  1. Just throw projects you are not at all passionate about. If you have too many that you are passionate about, then throw out the ones that doesn't bring anything new to the world of MOCs. For the rest, just practice some self discipline if you are concerned about having too many WIPs, which is IMHO not really a problem (unless you have limited space or limited inventory). I usually find it easier to jump to another project or part if I get stuck with something and keep a flow of continuous building by jumping back and forth (for me it usually only works with part of a single project, since I have limited inventory. In this case: self discipline and the urge to publish. I am pretty good at calling projects finished. One reason of the urge is that Technic is evolving. So a build can get outdated if you don't finish it in time. In this case: either start-over or throwing out the project. This is pretty hard. Drinking and sleeping on it helps).
  2. I thought you care much more about the mechanics than the looks
  3. From the beginning this was the most interesting set, and we are not disappointed. The steering system seems quite robust, they doubled the linkages connecting the two sides on both axles. I don't think it's possible to fit a differential anywhere there without making unacceptable sacrifices (for example big backlash all around the steering parts.) I don't think I need this set, nor I have the space, but I think I'm going to get it anyway... Will be hard to justify.
  4. Very nicel looking model, I love the color scheme. V8 engine?
  5. Somehow Ldraw topics are doing very bad on google search. Pretty much any time I searched for something (for example up-to-date ldraw.xml), everythng pointed to the Ldraw homepage. Maybe I use wrong keywords or I should just join the ldraw forum. BTW, how does one earn the LDD builder badge?
  6. You are too kind. My models are too simple for their size, it's not too hard to make reliable models this way. And they are not fool proof, even if that's always my intention. Principles and intentions alone don't make a good designer, and I still haven't proven my skills, even if I have the feeling in the over-emotional state of plublishing models.
  7. I also agree with that in general, I was only reflecting to that specific comment. Playibility, good construction are not of interest, only in case of the evil TLG with their Porsche. Okay, I also think that official designers should have been better but still I see double standard here.
  8. No, they wouldn't. People are much more forgiving with MOCs than with the Porsche. For example no HOG and unreliable gearboxes is okay if the model is big and looks good enough.
  9. I am just a hobbyist so I am totally out of any event or groups, and I haven't done much programming since years now, and when I was into it, I lived in the coutryside. BTW, I lived in Finland for almost a year. I did so much coding then, fun times...
  10. You are a very talented builder and that camera match trick you use on your videos is top notch and very stylish. I envy your skills man I felt this too.
  11. I don't know about live coding but I participated (and won) a 72-hour game making contest once. I guess a video record of the game making process would have been fun and educative (how to hack the life out of something and how to jump back and forth between coding and asset making if you are getting exhausted of one of them).
  12. Actually, I often feel the opposite. Programming is more rewarding, I experienced flow more often than with Lego. I don't know why I do Lego...
  13. Guys, that's Assembly. The complier is assembler. Sorry to be a language nazi, but it's a pain to see programmers saying assembler.
  14. Thank you. I found missing and wrongly oriented parts, I'll send the changes to you in a few days.
  15. I did some coding in assembly, and I used it for in C (inlined assembly code) to make custom hardware interrupt handlers for DOS. That time (my first years in programming) I was so obsessed to write everything from scratch that in the Tank Wars clone I managed to rule out almost all standad C liraries (such as stdlib) from my code. Of corse that was a stupid direction but was fun (and maybe beneficial in the long run).
  16. Games (2D), game prototypes (2D and 3D with OpenGL), editors and small tools in C for DOS and win32. Only as a hobby. Here's my portfolio: http://matelipkovics.blogspot.de/ Also you can check some stuff on my youtube channel (see signature). I haven't done much since 4-5 years because Lego became my main hobby. In my current job, I'm making an editor in my "spare" time in LabView.
  17. Hi all! I want to export from LDD to LDraw. LDD uses an ldraw.xml file to do the exporting. This files holds part name mapping and transformation information. I've tried to search on several places but all conversion files are very imprecise (position errors) and have some common parts (like panels) rotated totally wrong. Is there a "good" version at all, or how do you guy convert LDD files to mlcad files? I've searched on this forum too, but the only thing I could find is a guy, who corrected some mistakes one-by-one but the resulting corrected file is not posted in that thread (I think this thread is in the Section Index too). LDD version:4.3.9 MLCAD version: 3.40 I started to add some missing parts and correct some mistakes and when I realized that pretty much all parts have to be checked because pieces are +-0.5 ldraw unit off from each other. Or is it not even caused by the conversion file but LDD itself does the export this imprecisely? Thanks for any comments in advance and I will post the corrected conversion file however far I will get with it.
  18. Time to make a "Show us your Programming Portfolio" thread.
  19. This looks so tidy. What about um... Making the boom wider? At this scale and the overall tidy and cute look, I think it's perfectly okay to build chubbier models. Maybe you are concerned about symmetry (you want the boom to be in the center, so widening means narrowing the cockpit). Well, many machines have their booms off the center line.
  20. I envy you guys with dedicated Lego rooms. I cannot hope for such a room in the short or middle term. Game programming was a much better hobby in that regard. Maybe I should move back to that...
  21. My guess: Madoca block: Kuipers' pony car Kuipers block: Madoca's supercar
  22. Thank you I re-uploaded the lxf file for the telehandler: added a subgroup and rearranged things a bit. EDIT: same filename and link
  23. This one is much easier to build, my skills have somewhat improved. I did build the final version from preliminary LDD, and as I mentioned, the groups should be a good guide. There is a front part and a rear part of the chassis that needs to be joined with a few beams and pins. So it's not build from bottom to top.
