What do you actually do with LEGO?
SpacePolice89 replied to John Carter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I mainly build sets and MOCs that I like to display either alone or part of larger dioramas that create. I like to look at my collection and open hatches and canopies of spaceships or other sets and move minifigures and vehicles around. I also like to take pictures of sets and minifigures both indoors and outdoors. And of course I like to operate all of my trains and build new track layouts. If there's little to do at work I like to plan for future MOCs and dioramas either on paper or using the computer. -
I like the set very much but original minifigure designs would've been so much better like the minifigs in the Galaxy Explorer and the Blacktron Cruiser.

That's a very good choice. The classic town minifigs are truly iconic.

Welcome to Eurobricks! What's your favorite classic town minifigure? I have several favorites but one is the classic fireman: https://brickset.com/minifigs/firec001/fire-classic-white-fire-helmet

Very nice build! I like the way you have created the soldiers. The green uniforms reminds me of Sharpe and the his riflemen.

Can I change my profile name?

You have to ask the admins for a name change. I believe you can do it once a year only. -

The standard parts you're talking about are bought from suppliers and follows standards and regulations and are therefore the same. Copying Lego Bricks is the same as copying a car design or the the design of a specific part like taillights.
-
That isn't even a comparable situation. All cars are different, they have different doors, engines, hoods, steering wheels etc. What the fake brick manufacturers are doing is directly copying Lego bricks. If they would make bricks that are a little different it would be okay, just like all cars are a little bit different. I drive a Chevy Cruze and it looks about the same as a Toyota Corolla sedan but if you look closer they are completely different and the parts aren't interchangeable. Imagine if I would build an identical car to the Ford Focus and call it Dorf Fosuc and sell it to people. That wouldn't be okay and that's exactly what the fake brick producers are doing.

They are all super cool! This is the style of builds I love to see. They are perfect in every aspect!!!!

deceive the customer using the fame of LEGO models

Lego should demand that fake sets should not be placed next to the real ones. -
I've heard similar complaints before but I can't remember where. Maybe it's just that new instructions are darker in general. I found this on Reddit:
-
Have you noticed that new instructions use very similar colors to represent black, gray, dark gray and white? At first I thought my eyesight had changed but then I looked at older instructions and there all the colors are very clear and easy to tell apart. I recently had my eyesight checked and I have perfect vision and see all colors. My dad has problems to tell green and blue apart but see all the other colors.

I prefer the Eldorado Fortress to the Lion Knights Castle because it looks more like a real Lego set although it's still very detailed and fills the requirements for a 18+ set. Icons sets shouldn't look too polished and should still have some resemblance to the original themes and sets. I think The Galaxy Explorer and Eldorado Fortress managed that perfectly. Don't get me wrong, I still like the Lion Knights Castle but I don't get the same feeling when I see it in comparison to the GE and EF which have that classic Lego look an feel.

I believe it'd be well received if it's well designed and detailed enough. A full wave of sets to support it and retail availability would definitely improve it's chances to be successful.
