  1. Congrats! Exciting to see what you’ll be able to create in an official capacity. The MOCs you post are great. I hope the move goes well for you.
  2. I don’t think everything has to accommodate for everything. At the end of the day this is a LEGO forum and it is a space for that. I am not going to be talking about paper mache on an origami forum for example, even though they both are made of paper. I get you are passionate about other brands but it is tiring seeing them brought up at every unrelated topic. There are already other Facebook groups and Reddit pages where you can talk about these alternate brands, or even start your own blog/youtube channel where you can talk about whatever you want.
  3. But they didn’t match the soft axle colour to the metallic colour of the car… and it still looks like a turd when you compare it to the nicer blue version they made of the same model. Maybe Lego could pull off a reddish brown colour and make it look good, but I still don’t think it would be the best or most popular looking colour.
  4. Lots of potential for this model. Pretty exciting. And doing some quick research on the tyres used irl, it’s probably the first car that actually justifies using the larger 87.9mm tyres without ruining the scaling.
  5. I honestly think some of the best B-models are the ones that don’t share the same topic as the original model…. This is such a better idea than making another car out of the same set. Really well executed and love the creativity!
  6. I know right? Maybe somewhat makes sense if all we had was the Porsche. But after the other ones we’ve had… How’d we go from talking about a Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear to a Lotus Emira haha That said, as an Australian, if it was the new limited Bathurst addition I would be interested.
  7. Yellow is my favourite colour so far, nice job 👍🏼
  8. What an insane project, but I love all the progress so far. Everything is looking great! I think the black wheels looks cleaner on the forklift. 10+ years of working around them/on them and I don’t think I’ve ever seen yellow ones in real life.
  9. I think that looks a lot better than it did 👍🏼 Although I admit I’m still not sure how well these type of cars translate to technic… almost suit the Lego icons scale system cars better to get an around cleaner and smoother look.
  10. I don’t think all the system pieces with all the studs work very good for this model, especially around the hood. It creates the complete opposite look of the smooth surfaces that the car has.
  11. They look great together! Great functionality on the helicopter and the old type panels at the top really suit the model.
  12. It's not the best Lego can offer, but my point is that for the majority of people it is more than good enough for what they want. I even built a modified LBO version for myself, and even with my high standards I found it amongst the better building experiences I've had on rebrickable. What you get for the part count is very good, I don't think there are many sub 3000 part 1:8 cars that I like as much as this one. Your version would have to be exceptional for me to consider upgrading mine, and many people might not even bother or choose to buy the stolen one for 1/4 of the price instead. In this case, if you want to design the best lego can offer, it seems you would be doing it mainly for your own satisfaction instead of a business decision. I feel like the type of people that chase the very best designs represent quite a small section of people interested in lego technic, and most of those that do mostly build their own MOCs instead of making others... Seems to me there are some conflicting goals: Having as many people build and experience your models, making a living out of said models and building what you want without any limitations and red tape. Hard to do all of that at once... only way I see is to work for LEGO (or a clone company) to tick the first 2, and then build without limitation in your spare time and post them on rebrickable. Similar to what @Grohl (Milan) does.
  13. I respect the attempt to create an income out of this hobby, it's something I would never be brave enough to do. An even bolder move to try and do it when you don't have much of a following to begin with. I feel like most of the people that make somewhat decent money of rebrickable were doing it for years alongside their regular job first, many are probably still doing a regular job as well. Looking at your threads for the Nascar and the Bike, you clearly have the skill. I'm sorry it hasn't worked out as you hoped. 100% agree with everything you said here, and I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. But I think its very hard to compete if there is a B-model already out there of the model you are trying to design. EG: the wip renders of that 1:8 AMG black look amazing, I especially like the creative use of all the mudguard panels in the rear. But there is already this very popular B-model, the even better improved version, this other similar model, as well as CaDA's offical set that you have to compete with. Even if your model is the best of the lot, it still might be a poor subject choice if you are trying to make a living out of it. I feel like it is also harder to compete with all the clone companies now to... I can see why a lot of people won't bother collecting parts for a MOC if they can buy a cheaper/bigger complete model elsewhere. All that said, I hope you can find a way to still enjoy this hobby and building. Everything you've shown in this thread is looking great, I hope you can finish them. I personally just let work be work and hobbies be hobbies. I don't have to waste countless hours in studio making instructions for things and can just focus on enjoying building. If I don't feel like building for a month or 2, that's ok as well. Apart from the occasional reddit post, or updating my workbench on rebrickable, I hardly even show off my models now. I have a personal satisfaction and sense of achievement from what I build and that's enough for me at this point. I hope one day I can display some of work at some lego conventions/exhibitions and that will be the icing on the cake.
  14. I must be one of the few that’s actually excited for this set. This one looks so much better than the original (42141) they released. Yes it sucks about the rear tires still not being wider, but it’s still a massive improvement on the tires that we got with 42141. I never bought that set because it looked terrible, and haven’t bought any of the other F1 cars because it didn’t make sense to me to buy the teams I don’t support. So I’m looking forward to finally having an F1 car in the collection (once it goes on sale as always).
  15. Really good presentation of such a mechanically dense model. Would love to see a video of everything in action. The lockable diff with the steering is such a unique and will implemented idea, as well as the air jacks. Love the unique 3 seater layout reminiscent of the McLaren F1. I admit I like the lime version better as well, the mudguards look more balanced + no need for 3rd party parts. I am a bit confused with the mudguard selection on the LBO version, it looks as if they are around the round way. Did you try seeing what it looked like with the higher ones at the rear instead of the front, and the 'normal' ones at the front instead of the rear? (same way they are used in the P1)
  16. Really? We complain about the supercars being too similar and uninteresting every time they get released, but as soon as they might release something completely different we complain about that as well? The P1 had a v8 engine, why is it a negative this time? A mustang could have a few mechanical features not yet seen in the 1:8 lineup… - front mounted engine. - McPherson suspension at the front. - live multilink axle/suspension at the rear. - could have manual gearbox dependent on model it’s based on. - completely different style bodywork to everything previously. Sounds pretty good and interesting to me... + I think one would look good with the current line-up... Although I agree with what @chili just wrote, I think it would be unlikely to be the 1:8 car
  17. A models = 35% (none are completely stock and all have mods in some way) C models = 0% MOCS = 65% (half my own designs, half other peoples with my own mods)
  18. 1. Finally finished a MOC I has been working on for around 2.5 years... Also finally rebuilt the Bugatti Chiron in a way that I am happy with. Was a good year for dark blue pieces! There's a few photos of both on my recent rebrickable workbench posts. 2. Nothing really. I know there's a lot of negative talk with the way lego is going with official sets... but I mainly build MOC's, so all I care about is the new parts/recolours that are coming out, not the sets themselves. 3. Hopefully build a new model in a colour I haven't done yet... DBG is probably the most likely.
  19. Bugatti Bolide is AWD in real life. I don’t think they care about including that it this scale… although I would love to see it.
  20. This would easily be my favourite looking 1:8 CaDA set so far. The details are amazing, parts like being able to see the exhausts through the side skirts are so well done. I dare say I would almost even buy it if I didn’t have the normal version of this car in my Lego collection already. It’s a bit of a shame to have such good photos with the real car, and have parts of the model not put together properly (around the front fender) Does nobody check these things?
  21. Another great 1:12 model from you, been loving these size models you have been putting out. They all look awesome and mix the system/technic pieces really well. I think in this case I actually like the black model better than the red one, makes the taillights pop more. Door hinge mechanism is genius! Here's my understanding of it.... Open vs closed. Its very clever because it also limits how far the door can open.
  22. I’m a bit late to the party, but so happy to see that you finally got to finish this model! It looks great, for me the nicest looking 1:8 Ford GT MOC so far. The colour is really cool and well executed. Did you ever think of using regular blue instead of dark azure?
  23. Agreed! I love the dark blue colour. The set is definitely legit. I saw the completed renders almost 2 years ago when I was talking to the designer about CaDA related stuff. It’s great to see it finally get close to being on sale. That’s all I’ll say for now, I’ll wait for more official info to come out. But it’s definitely a great looking model!
  24. I could be wrong but 10197 in red finally as well? Behind the rear wheel arch panel
