My new expanded city (still in the planning stages) will have an airport so I decided to make some planes which did not end uptaking too much space. The first is a compact jet plane that will be part of the aerobatic display team (catchy name to follow). I would also like to add a passenger plane with a limited wingspan though still working on that. I wanted it to have retractable wheels but I did not have any in my parts.

The problem I find today is the vast amount of specialised pieces when compared to the Lego I had as a child. One of my first sets was the police headquarters 370 with the police car being one of my all time favourite vehicles, I still have a built-up one on my bookshelf. I like your minivan version and takes me back to the models I built as a child with limited pieces.

This is truly inspirationally, I love the decking you created.

Review: 60036 Arctic Base Camp (A review in 5 parts)
KeepLeft replied to woofmcmoose's topic in LEGO Town
Great review, I would like to get this set and the ice-breaker to create an arctic theme to my city. -
I received my Tower Bridge today and and feeling overwhelmed by all the thousands of pieces, I started building and after two hours am only about seven bricks high on the towers. Looks like its going to be an impressive build.

I like the tent technique, something to copy.
-
The little details you put in really create the scene and has given me some ideas I am going to try out. Great work.

I prefer these to the bigger official firetrucks which I think tend to get too big, I am going to have borrow some of your techniques to make my town vehicles slightly smaller. Great work.

Lego DOWNGRADED Missing Part Service
KeepLeft replied to puayyong's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I faced a similar problem. Previously Lego shipped missing parts to South Africa when I contacted them, now South Africa has been removed from the list. I was given as a gift one of the Shell Lego promotion packs which had two pieces missing and was not in a postion to return it to the petrol station. I could not even email Lego as the drop down menu would not let me unless I chose one of the countries on the list. I eventually chose UK and explained in my email the problem. Lego, to my great surprise, responded and said they would post the missing pieces to me in South Africa. While I applaud the customer service I find this change in policy upsetting as it makes me question my further purchases based on whether a missing piece would detract from the set or not. When I bought the Grand Emporium it was missing an entire bag of parts, which Lego posted to me without query, now if a similar situation arises I can just imagine the lack of customer service I will receive from the store I bought it from. I seriously think Lego needs to reconsider this change in policy considering the sheer volume of sets it sells around the world. but when you do that it prompts you for a valid address and postcode to progress further. -
Looking good, you have put some great detail into these creations and have a nice balance of detail without it being overcrowded. I like the way you created the road.

As a kid I bought a number of classic space kids and still have them and am busy reviving them to create a space theme moonbase. Not having any of the other sets my bias is with classic space sets. I have a number of Star Wars sets that I tend to build and leave. The classic sets are basic sets that allow for more creativity than the current sets Lego produces. While I am amazed the way new sets look I dislike the specialisation of the pieces. When trying to build something new I often have one or two unique pieces that prevent any real creativity. The classic space sets, I think are true to the original idea of Lego.

Truly impressive constuction, it's a pity Lego does not produce Star Trek models while over-producing neverendless Star Wars ones. I would love to see a Klingon Bird of Prey made out of Lego in this scale.

This is great, I am busy planning to revive my classic space collection and you have given me some ideas.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
KeepLeft replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I bought 8 random packets and the only duplicate I bought was two Romans, which I really like, its a pity I never managed to get any of the other series Roman soldiers. I like the themes that get carried through in the series, Like the Romans, also the Indian chief from a previous series goes with the soldier in this series. There are quite a few possibilites to make some nice scenes with these recurrent themes, like using Roman soldiers and gladiators, or Cleopatra or Medusa. So I quite like this series. As for Mr Gold, if he was one of the 16 in a series he would not be on my list to buy, so now that he is rare, quite frankly I am not that eager to get him. Must have more Romans.- 1,076 replies

Let me add my compliments too as this a truly architecturally superb build, I love the touch with the occupy protestors, I was visiting London when they were there and it brings back those memories.

Very nice design,I would love to see it in the canal.

I think you have done a very good job with these buildings and the colours used are not too unrealistic which I find can be the case when using red and blue. I have a problem with too many primary colour bricks and not enough earth tones which lead to garish looking buildings. Your design has avoided this problem. I would though, as another post mentioned, change the colour of the front gate to maybe just white, otherwise my compliments.

That's quite a simple design yet is quite intricate in its detail, I particularly like the water effect you created.

Great review, it helped me in deciding to buy this set. It cost R1984 ($239 here in SA) but worth it as it is a fantastic display model, along with my imperial shuttle perhaps the best yet. If only I could buy three and make it slightly longer and a double decker, what ship that would be.
-
A really great job, you managed to create a great scene which could be too much but the different aspects all work so well together. A lovely construction.
-
I ordered the Imperial Shuttle last week Thursday, should get it around Wednesday, I was planning to wait as it is quite pricey but kept worrying that it would be out of stock. I have just blown my Lego budget for the year.

Really love the Hoth scene. That is something I want to do one day.

From Death Star II to Minifig - a Journey through Scale
KeepLeft replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Kind of reminds me of those posters showing how planets compare in size to the sun etc. This would make a great poster. Really good work. You need to include an x-wing fighter as the next jump in scale.
