I know it's only LEGO and that it really isn't important, but at the same time, it's nerve wracking! I had a shipping notification on Saturday for some of the sets I ordered and they are due to arrive on Thursday. But The Thieves of Tortuga is still down as 'in process' and it's also making me nervous about whether they've got the stock levels right and there is one available for me. Good luck!

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
It looks like it will be a yellow box GWP similar to 6550800 Barracuda Seas, which was about the same piece count and 2400 points, so you'd expect it to be the same. I didn't get 6550800 Barracuda Seas as it wasn't hugely appealing. A pretty basic build, albeit a nostalgic reference to a classic theme. This could be similar, although it might pair well with 40786 Micro Command Centre (more pieces at 214, and only 2250 points), which would make it a lot more appealing, as there is a lot more play value to it. It's an expensive way to get a mini Galaxy Explorer though. -
2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
RichardGoring replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I've never really understood this. How much of a difference does six months make over four? Surely it's OK to wait? Although you also see people buying figures in newly released sets for large amounts of money on first release, and I don't understand that either. Especially when just a few weeks later they are often priced a lot lower. Do people really buy a $180 set they don't want for a few figures? Surely not, so LEGO are more likely to lose revenue, rather than gain it. Tin foil hat on. It could be that the money people say 'fine, have all the new elements, but let's set the price crazy high' and then when no one buys them, they can say that specialist elements don't need to be on PAB people don't buy them, so they should stay exclusive to sets... -
[OFFICIAL] LEGO Ideas® 21363 The Goonies - Released Nov 4
RichardGoring replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
I also think it looks really good. Although I also know that it's a strong blast of nostalgia that's driving it, it doesn't really matter, as seeing the set has brought a huge smile to my face and I'm looking forward to building it and introducing my children to the movie. The price is a bit steep, but in comparison with the Black Pearl, probably to be expected. -
Yes. There are reports on Reddit of the order being moved to In Progress, so should be shipping soon. My order (in the US) still says Backordered though. I'm also very much looking forward to the mushroom village. I have the Creator 3 in 1 Fox to build the squirrel alt build to go with it. I've recently built the insect collection to join my mushroom house.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
My final Standard PAB order to the US, placed on August 13 arrived today. I was planning to email LEGO this evening so great timing. Now I can finish building a midiscale Enterprise A! -
I was originally only interested in one, maybe two of series 6 - Outlaw Forest Den and Gold Mine Expedition. Turns out both looked good, appear to be well built, and have some cool functions. After looking into the others and reading/watching reviews, I was really impressed with the Off-road Adventure and think there will be a level of delight to the build that doesn't really come across in the final model. The Art Factory colour scheme really appealed, but then the thing that swung it for me was the range of play features and how it just seemed to be fun. I think my kids will really enjoy it. The Sequoia Tree Trail I ignored as it looks pretty sparse, but then I saw a very brief video and it looked so much better. I think the scale of it, and the angle of photography used don't do it justice. I ordered it, but as a separate order, in the hope that I see more of it and then can decide later. I was on the fence about the General Store, didn't order it, and later regretted it, so didn't want that to happen again. I think there is something about the BDP sets that I really enjoy building, so I'm tending to be less cautious with them. Series 7 has up to three appealing sets (to me). Series 8 could be all five, but could also be none, depending on the final execution.

[OFFICIAL] LEGO Ideas® 21363 The Goonies - Released Nov 4

The GWP looks decent. It's not critical, but a nice addition to the theming. I suspect I will get it on release as a result of the GWP. -

I think you could probably do a nice Minifigures scale citadel on top of a microscale base. Some forced perspective, the like Peter Pan flying over London set. -
[OFFICIAL] LEGO Ideas® 21363 The Goonies - Released Nov 4
RichardGoring replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
The set has leaked on Reddit. It gives me Indiana Jones vibes with a journey sequence through it, and while there is more space, it seems like there are fewer mechanisms. The side of the ship looks pretty blocky, which might be expected given that it's hiding a cave, but it's nicer than having a horrible/inconsistent back. Might add a lot to the cost though. It also doesn't look you'd make it into a real ship either. Figures look great. Have to say that it's bringing back huge nostalgia, and I will be so excited to share this movie with my kids when they're old enough. It's definitely on my buy list. I really like it. -

Torso looks good. I wonder if the hat will be repurposed or if this is it. It feels a bit small, but it could also be the angle. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Completely agree. I likely wouldn't MOC it, at least not much, so would keep the sets, but I won't buy it if I don't like it. And the idea of buying anything LOTR seems odd because that just encourages LEGO to keep making more of the same. I didn't get any of the BrickHeadz and I don't want them to make more. Minas Tirith as a location is surely a guaranteed some will hate it, and some will love it. Similar to the Death Slice. I personally really like it, and think it shows off everything really well, but it's obviously not a model of the Death Star. Minas Tirith is iconic because of its shape. Microscale and the figures look bad. Just the top and you lose the levels and majesty. A slice from the middle and it's derided. All of it and it's $10,000. -

LEGO Speed Champions 2025 rumors/speculations
RichardGoring replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
I think doing a small scene with display tracks is still worth it for a BTTF3 version. To be honest, I want to do that with 10300 too, but likely a lot easier (and cheaper) with this. It is a bit of a shame that it won't fit as standard, although I wonder if the interior could be hollowed out sufficiently to have internal wheels running on the track and then ones on the outside for show/scale? On the one hand, it's not a huge model so not a lot of space to plat with. On the other hand, not crazy expensive or time-consuming to play around with several ideas. This will be a fun project to try!- 135 replies

LEGO Speed Champions 2025 rumors/speculations
RichardGoring replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
It really is fabulous. And for a Speed Champions price as well. The original Ideas 21103 version was $35 in 2014, and this is $28 and of a similar size, let alone significantly better quality. It's not perfect, but for the scale it would be hard to do better. What train wheels would fit onto this for a BTTF3 version?- 135 replies

To be fair, 10300 was called Back to the Future Time Machine. I think in this case it's a licensing thing. They do not have the license to use the name DeLorean, and if memory serves, it wasn't mentioned in the instructions either. I feel like Racing Brick covered this in the review video. The name DeLorean was mentioned twice in the movie, I think? Mostly it was The Time Machine. The Black Pearl, however, was not only mentioned by that name many times across the entire movie series, it was in the name of the first movie!

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Is anyone in the US still waiting for a Pick a Brick Standard order to be delivered? I placed an order on Aug 9 and it was delivered about 2-3 weeks later. I place another order on Aug 13 and it's not arrived yet. Tomorrow will be 40 working days since the order. I'm pondering whether it's lost or got caught up in the US tariff/international shipping customs checks changeover. And I thought I would ask here for other experiences before contacting LEGO. -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
It's been quiet because the best winter village set is easily an ATAT and no one wants to give their position away to the enemy! I saw the train in person at a store the other day and it does look nice, if you don't think about the alternatives. It's really whether you get it if you already have another, and it doesn't feel compelling. I've seen some lovely MOCs on Rebrickable though, so might investigate some of this this year, if they do indeed get Pick a Brick back in the US soon. -

It feels like a disappointingly small list, but at the same time, I'm not surprised. But hopefully it's not a complete list and there are some more. Nice to be getting more details. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Welcome to Eurobricks! Nice ideas and a lot of people have expressed a desire for the first two, so you're in good company. Fancy dress shop would be fun. There's an alt build of the Disney castle that does this, using the figures as costumes, which I rather like. -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
RichardGoring replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The primary target customer for LEGO is still children and they tire of long and complex sets very easily. When it starts to become a chore rather than a joy, LEGO has failed. So this is a vital skill. I think they often do it so well with Friends, which I still hold to be the best overall theme that LEGO produces - creative builds, looks amazing, terrific play value. But the 18+ marketing allows them to do more detailed sets. As such, I don't see why they felt the need to simplify this. Maybe it was purely for budget reasons, but again, it seems odd, given the huge price points of many other sets. I bought it a while ago and think it's generally good. Yes, I wish it was a bit less expensive for what it is, or added more animals, or both! I don't feel tempted to buy a second for MOCs though, as it's not great value. Unlike the Ideas Viking village which is terrific value by comparison, and has been down to an astonishingly low price of $85 in the US recently. I got another one of those for MOCs! Edit: Actually, you know what, it may be really unfair to say MTS isn't decent value. I think it's the comparison with VV that makes it feel poor, or the downgrade from the prelim. Neither of which is terribly fair. And yet, here we are. -
DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
First impressions are that they are all reasonable. The Batmobiles seem fine for $30. I don't particularly admire any of the source vehicles though, so maybe that's why I'm not seeing huge flaws. They look like LEGO versions of things and I like the $30 price point. The logo looks decent, and I like greebled things. It might be fun for a small cheap... IT'S HOW MUCH? You thought it was $60? I looked and thought it was $30 like the cars. I might stretch to $40. Madness, for something that's a nice trinket. I got the Hulkbuster at about 50% off purely for Ransom Fern's build. Agreed that there's not much to be done with this, but I don't think it's a bad model as such, just bizarrely overpriced. My initial impressions of the Shadowbox were who wanted a large box, but the build inside is cool. I stand by that and think it had some great elements, but also a load of stuff you don't need. I had hoped it would go on clearance, but then it sold out before the end of the year. I am mildly disappointed that I didn't get it. At 50% off, I still don't think I would choose to buy the new logo. And at $80 it makes the Shadowbox look like amazing value! That's good to know. It definitely feels decently to scale with the figure, whereas the 1989 and BTAS ones feel a little on the large side (although I very much prefer both the builds and the subject matter of those two). -
Latest news about Lego animal moulds
RichardGoring replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I made a note to see if the arctic train went on Black Friday sale. Now I will definitely have to! I want a Powdered Up battery box, train motor, and controller, which is $85 separately, and now two arctic foxes are $22. If you break down those parts, the remaining 1500 pieces of the set cost $100, which is a great PPP! But honestly, if it goes on 25% discount, I might be tempted to get the whole thing.- 5,892 replies
