  1. Yes maybe, that would allow to make smaller locomotives an thus smaller trains that would fit a smaller budget. Circuit cube has a bluetooth hub that works via a small rechargable battery wich is 4x4x2 connected to a 2x4x1 motor so I guess this is not impossible technically.
  2. I also think the 3 train sets will be like the 60423 : a very simple train, a side build and some section of tracks. But WHAT IF ? What if those are the long awaited replacement for powered up ? Like those could have some miniaturised motors and hub that make them able to make smaller trains, like circuit cube. I know I am daydreaming but what do you think ? I agree.
  3. Given it's size, Smaug could be brickbuilt. I would find it way more nice in the context of an "adult" set. A big moulded dragon would be too toyish in my opinion.
  4. I also had this part-usage idea a long ago but did not use it for two pretty subjective reasons : - The circle inside the technic brick does not fit with the font of the other letters wich are pretty squarish. - It creates a hole that I don't find satisfying. Altough, technically, it fits.
  5. To follow up on the subject, here is the reworked "R" letter. Like I said it is way more solid this way. I agree the number 4 is not an easy. I tried my best to give think about a solution to submit to you but nothing satisfying came out. Thanks for your support !
  6. My boiler is actually closer to 4,5 studs wide. If you really want a 4 studs wide boiler, i think using 4x4 round bricks would be a better option.
  7. Ahah yes, that is indeed a good ways of making a boiler a this scale. Thanks for your comment, are you trying to build one or did you see one on the internet ? Thanks for your comment ! About the lettering, if you want to reproduce it, i might warn you that during the making of the instructions i changed the letter "R" for a more efficient technic. The one you see on the pictures is pretty lose. I might try to take a screenshot of my stud.io model to show you all. That's quite funny how the vision about a moc can be completly different depending of the people seing it. I would never have taught about making a Gordon moc but it seems that I almost made one by accident. I checked some reference pictures and if you remove the tender and paint it blue, my moc is indeed definitly Gordon.
  8. Thanks for your comment, are you trying to build Gordon ?
  9. Hey ! I’m not used to posting in this part of the forum, as I’m originally more of a Technic and Star Wars MOC builder. However, I’ve recently rekindled my love for trains. So here’s a MOC I first built a few years ago and recently updated using some of the new parts that have been released. It’s the LNER A1 in green livery, better known as the Flying Scotsman. You can find instructions here : https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-242693/Sebulba56/flying-scotsman/#details The MOC I’m presenting here is built in 6-wide. I chose this scale back then because I wanted it to run smoothly on the classic LEGO tracks I had. The locomotive is powered by a Powered-Up L motor, with the hub placed in the tender. There’s a gear train with a 20t-to-12t multiplication to give the loco some extra punch. For reference, the Flying Scotsman was once the fastest train in the world. Here are some pictures: After revisiting this old MOC, I’m now working on 8-wide trains, which are much more interesting and detailed (I have a GWR Small Prairie and a Shinkansen in the pipeline). Let me know if you’d like me to keep this thread updated with WIP shots of my trains. Looking forward to your feedback!
  10. Cool ! You should definitly share it ! Yes I just checked, all the blue parts are available in dark red. You could moreover use the 4x4 tiles with stickers of the 75301 so the moc would even use less parts.
  11. Thanks, you guessed it, that was exactly what I was aiming for. We lose a bit of the accuracy of those outstanding mocs but we really gain in solidity, playability and part count. Thanks for your comment !
  12. Oh nice, did not remember that one. Its a nice begining but would deserve some more greeblig to be nicer. It also lacks the iconic line on the equatorial side. Whatever, that concept is I think the better alternative for the folks who want a purely exterior display DS.
  13. Did anybody try to do a death star using the shape/structure of the set 21332 "Globe" ? I guess it would be an easy mod and a good alternative to this 1000$ death star. Plus the size would be pretty okay, the globe is not awfully large.
  14. I was just gonna say the same. They are obsviously rotating on that type of joint. The set still looks very cool though.
  15. Very nice mod, the coolest is that you only use parts from the original set. Makes this u-wing way more appealing !
