SP1 Galactic Commander (picture heavy)
SpacePolice89 replied to Carefree_Dude's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Very beautiful! I like both the original and this one. This version should be released as an updated version just like the new Galaxy Explorer was. It's always nice to see Space Police stuff. -
71460 Mr Oz's Space bus - a space gem hiding in plain sight?
SpacePolice89 replied to JDurham's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
It's actually a very nice set and I'm not easily impressed. As you stated you just need to swap out the yellow for more appropriate space colors and you'll have a great spaceship. You can then add some Futuron or Exploriens astronauts or maybe create your own space faction. That set has a great selection of trans red canopies and visors. Perfect for Space Police MOCs. -

Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
SpacePolice89 replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I believe not. To be successful a theme needs continuity and enough sets regardless if it's licensed or not. Even Star Wars wouldn't be successful if they released 5-6 set every five years. -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

I completely agree with you. Although many of the GWP sets are amazing and should be offered as regular sets instead of being GWP. -
Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
SpacePolice89 replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The evidence is right in front of us. Up until 1999 we had continuous releases of Space, then Star Wars came and that ended. The same with Castle up until 2000, then Harry Potter was launched and no more Castle. After that there have only been sporadic releases of Castle and Space and even that ended in the mid 2010s while there have been new waves of SW and HP every year. Don't get me wrong, I like SW and HP but I have little interest in their Lego versions. In an ideal world there would be room for all themes both licensed and unlicensed but Lego doesn't seem willing to have so many themes which is probably wise. Therefore I would like more room for the original themes and new themes in the same spirit like many of the ideas offered here. -

While I prefer unlicensed Lego I know it's not even possible that Lego would consider going mostly unlicensed in the near to mid term future. I'm only expressing my own wishes and preferences. Of course I wish the mistakes made in the late 90s wouldn't have happened but I have to accept the realities and see Lego for what it is today. I may be a little bitter because they took away almost all themes that I like and replaced them with licensed ones. -
I don't think classic themes are dead as long as we get sets such as the Eldorado Fortress or the Galaxy Explorer to name a few recent releases of sets belonging to classic themes. The last few years have been pretty good with Castle, Pirate and Space sets but of course would I prefer a full lineup of sets readily available in stores. Maybe we'll get there someday if they continue to release sets related to classic themes. It would be a good idea to reintroduce the Legends line with sets that they still can manufacture.

@Yperio_BricksIf it was up to me to make the decision, yes that would be my choice but we all know that ain't gonna happen because Lego is nowadays very reliant on licenses. -

I was only thinking of minifigure scaled themes. Of course Friends has a permanent place in the lineup. As long as Ninjago is popular and selling well it should get new sets every year. If it was up to me 2024 would feature Classic+Creator+Friends+Town/City+Castle+Space+Pirates+Ninjago+Technic and two themes that would change every year (one licensed and one unlicensed). I believe such a theme would be insanely popular. I was so thrilled when they released the Santa Fe locomotives in the early 2000s, I still don't get why they stopped making those and discontinued the Hobby Train lineup. -
I think the design of the new Galaxy Explorer is true to the original. To just make a larger version of the original wouldn't be that much fun. Now we have two great spaceships that share the same overall design and looks but are not just up scaled copies of each other. I've been waiting for a set like this since 1996, that year I got the Explorien Starship and since then I've been just waiting and waiting and waiting for a new spaceship that I like and feel excited to buy and build, The new Galaxy Explorer made me and so many other people very very happy.

Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
SpacePolice89 replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's a good idea to rotate between different time periods but my original intention was to create something related to Pirates but still completely different, like Town and Trains. They are both related and share the same "universe". I'd rather see it expanded with more factions. We already have the Imperial Guards (redcoats) and Imperial Soldiers (bluecoats) so this theme could feature soldiers with yellow or white uniforms while still retaining the same overall designs as the guards and soldiers minifigures. Of course this theme wouldn't need to have new release every year and could rotate with other similar historic themes as you mentioned above. In my opinion only four themes should be permanent and those are Town(City)/Trains, Castle, Space and Pirates. -

I was inspired by the unreleased Europa theme but I intended this to be more like soldiers vs. highwaymen and bandits. A little bit like soldiers vs. pirates but on land this time. It's a shame that Europa didn't become reality, I would love such a theme. -

A history related Lego theme taking place in Europe in the late 1700s and early 1800s. Soldiers like the Imperial Guards or Imperial Soldiers could be carried over from Pirates and used in this theme just like Town and Trains sets overlap each other. Instead of pirates there would be bandits and highwaymen. -
I wonder why they didn't use the Imperial Soldier torso from the 2015 wave of pirate sets in the new Eldorado Fortress since they are almost identical to the new torso print? Personally I would have wanted a reissue of the original 1989 Imperial Soldiers in the Eldorado Fortress just like they did in the Galaxy Explorer with the classic astronauts and the Blacktron minifigure (+backprint) in the Blacktron Cruiser. Why do Space get reissues but Pirates and Castle gets updated minifigs?

I found this set (40372: Police MF Accessory Set) from 2020 on Brickset but I haven't seen it myself in any store or in a catalog. That is the latest unlicensed minifigure pack I could find. Among licensed sets 40525: Endgame Battle from 2022 is the newest. I didn't know about these minifigure packs before I searched for them but I believe they weren't readily available. I guess the 850839: Classic Pirate Set from 2013, 853219: Pirates of the Caribbean Battle Pack from 2011 and 852747: Pirates Battle Pack from 2009 are the latest pirate related minifigure packs. As far as I know the 2015 wave of pirate sets never got a minifigure pack.

Such battlepacks would be awesome and I'd likely buy several. I've many times wondered why they don't sell more battlepacks or just minifigures? I know that Lego can't sell Star Wars minifigures only due to some contract but what's stopping them with in house themes or other licensed themes? I recently ordered many Blacktron 1 minifigures (the reissue from the Blacktron Cruiser) from Lego Shop at Home but I had to order all the parts separately, the heads and legs came from Poland and the rest from Billund, Denmark. It would be great to be able to order only minifigures in whatever amount you want or would selling the new Imperial Soldiers separately take away sales from the new Eldorado Fortress? I have also wondered why they don't sell any minifigure they still can make the parts for, since both the new and old Imperial Soldiers and Guards all use the same parts. For example you could order 10x old Imperial Soldiers and 10x new Imperial Soldiers and they would print the torsos and parts for you and ship them. Or would it be too expensive to print so many different torso designs? Maybe they could have a minimum amount of figures you must order or something like that? What do you think?

Hello and welcome! There is a Pirate themed building contest going on right now and there's only a couple of days left to participate if you're interested.

Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
SpacePolice89 replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
@Classic_SpacemanThose catalog dioramas are true works of art. I can look at them for hours! -
I agree with you. City sets from that time period and maybe up to 2016 were almost like a second golden era. We still get some good City sets but they're quite few and far between.

Is this the set? Everything except the bow and arrow is there.
