Cleopatra and Scorpion Pyramid
KeepLeft replied to KeepLeft's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Not my own construction but model 7327, the review of it shows some great pictures (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48652) . Cleopatra was not Egyptian either but Greek and ruled Egypt which had Roman Soldiers based in Egypt. Egypt and Cleopatra had strong links with Rome and would eventually become part of the Roman Empire (so the use of Roman soldiers would fit in here and the series 6 minifigures has a Roman soldier which I am looking forward to and they would need a home). -
You really captured the scene. I will have to use this as inspiration when I build a petrol station. Keep up the Danish love affair.

The snow sculpture is great and I really like the kid toasting marshmellows.

Thanks for the compliment. I have changed the way I construct buildings. I used start with an idea in mind and try to build it, then when I find I do not have enough bricks I end up getting frustrated, so now I look at what bricks I have and build up with them. I do not like the discoloured bricks so I try to use then at the back or places where they cannot be seen. They tend to show up my haphazard building techniques.

Those dirty bricks are 30 years old, they have character. I have tried cleaning some of the white bricks by putting in a bleach solution which works up to a point, though I just try use the cleaner new bricks on the front. Though cleaning individual bricks is too much effort.

Just built the scorpion pyramid and I really like the way it looks. Cleopatra is also pretty pleased. (Now I just need some Roman soldiers as an honour guard.) Close up

I have built another house this time 16 studs wide, I quite like the finished product though I may change the roof by adding some white sloping tiles on the side to border the black ones, once I get enough tiles. The back view is pretty plain and I was running out of tiles. Not sure if I want to add a bit of detail here. Next to my other house. As part of my town, the blue building on the left is the station. REVIEW: 7327 Scorpion Pyramid
KeepLeft replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review which convinced me to buy this set. Bought it today and finished building it. It really is great with lots of little aspects kids will love. Though I intend to dismantle it and use it for the interior of my planned museum although that will not be for time yet. I was not too sure about the scorpion but it looks great once built. I agree with Ogre about the lack of a middle wheel, the addition would make the halftrack far more realistic. -
Nice to see how your city keeps growing and changing like real cities. Got a couple of ideas from those photos. Keep it up.

Very nice, you have made excellent use of available space for the interior. You have four post boxes but only two rooms, it looks like you have plans for expanding. The roof is a bit over the top for my liking. I like the modifications you have made to the rest of the models. Having just built the Grand Emporium its nice to see your mini-version. I will probably dismantle mine in the future though at the moment I like it too much to salvage it for pieces.

A really impressive build, the outside looks great and the detail on the inside shows a great deal of thought. Its always nice to see these kind of builds as it just keeps giving me more inspiration to build my own versions.

I was thinking of buying the Millenium Falcon but I love the look of the Imperial Shuttle. I cannot decide which, though I also want to buy some small Pharaoh sets to create something from Stargate. The pyramids and Anubis type minfigs would work well.

[MOC] Underwater Bank & Money Transfer 3661
KeepLeft replied to Ninja Nin's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That hermit crab is priceless, plus the dead guard still in the van is a nice touch. I like the way the bank has been taken over by the sea. Good job. -
You must have extremely strong will power not to open these sets. The longest set that I had that remained unopened was about two hours and that was only because I bought two sets and was busy on the first.

That ship is amazing, how long did it take to design it? Does it have an interior? I would love to have that in my yet to be added harbour. The helicopter fits in perfectly with the ship.
-
Nice job. You really made use of the available space.
-
Some nice scenes, I especially like the exterior and interior showing the vault. I would like to see some photos of the complete scene with all the different aspects together.

Looks great, the white works so well with the tan bricks. Well done.

Very well constructed and full of interesting exhibits, I love the display case. You have given me some great ideas for my future museum. -
Review: 7985 Temple of Atlantis
KeepLeft replied to Etzel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review and it looks like a nice set. I like the building and I am thinking of buying it as it could create a nice facade for a museum building for my city. -
Thanks for the compliments, as for stairs I decided that I will use basic 1x2 bricks to make a spiral staircase. I cannot think of another method that will not end up taking up the entire floor space for stairs. Although at the moment I am concentrating on buildings for my city, the interiors will follow later.

Other view, you can see the escalators in the back (sorry for the blur).

Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
KeepLeft replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I have done it myself, I would not buy a packet without knowing what I am getting as I do not want the whole series. As for army building, I do not think it should be done in one go but is acceptable over a couple of weeks. -
I love the design, the top view is great. It looks like a modern day prototype for the what the next generation Eurofighter could look like. I would like to see it without the round black studs on the front and replaced with black aerials pointing forward (which could be its armament).
