler wheels, even if they would be more accurate, and look better. But, in terms of accuracy, it is not accurate at all. 42037 does not have a V8 engine, or live axles, or four wheel drive, which anyone who googled formula offroader would know. And they'd have done it, because most people have not heard of formula off road, and would want to know more. So much for the authenticity leg of the Technic Triangle. And don't get me started on the race truck reissue...
