  1. i must have been out of my mind. i tried to make 8070 remote control. while i was building it. intially, i was going to use 4 xl motors to propel it, but that did not fit. the next revision with only two motors made gears grind . so i ripped out the stupid gearbox to make room for a different steering mechanisim. which does not work. there is simply not enough room for the self centering mechanism to work. i am wondering if anybody has any advice for making this model go really fast, because i want it to be able to do doughnuts and burnouts and stuff. to sum it up: 1.) advice for the steering. 2.) is 2 motors enough to move the model if i gear it 1:3? 3.) has anybody else used 4 xl motors in a creation? if so, are there any pitfalls i might encounter? any tips are appreciated. i'm just doing this: p.s. there are no pics because i did not feel like dragging out my camera, as it is quite late where i am.
  2. nope, it's to small, and not variable pitch.
  3. okay, so we need lego rotors. from the look of things the new for 2012 helicopter has well shaped rotors, and a swashplate. this may just be possible, as long as those rotors are new parts and not brick built.
  4. i think i may have a way of making a lego model fly. however, it does involve a couple of model rocket engines. one could make a large, flying wing model, with an nxt brick in it, and with 4 propellers, each driven by two xl power functions motors. in addition, you would need a control station made with a second nxt brick, or a laptop, or even a smartphone. (first two preffered, due to the ability to use joysticks.) on take off, you would ignite the rocket motors, then pull back on the stick, and take off normally. this method is good, because the only non lego parts are the rocket motors, and it would be a fully flyable lego plane. now, before you shoot me down, is a glider flying ? is a cargo plane that uses RATO flying ? this things is basically a little bit of both. now, who's crazy enough to try it?
  5. man oh man, i like that helicopter. even judging by the crappy, crappy pics, it looks like we've got a new swash plate, and new rotors. i may just buy that, and make it fly for real. i dunno about the crawler. i would rather it be something like 8466, except with adjustable suspension, and lockable diffs. as it stands the offroader is not that good, especially if it has only two medium motors for propulsion
