  1. That statue's face is really neat!
  2. I like this, it looks like a secret meeting over a meal in a cellar. I have to disagree with some critique about the visible studs, this is Lego and you shouldn't always hide them all, I think you have just the right amount on display. (And is it just me or is the plate off-centre on the barrel lid?)
  3. It's a well made set piece with the perfect atmosphere to capture the dinginess. It kind of feels like just a section taken out of a larger build though, even with the behind the scenes look the edges seem a bit rough and unfinished. Tidying up the edges could help it look more like a complete diorama.
  4. Lots of NPU in this moc. From upside down minifigure shoulder armour for a ship hull, a Gryffindor logo for a sail, and an old square headlight brick. I have to be honest though, the minifig stickers on the 1x1 bricks are neat but I like it better without, they make it look a bit crowded and they seem just tad out of scale.
  5. I'm more of an Adventurers or Sci-fi fan but this sounds fun and will have a go at being a critic. I'm also a bit of a lurker around here most of the time so it gives me some motivation to engage with others. Might even try to make something small using Stud.io (but not even going to think about the large build category, I don't have the level of skill!)
  6. Your MOCs are very good at capturing classic Adventurer vibes.
  7. The number of M-tron minifigures in one photo is intimidating me.
  8. Cool find! Harry Cane, or Lars Looping, actually kind of makes sense as having originally been a bad guy. That way there would be three good guys and three bad guys. Wonder why it was changed?
  9. Cool! The tiles look like official prints!
  10. What about all the sets with an innocuous number of parts? With all the sets that have ever been released, some of them are bound to have a part count with a number with some "meaning." I don't know why you think such obvious bs is worth having a discussion over. People make up stuff all the time, doesn't mean we need to give it the time of day.
  11. Possibly, but I think it can still be done in a sensitive and respectful way by making some changes. Removing the Maharaja and Emperor as bad guys for example and turning them into allies or simply neutral entities wouldn't be a negative. And the Adventurers themselves don't have to be there to loot their treasures, they are simply... adventurers, exploring new places and rediscovering lost legends and helping the locals along the way.
  12. A full-on reboot of the theme is the least likely to happen, archaeology adventurers like Indiana Jones or Johnny Thunder don't seem to appeal to kids today like you said. Making a one-off tribute or "Icons" set is what I would want the most and I think the two most obvious choices would be either Sphinx Secret Surprise or Temple of Anubis (or you could even merge them into one). I agree with @Lion King about El Dorado Fortress being too faithful, if I was a Pirates fan I would be a smidge disappointed. My dream however would be for three reimagined sets from each subtheme: a hybrid of Sphinx Secret Surprise and Temple of Anubis for Desert (as above), Amazon Ancient Ruins for Jungle and then for Orient it would be a 3-in-1 set centred around Mount Everest with the temple at the summit, and then Scorpion Palace and Dragon Fortress on either side. Dino Island would need to be skipped since it would clash with Jurassic Park and is a bit of an oddity compared to the other three.
  13. What don't you like about it? I also like the CMF version better but will still get this version. The torso feels like an authentic modernisation of the classic version and the head is, as far as I can tell, identical to the CMF except with a 5 o'clock shadow (which can be used for variety). I don't like the brown pants so much however and would still like a new slouch hat.
  14. My expectations were never too high but it's still very underwhelming. After looking at the images a few times I will probably just get the red panda set for Johnny (and a cute animal) and save my money for something else that appeals to me more.
  15. Yes, by some movers who transported stole our things when moving home when I was 15. Including loads of Lego from the 70s that had been handed down from my older brother up until the 00s. I was already growing out of Lego at that time but that destroyed any lingering appeal.
  16. The CMF 'Jungle Explorer' as in my profile picture. Adventurers was and still is my favourite Lego theme and I think it's such a neat modern take on Johnny Thunder. The new version coming in Lego City might take its spot, but we'll see.
  17. Wha??? They're not fooling anyone! I know who that is!
  18. Will Johnny Thunder be in a Fortnite set? There was a rumour he was getting a skin in-game but it hasn't happened to the best of my knowledge (I don't play Fortnite) and with the new rumours that he will be making an appearance in some City-Jungle sets this year makes me think it could be a possibility. On a side-note: I'm desperate for any new Johnny Thunder content from Lego.
  19. Alcatra... I mean Police Prison Island 60419 has this canopy in trans-clear for the first time. I'm hoping to get it in BL sometime if it becomes more available so I can dye it yellow because I want to make a recreation of Blacktron's Alienator / Strider 6876 with it.
  20. Yeah, totally. I saw the rumour just before going to bed so got myself all worked up but have calmed down now. The part count is a little on the low side with the highest being 314 pieces, supposedly a water plane, which doesn't sound like it will be anything too substantial but I'd like to be surprised. The other two are said to be an ATV and off-road vehicle, stuff that Lego has done countless times before in City which honestly sounds rather boring unless they make them a bit more unique with an early 20th century design. I would like to see the water plane be similar to 5925 Island Hopper Or the off-road vehicle like 5934 Dino Tracker That would make them more unique. A hot air balloon or redesign of the Aero Nomad would also be cool But I'm getting myself too excited and hopeful again!
  21. After looking at these rumours again I'm beginning to feel a little underwhelmed. It comes across as more like regular "City" sets but with a cameo by Johnny Thunder, instead of something like "City Adventurers" à la the new "City Space." I hope at least we get some of the other characters like Pippin and Kilroy in some more "Adventure-y" outfits than in the Musuem and Orient Express or maybe it will open the door for a proper reboot in the near future.
  22. Aahh! Please be true! This is the kind of news I have been waiting for since the CMF Johnny Thunder released. I really hope they include Pippin and Kilroy as well, it would be nice to see modern renditions of them in more "adventure-y" attire! I literally just made a BL order to make a custom Pippin minifig.
  23. Childish? It's Lego! I think the difference in colour palettes is just Lego designers going with the latest trends as much as anything else does as well as it being more affordable now than in the past to have a bazillion molds and colours.
  24. I have seen some people do it on old light gray parts with success, but most focus on white. Some have shown dark gray and blue get a weird marble effect afterwards but light gray seems to come out okay. Thanks for the clarification on the proportions, would you still need UV or sunlight if using Vanish?
  25. The blimp I have isn't nearly that yellow, though it might be a bit hard to compare off-white to off-gray. There are a few stickers on it but I will remove them first since I am going to buy a full replacement set anyway if it turns out well.
