  1. I quite like the design as a nifty little spaceship, though I think it would look nicer using two colours, like the blue and grey of the classic space.
  2. This would be a good design for an escape pod on a larger ship.
  3. Having too many separators is not a problem, not having any (or having lost it in the pile of pieces) is. I think it is a great tool and should be included in all the sets as not everybody (specifically children) ends up buying the large sets where it is often found.
  4. I have this set still today and most of my Cassic Space sets are the only sets that I do not re-build into something else.
  5. I love these Classic Space inspired designs.
  6. That quite a cool design, now all they need is an alien to fight off. Bias? What bias? Classic Space was clearly the best Lego theme out there .
  7. Them darn kids always acting out what they see in the moving pictures.
  8. The labels really complete the detail for your supermarket. It's just missing a shopping cart.
  9. Minifig scale is a rather fluid concept especially when is comes to ships hence my new cruise ship. My city workers needed a state organised holiday for all their hard work and can now go for cruises around the abandoned lighthouse and come back refreshed and ready to continue in their work for the great plan forward. Just beware of the icebergs, they bite.
  10. Well spotted, I just placed some minifigs to take the photos (and there was no real space on the landing strip side) and the inside layout is not complete yet. The main entrance is the grey entrance which will eventually have a train station next to it providing a quick shuttle service to the airport.
  11. The opening of the airport led to much confusion due to the lack of a check-in counter and huge delays in baggage security checks, so a new check-in counter was added serving Air Skadonk (flying only the best in 1960's Aeroflot propeller planes) which can now weigh and accept hold luggage. Also a new x-ray machine was added to ensure added security. The addition of an office with its own coffee machine was also high on the priority list to keep the workers happy.
  12. Thanks for the complments. I realised there is no check-in desk, so I have included one. I still want to put flat tiles on the floor and some other bits like newspaper kiosk and I am also going include some infrastructure to the airport like a hanger, control tower and fire station.
  13. Cool video, it gave me a good idea of what the Arctic Base is like. I quite like like this theme, it reminds me of the classic space sets.
  14. I am busy designing my new city and I set myself a challenge to build an airport using only the parts from the GE. I did not manage to achieve that and had to use other spare parts mainly tan pieces and grey (bley) plates. Normally I do not include interiors in my bulidings but seeing as the GE had some well designed pieces I decided to make an interior as well. The outside of the building. Hopefully you can tell its an airport because of the plane mural on the left. The mural on the right is of the dear illustrious leader of my Lego state. Any city with so many police has to be a facist state and no facist state is complete without giant pictures of their leaders, hence the mural. The entrance in the middle leads to the ground floor with the typical bureaucratic infrastructure. A side view of the airport, I really love the slope roof. The door on the side is for the future skywalk that will lead to the plane. VIew from the back. The hole on the centre will be for the luggage conveyor belt. On arrival you have to go through security and then to passport control where the escalator will take you to the first floor lounges and departure gates. At the other end of the building the arrival hall has the passport control officer. And then on to the luggage retrieval and customs. The first floor is more welcoming with a place to eat, play a game and shop. Enjoy a pizza. You could watch the planes take off and land, or go to duty-free. Thank you flying Air Skadonk.
  15. Thanks for posting this link. I love the modulars but don't want my town to look like every other Lego town out there with the same type of buildings. I have been wanting to convert my TH to a train station and this is perfect (although I will still have to tweak it to put my own spin on it).
  16. Personally I think Star Trek (specifically TOS) was more about solving problems and the spread of humanity, compared to Star Wars which is basically warfare set in space.
  17. I tend to go through phases where I spend an inordinate time on building a city, or more recently a Mars landscape which used my classic space models, and then I won't touch Lego for a few months only to restart. I am in that building phase at the moment. Reasons for my lapses is the frustration I feel when trying to build a scene and not having the right parts or just not getting the desired look. Buying kits solves this problem and while I love the modular buildings I want my city to have their own style buildings and so I try to replicate the style in my own buildings, but often I am not happy at the finished result. I just finished converting my GE into an airport using some extra parts and am quite happy with the result, I even included an interior which I normally don't do. I need to actually use the bricks I have to make my own versions. Space is also a problem but I am busy making my own custom Lego storage and display table so perhaps that will help with maintaining my interest.
  18. I cannot remember as children we always had Lego around. Though I do remember a Shell petrol station and police headquarters as being amongst my first real sets. Though for Christmas around 1980 I remember being given two of the classic space moon base sets which saw me buy many more and is still probably my favourite theme. A photo of me at Christmas 1976 playing with the Lego I got as a present.
  19. I used to use box tops from A4 boxes and had my Lego town on a dining room table, though I got frustrated at the limited dimensions so I decided to make my own specialised Lego table top and storage all in one. I made two boxes from mdf and painted them in Lego colours, one yellow and the other green on the inside. I still am planning to make a top which will be placed on top of the two boxes measuring around 1m by 3m. The Lego I keep in plastic tubs which can be stored in the boxes. I dislike sorting and so tend to have many different pieces mixed in one box. I stick to sorting by basic colours for bricks and have smaller boxes for other specialised pieces (eg flat, sloped, wheels, windows etc). The plastic boxes are great as they are see through which allows me to see which box I need.
  20. Truly inspirational, I love all the different details.
  21. These are some really great designs, they have definately given me some inspiration for some buildings. Specially the train station.
  22. Really nice model. I would like to see a Klingon Bird of Prey next.
  23. Reminds me of a 60's type fast food joint, love the colours.
  24. I really like all the little detail you included.
  25. Nice modern architecture.
