I was thinking of both since they are so similar in both name (Imperial Soldiers and Imperial Guards) and appearance and were displayed together in the catalogs as one faction. Another toy that almost all kids in my neighborhood used to play with was Action Man and those we also used to bring to each other's houses and also play with outside. In the summer we used to bring large blankets outside and build and play with Lego on the lawn. Then it was very easy to fold the blanket and bring the bricks back inside. Are there any other Revolutionary Soldiers sets than the single collectible minifigure? I think that more sets are required before it can be counted as a subtheme. Such a theme or subtheme would be very cool and I hope more sets will be released someday because they are from the same era as all the Lego Pirates factions and would be an excellent addition.

We all lived quite close to each other and it was me and my neighbor who provided most sets. When I was 14 a local toy store asked me to to build a pirate and trains display in their display window. Then we filled up my dad's VW Golf station wagon with a lot of sets, baseplates and pieces and drove there and then I assembled it in their display window. It was a pirates vs. imperials battle with a lot of ships and fortresses with a 4564 Freight Rail Runner circling around the battle in an oval track layout. During the month it was there they sold a lot of Lego sets, more than they ever had sold before during a single month because all the kids saw the ships and the trains and wanted their parents to buy them something similar. The owner was very happy and gave me several free sets.

It's interesting to see that so many people like the Imperials most (me included), when I was a kid I remember it being 50:50 between imperials and pirates. But that's only my friends back then, me and two of my friends preferred the imperials while three others preferred the pirates. We used to arrange huge sea battles in the hallway in my house or in my neighbor's basement and it was an impressive sight when all brought their sets with them. I miss those days.

Space Police 1 builds from idea book 260
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
All Space Police 1 sets except 6831 Message Decoder can carry at least one cell. Even the smaller vehicles included in 6955 and 6986 have that function so it's nice to have some alternative system for prisoner transportation. The cable restraint would look cool in trans red but I believe that color isn't available for that piece. Maybe they have some force field that is keeping the Blacktron prisoner from moving?- 9 replies

Space Police 1 builds from idea book 260
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I'm planning to build some sort of Space Police monorail in the future and maybe a M-Tron monorail as well but I'll have to order some parts first because I don't want to disassemble my Futuron Monorail which is the centerpiece of my space layout. All the instructions in 260 are quite subtheme color accurate but those in the pictures have more varied colors and maybe that's to show kids what they can build even with a limited number of pieces.- 9 replies

Some pieces are still available from Pick a Brick. Is it old stock or are they still being produced? https://www.lego.com/en-fi/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick?color=47

It's a long time ago but I remember being in middle school around the year 2000 and discovering the TDF (Titanian Defense Force) website created by Scott Sanburn. He had a lot of MOCs based on Futuron and Space Police 1 and those were very inspirational for me because at that time I had only old catalogs for inspiration and didn't know about the Lego online fan community. That lead me to Brickshelf, Bricklink and LUGNET and with the help of my parents we started buying old sets and parts online because at that time new Lego sets were not that great. During those years I had the best teacher I have ever had and he helped me to print Lego instructions in color (only teachers were allowed to print in color). Unfortunately I can't find the Lego websites of Scott Sanburn anymore but I managed to find some of his photos on Brickshelf. https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=ssanburn

Any of those subthemes returning would make me very happy. Maybe Futuron or Space Police 1 is next?

These two Space Police 1 builds are from Lego Idea Book 260. Some parts that should be black are blue and vice versa but they are 90% true color wise to the idea book. Since Space Police 1 had very few small sets do you think these should have been real sets? Personally I like both builds very much because they look good and fill a void in the Space Police 1 lineup.

That would be fantastic. They should do it like they did with the Galaxy Explorer and the Blacktron Cruiser, keep the overall style, colors and original minifigs while using new parts and building techniques.
-
This is so beautiful. It's not only an amazing build but also fine art!
-
I also dislike stickers but I had to get the Blacktron Cruiser. It's an amazing set. You can buy the front part with print from Bricklink and replace it. For me it was very special to get the Blacktron Cruiser because I haven't experienced new Blacktron sets since the early 90's. In high school I spent countless hours drawing imaginary Space Police and Blacktron sets and dreaming about the return of Blacktron and Space Police but I had to settle for my own MOCs, therefore the Blacktron Cruiser is very special for me.

If it becomes reality I'll definitely buy two, one to build and one for the parts and minifigs to use in my own MOCs. It's so cool to see all the new parts in Classic Space colors and used in a space station. Seeing this makes me feel the same way I did when I was a kid and looked at space sets in the Lego catalog.

When did Lego Star Wars actually start?
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I found this Unitron video from Duckbricks where he discusses Lego Star Wars at 14:40 and he mentions 1994-1995. Mid 90s sounds very realistic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZURQ_ikk-YU Thank you for the information. Amazing that the discussions between Lego and Lucasfilm took place during six weeks in 1998 and then the first sets were released in 1999. That is very fast. -
I know that the first Lego Star Wars sets were released in 1999 but when did Lego and Lucasfilm start discussions about licensed Lego sets and when was the deal finalized?

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
SpacePolice89 replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I wonder why it's so expensive? It costs $89.99 while the Galaxy Explorer goes for $99.99. The Galaxy explorer has 1254 pieces and 76232 only has 420 pieces. I know that licensed sets are more expensive because of the license fees but this is crazy. -
This spacecraft captures the true Classic Space look. You have succeeded in creating a mini version of the new Galaxy Explorer. Small sets like this one should also be available along with the larger Icons sets.

The Technic and Bellville figures I don't mind because they have their own themes where minifigs wouldn't be suitable but I have a very strong dislike for the Jack Stone figures and the similar 4+ pirate figures. The Xalax Racers are just unnecessary.

What next vintage set could be recreated by TLG ?
SpacePolice89 replied to Khargeust's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So do I. A new version of 6278 Enchanted Island would be cool! -
Space (Space Police 1, Futuron, M-Tron, Ice Planet and Blacktron 1&2) Pirates (Imperial Guards & Soldiers) Town (mid 80s to mid 90s) Trains (9v) Castle (Black Falcons and Black Knights) These are my very favorite themes and subthemes. I'm also interested in other subthemes belonging to the themes mentioned above but the ones listed are my favorite. I also like Aquazone and modern themes that include sets that are related to the ones mentioned above.

I know that the green dragon is a pipe dream. I just happen to like the design of it very much and it is such an iconic creature, even the rollercoasters in the Legoland parks are modelled after it.

That's not true. The dragon first appeared in 1993 with the release of the Dragon Knights. There weren't even molded horses in 1983.
