  1. @SNIPE The other thing worth mentioning is that when the ride height is in its lowest (normal play state) the axles are rotated, lowering the bottom mounting position further down. This means the bottom face of the springs bottom out against the pairs of +o liftarms, taking a bit of the stress away from the gears. The gears take more load in the higher position but since the car doesn't spend much time in that position you can get away with it.
  2. Yup the part count suprised me initially…. But there are well over 1000+ parts in pin variants alone and then when you include all the details (4 bags adds 100ish pieces) it adds up quick. I think the fact that everything opens up adds to the part count - everything has to be more polished and detailed as everything both inside and out is on display. I hope you enjoy the rest of the build, the Italian flags near the mirrors is a nice touch
  3. Probably my favourite B-Model I’ve seen from the SP3 so far. The overall shape and proportions look very good! The door hinges are well done, it allows the doors to open nice and wide with a good range of motion - which is not easy to do. Thanks for sharing, I’m glad my model could be an inspiration as well
  4. Awesome! Look forward to seeing your version Thank you for the very nice words! Pagani's are very much works of art, so I hope we could do the car justice You're most welcome! Yes I have been thinking about that as well in regards to the Peugeot. Will see if it will be in LBG or DBG but even if the wheel arches are the correct ones there are still missing panels/parts in either colour... Will have to wait and see
  5. Thank you, I appreciate the nice words It doesn't matter how you release your model that will be the predictable consequence. You can buy multiple AliExpress versions of your Pista as well, its not like one can stop it from happening. I agree with what astyanax said, you've got nothing to loose by making it and then pulling it apart for your own Mocs later. I've done the same with other peoples Mocs, you might learn something new that you can apply to our own designs as well. It pops a lot more than the original one, I like it quite a lot more too Plus it was a nice chance to use some blue engine pistons for a change from the typical yellow ones.
  6. Thanks for the nice words and all your valuable contributions with the instruction testing! I'm so glad you enjoyed the model. White looks great with the gold! Thanks for sharing some nice photos as well. Believe me I was gutted when the dark blue wheel arches turned out to be a smaller size. I was really hoping that would open up even more colour opportunities...
  7. Yup, I am finally happy to announce the building instructions are now available! After @astyanax ridiculously reverse engineered the original model, it made me realise how much people wanted to actually build this model. So I reached out and asked him if he would be interested in making instructions and thankfully he was. I am so thankful for all your hard work with the project, it wouldn't be what it is today without you The final model has undergone even more changes compared to my original and then astyanax's version. The biggest changes are a new front splitter and rear diffuser (taking full advantage of the new parts that come in the bolide 42151). My rebuilt version is black with blue and silver accents, but it can be built in red or with gold accents like the original as well. Rest of the photos Now you can, thanks for being patient! Thanks for the comment! Hopefully you can build one soon Enjoy!
  8. @n2kar_jw Good luck with your build! I’m interested to see how you approach the dash when you get to it. The original looks so much better than what CaDa did, and I’m yet to see anyone who’s attempted to build it out of LEGO replicate the original dash. I really like that white/dark blue pista as well!
  9. @brunojj1 The black one was built by Vinkie116 - I saw some other photos elsewhere.... Built in all black with red tape for most of the accents. Not sure about the white version. The rims are from Technic-Rims.com although they are currently closed because they are catching up on the backlog of orders. I would also like to build the original all LEGO version but I don't think that will happen because the instructions aren't available and CADA changed so much of the model its not worth the hassle trying to reverse engineer there one back to what was originally intended...
  10. This is actually the Ferrari I wish LEGO did instead of the SP3. The newer bigger wheels/rims make a lot more sense for an SUV… plus a front engined, 4 door car would have really added some variety to the lineup. I was actually reading a review of this car yesterday and I am sorry but I agree with some of the above comments, the proportions are way out here. The model looks way too squashed and station wagon like. There are some areas I really like, the front nose with the headlights and the panel on the rear door overlapping the rear wheel arch are nicely done, and credit for doing it as a B-mode. But overall I think you could do a lot better if you ditched the B-model idea and fixed up the proportions.
  11. Haha smarty, well the cars definitely make the bookshelves seem cheap The latter of which were around $139au each which is pretty good considering it can hold 7 such cars on it.
  12. Yeah I just have 2 white bookshelves, 28cm deep and 75cm wide shelves. I have models on around half the shelves and books on the others. The 1:8 cars fit perfectly and they were pretty cheap.
  13. Great modification! Looks so much better now, it completely changes the look of the car. I like the details on the inside of the doors too! I noticed in the original roof you had a longer black flex axle at the top of the door. Now (because of the roof modification) you have a 7l flex axle a long with a and a . You could potentially replace all 3 parts with a black rigid hose if you wanted a cleaner look. They come in a more variety of lengths and you could probably find one you won't have to cut (maybe a 12l one) I also agree with some of the comments on the front of the car, it looks a bit flat without the proper cut outs for the vents + the front shouldn't be leaning forward like it is. But that's starting to nitpick and drill into the finer details. Now that you've fixed the roof I'm sure most people would be thrilled to build it the way it is, it's up to you on far you want to go to try and perfect all the little details. Seeing this has definitely inspired me to want to have a go at designing an older era classic car.
  14. If you are not willing to invest in more parts then you are always going to struggle. You need lots of different types of panels, as well as connectors/beams/fle axles/bionicle teeth etc… Some system elements can also be useful in certain cases. Red/Black pieces probably have the best overall part availability/variety at the moment so I would recommend building in that colour for the best chance of success. As for arranging such pieces to form a good looking car, that just takes practice and lots of it… you will get better the more models you build.
  15. The roof indeed looks better a stud lower, but I feel like those curved panels don't really work here. Seeing the overlay photo is nice, but sometimes it can be hard to see what's going on as everything blurs together. Looking at it like this... ... shows what I mean a bit better. The real roof is a lot flatter and this curved panels are messing up the lines that flow into the back of the car as well. Maybe some flatter panels like the Lambo Sian would work better? Personally I don't think these wheels match the era of car either but each to there own. On the positive side, the engine details along with the black stripe along the car is very well done! Good use of the new parts in the front lip as well. Its cool to see you mix it up a bit with a manual model instead of RC as well (although I wouldn't be surprised if an RC version follows as well )
  16. If it’s the same scale as the BMW without 80ish stickers then I’m all for that. I personally like the black/turquoise colour scheme. Although it will definatly be a ‘buy from Amazon when it’s on sale’ if it is indeed the same price with 400 pieces less…
  17. Far out this is absolutely amazing! Although I feel like it's something you would have to see in person to truly appreciate all the details/size of the model etc...
  18. Very good model! I like this a lot more than both the Zetros/Raptor sets. The easily removable bodywork is a nice touch, I've experimented with this too and its not easy to implement. Great write up as well, interesting to read. Thanks for sharing!
  19. This brings back some memories! Cool looking model so far. Very clean and smooth panel usage
  20. No its supposed to be the new Apollo EVO
  21. I have at most 2 models going at once. I can bounce between the projects as I get sick of/stuck on the other one. The good thing about building large scale models is that there's always something to work on. So when you get stuck on one area its easier to pick another area and get a start there. I might have half a dozen WIP sections going but at least they're all for the same model. I have ideas for other models but I don't dare start them until I finish a current one.
  22. This is a photo from the designer. Overall I think it looks decent (minus some of the stickers). IMO the proportions are a lot more accurate than the Jesko... However I admitedly prefer the designers Apollo IE over this one.
  23. This is really really good. I agree with the above comment, from a distance you can hardly tell that’s it’s LEGO! Super smooth looking model.
  24. Personally the only parts I've ever had crack are and the older type of before it got reinforced. Colour hasn't really seemed to matter.
