How does Vanish help? And, like @1963maniac said, what formula? I've read 3% hydrogen peroxide works fine, but how much Vanish should I add roughly, like grams per litre for example? I paid £45 for my blimp. It took a bit of patience to find so really don't want to mess up as I probably will only have one chance. Hopefully I can restore the colour and apply some replacement stickers so it looks fresh! I have not heard of plasti-dip being used for Lego. My first look into it, it seems a bit odd as though it's a sort of rubber coating? Not sure if that's an ideal solution but I will do a bit more research. Some of your points were what I was already considering, like equipment expense, adhesion of paint to a flexible surface, my lack of experience. Thanks for your input, I think I will stay away from this method at least for now. That special paint you mentioned sounds interesting though.

Recently I got set 5956 Expedition Balloon but the blimp / zeppelin itself is a little yellowed and so I've been thinking of using hydrogen peroxide to restore the colour (once the British sun comes back! Two big concerns I have however: Firstly, I have read that the yellow discolouration still returns quickly and worse than before regardless if it is kept out of direct sunlight or not though I am mindful to keep my Lego out of it. I do not want this to happen. Secondly, the two blimp sections are thinner and more flexible than your usual Lego pieces which makes me worried that the H2O2 could irreversably damage it. It is already prone to denting and stress marks where it screws together. Hydrogen peroxide supposedly affects different types of plastic differently and it's likely the blimp is made from something different to a regular Lego brick. Would it be a good or bad idea to do it this way? I want to know what other ways there are to do it but I'm having a hard timing finding any that are tried and tested as much. Another thing I was also thinking of was using some sort of spray paint instead since I know some people create custom parts and minifigs that way. Maybe even a colour that matches light bluish gray since I am hoping to make a more modernised recreation of the set sometime. Thoughts? Suggestions? Advice? :)

Mostly build and display. I've never been very good at MOCs but I find building sets from instructions very relaxing. Sometimes I'll take it apart just to put it back together again. Sometimes I'll modify existing sets but I don't have enough to always do it the way I'd like.

Aha. Thought they might be racesuits, but gave off more sci-fi "Tron" vibes.

That's cool. I was thinking of doing something like that with all the dinosaur and dragon costume minifigs, but just using a blank black head. Didn't realise there was something like this.- 9 replies

Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I like these ideas! It doesn't make sense. Why would 4-5 year olds give a toot about JP's 30th anniversary? -
Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Autumn replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
At best we will get one JP set, doubtfully anything from TLW or III. Though I'm not sure what other scenes or moments there are left to cover from the first movie that hasn't been done already. A playscale Jurassic Park gate could work or the InGen helicopter and landing pad with the waterfall would be nice. I also think another fossil skull is quite likely, triceratops wouldn't be a bad choice. -
Neither have the guards.
-
Me too, the roof looks nice. But... why so many guards for a single shop?
-
I think the cute friendly aliens are fine. Not everything needs to have conflict or be "good v bad," especially when it's been done many times before. It gives it an old school Lego vibe of simply peaceful exploration with fun builds and vehicles.

This is really nice. Feels like a movie poster for some 80s space opera.

[MOC] DreamZzz Santa's Sleigh

This is very creative! Love it! -
I'm still quite new to Bricklink and trying to part out a set. All the parts I need are on a wanted list, and after using "auto-select" I have got it down to three stores and a price I am happy with. What I want to do now is find items from a second wanted list with another parted out set (that I am happy to have only partially complete for now) and use auto-select again to find those parts from the stores I have already selected. I have already gone into each store manually and checked their inventory against my second wanted list but wanted to know if there is a way to automate it on the "Buy Wanted Lists" page so it will find the parts for me. It would make it easier to maybe swap one store for anotehr that will still complete my first wanted list but also have more parts, or rarer and pricier parts, on the second list.

I think I might agree with some people who say it was from 78 up until around 99, though there will always be some bias based on when someone grew up with Lego, which for me was the early 00s and I had a lot of older sets from my older siblings. Everything seemed to have changed around that time, with Lego picking up licenses for the first time which has affected original themes since, curved pieces (especially slopes and wedges which were extremely prevalent back then), phasing out and replacing colours, Bionicle and its impact on the brand. Aesthetically it has become increasingly detailed since then and less "blocky." Lego kind of overhauled the whole thing after some 20 years of evolution, almost like a reset. Someone younger than me might say the golden age was up to 2010 or something, which is still quite new to me since I had lost interest in Lego back then, but I guess it is pretty subjective. That's not to say I don't like modern Lego, it has just as much creativity and diversity as before.

Differences between Lego Sets in different Regions/Countrys
Autumn replied to Black Falcon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You made me go looking at old catalogues online and the earliest the Futuron name and logo appears in a UK catalogue is this one from 1990 on page 29 with the Blacktron logo right next to it. The Blacktron name appeared in earlier ones but not the logo. The UK and European ones must have differed slightly as well. What I find even more confusing is that Barron was renamed to Sam Sinister later on globally for Orient Expedition, but Haunted House 10273 is called "Manor von Barron" with a portrait of Barron / Sinister. Curiously, there is also a skeleton with a top hat that must be Sly Boots / Sinister. All the other characters seem to have their names well established, but those two's aren't so clear. -
Differences between Lego Sets in different Regions/Countrys
Autumn replied to Black Falcon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Don't forget there were other names for the Adventurers: Johnny was called Joe Freeman, Kilroy was Professor Articus, Pippin was Linda Lovely, Sam Sinister / Baron (whatever he's called, the guy with the hook) was Mr Hates, and Pharaoh Hotep was Ramses. I think it might have been in Germany only but not entirely sure about that. There was also the Slizers in Europe and Throwbots in America, with the latter one being a real boring name. Some sets came with extras in some regions, like the old Knights Kingdom II action figures would come with game cards in the US but not in the UK. I did see some comments about some people not remembering seeing any branding for space themes like Blacktron and Futuron, arguing that they were applied retrospectively, but I can definitely remember seeing those names in old catalogues when I was little. I wouldn't have called them that otherwise. -
Top 10 unlicensed Lego sets you want to be re-designed
Autumn replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was just copying how the other person did it above me, thought it was a good idea. Black Monarch would be a GWP due to its size. I really liked it when I was little. Maybe it was just because it had a glow in the dark ghost. I'm jelly you had Robo Guardian. It's on my wanted list (along with a load of other retro Lego). One of my favourite Lego giant robots / mechs of all time.- 24 replies

Top 10 unlicensed Lego sets you want to be re-designed
Autumn replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ooh, yes! I always wanted this when I was little. Even now it still looks so darn cool! Here's a list of my own: Sphinx Secret Surprise Expedition Balloon Aero Nomad I'll also put Robo Guardian Blacktron Strider Robo Raptor Black Monarch's Ghost It's a little hard for me to come up with ten, so seven will do unless I can think of more later. I don't like filling it up for the sake of it, these are all sets I either had and loved or wish I had when I was young, or I think are just too cool or fun.- 24 replies

Advent-urers Christmas Coundown!
Autumn replied to andhe's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The micro-blimp is my favourite! -
That's rather surprising (and frankly a little disappointing) because there's not really anything recognisable about the figure. She's never worn that hat and the jacket would have made more sense being green like before instead of teal, a colour we've never seen her wear before. The legs are red which was what she wore but... they're just red. The Johnny and Kilroy remakes are a lot more recognisable because of their distinguishing features: Johnny's moustache and expression along with his entire tan shirt with red neckerchief and rope slung over his shoulder; and then Kilroy's mutton chops and glasses and the jacket he wore during Orient Expedition. If no one pointed out that it is a remake of Pippin I would not have guessed.
