When did your collection reach critical mass?
Sid Sidious replied to Arigomi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Right now I've been building and building and building for Brickfete. I ran out of a lot of stuff ages ago, so i use what's left. I think my collection is limited less by its size, but by how I see each part's usefulness. -
AFOL: AF (as in after) OL (as in hold) MOC: Mock For Lego, I pronounce e as the number.

Review: 70008 - Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker
Sid Sidious replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This wasn't one of my favorite Chima sets, but seeing it closer in the review has started to sway my mind. I like the dark red, brown, and blue pieces, but I don't know if I have room for too many more black ones.- 42 replies

Look at the sweater on the guy at 1:04. I will be sorely disappointed if that never becomes a minifig torso. This building looks like an excellent example of contemporary architecture, and I think the plaza and open square in the middle are excellent ideas. I can't wait to see what it looks like. Hopefully I will be financially able to get to Denmark for the opening, so I guess I'm crossing my fingers for its opening to be postponed until 2025.

There will be both a regular sized moon base and micro moonbase at Brickfete 2013.

In the sticker sheet for 79006 The Council of Elrond, there is a stick with the Eye of Sauron on it. Where does this go? I can't see it on any of the images of the set.

I'm interested in seeing the Sydney Opera House. It seems like an architectural model will be using only basic pieces (like the Taj Mahal), so it could be really big for that price.

Concept for new Technic parts
Sid Sidious replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
All I want is a half pin with an axle instead of a pin. -
Dat clown... I'm loving the recolored afro and the print, but $10 is a bit much for what is basically two minifigures. I want to see what it looks like out of the box too.

ASK HERE MOC-stuck? Ask for general building advice here!
Sid Sidious replied to mrklaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In real life, Confederate soldiers wore whatever clothes they happened to have, so it was pretty common to see units with soldiers wearing bray, blue, green, tan, brown, black, etc. Basically any licensed torso from a military background without obvious insignia could work. Adventurers had some torsos that might also work. Some police (like the CM2 and CM9 traffic cops) could work, if they don't have obvious police designs. -
This set is one of my favorites from the new Castle, but that's only because it doesn't really have competition. I prefer brick built dragons, so I'm not going to get this one.

New to Fabuland and has questions.
Sid Sidious replied to Locomotive Annie's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well... -
I've had a few sets on BrickPicker where the value is extremely far off from the correct price. For example, some of my CMFs are $0.00 while a $17 polybag I own is valued at $390. If you do use BrickPicker, take the value with a grain of salt.

EB CMF Contest Results - Category 7A, 8A and 9A Winners
Sid Sidious replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Congratulations to all the winners! There were some great builds this contest, and good job to everyone who entered. -
I like these. The palm trees are a nice contrast to the suburban "white picket fence" houses I see up North, and the different wall and roof colors work well together. Also, why did you tag this with "oogabooga"?

I haven't heard anything about that. Where did you hear this?

See, I told you guys Buffalo had good wings. People are drooling on their keyboards from a picture. @tomdobs55 The pizza is thin compared to Chicago deep dish, but it isn't as thin as New York. @bacem It's bleu cheese sauce.

The pros and cons of being an exhibitor
Sid Sidious replied to ShaydDeGrai's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Excellent, thanks for both the answers. I f I do go, I'll go as an exhibitor. Maybe I'll even find a LUG from near here... -
Right now I'm listening to Rocket by Def Leppard. Now it's Splash by Sub Focus.

I live near Buffalo, NY, so we have some of the best pizza in the country, and hands down the best wings. In fact, that's what I'm having for dinner tonight. Below is a picture of wings from Duff's, widely regarded as one of (if not the) best wings restaurant in the world. Even the local gas station has wings that are far superior to some chains (cough cough Buffalo Wild Wings cough).

The Average Price of a LEGO piece on Bricklink
Sid Sidious replied to tchuk-norst's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm pretty sure there is a way to export prices from Bricklink to Excel using a third party program. If you can do this, type AVERAGE(Xn:Xm) Where Xn is the first cell of information and Xm is the last (make sure everything is in the same row or same column). I think this will only work for a specific part though. Bricklink is updated too often for the data to stay the same for every piece for longer than a few minutes, so the best way would most likely be using a script to simultaneously do what I mentioned above for every piece, and then taking a weighted average. -
The pros and cons of being an exhibitor
Sid Sidious replied to ShaydDeGrai's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Brickfete is coming up in July, and its the nearest fan event to where I live (Western New York). I've never gone to a fan event before, and I'm thinking about attending and possibly exhibiting, so I have a few questions. 1. Since I've never been to an AFOL event before, should I just go as a spectator to this one, or exhibit. 2. If I do exhibit, one of the MOCs I have is a SHIP. Would it be extremely inconvenient to carry this across international borders? It can break into smaller sections than the full 113 studs it is. 3. I'm not part of a LUG or other AFOL group. Is it frowned upon for exhibiting alone? 4. How many MOCs can/do people usually exhibit? I have a couple other smaller things that I might bring if I decide to exhibit. Thanks in advance for any help!
