LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
JANG did a video suggesting adding an additional clear backed sticker, which sounds like a good idea. Shame there isn't a blue Minifigure in the set either. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Agreed. I rather liked the Stranger Things Creel House, but as a house, rather than something from the show (which I haven't seen, but would like to one day). I tried to order it on the evening of January 1, but the set was sold out. Curiously, the GWP was still showing as available, so I hoped that they would restock and I could get it. But then nothing. The sense of frustration has put me off the set completely. LEGO has lost $300 from me. I don't have a LEGO specific budget and buy the things I like, so it's not even going on another set. I suspect it will generate more bad feelings amongst more people if they keep doing this. -

At this kind of size, you could easily do the outside and then a cut away into the interior. You'd be missing a lot of the path, but you could get to the last stand room and I think it would be very satisfactory to have those two major scenes shown together with just a thin mountainside wall and door between them. -

They've pulled it off really well. Taking up most of the inside for a single scene allows it to work extremely well, and then the hidden scenes are a lovely bonus. The exterior looks great. It's pretty deep, so I wonder if there is a way to secure the front walls rather than them sitting loose. If not, display may be a challenge, although one that I look forward to tackling. -
Correct. I got these last week and the elephant legs and arms are red, brick suit is coral.

It's very tempting, but getting the torso print in the correct colour will be a pain. -
Avatar would be great, and maybe Netflix will be the bridge they needed to do it again.

This is gloriously menacing!

New leaks suggest TMNT and Monsters, Inc. will be getting BrickHeadz. Could those be the IPs for the new sets, alongside K-Pop Demon Hunters?

Had a notification that my replacement sticker sheet has been shipped. I wonder if it will be the second (also incorrect) version, or a third iteration that is fully corrected.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
RichardGoring replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I loved that movie, although the book was better Brickset looked back at polls of popular licenses from five years ago and many have since been made into sets - LEGO licensed sets: What is left to do? | Brickset Some good choices for future CMFs in there, several of which have been discussed as possible 'series 30' ones, per the rumour. -

Or, to put it another way, leakers used diffusion models to generate leaks before AI used it to generate images. Ahead of their times. I was so fascinated by that leak and thought it would have been great, but for the fact that the boxes had no identification on them. I bought a (cheap) gram scale for that series and it was entirely unreliable. So glad they've got QR codes now.- 5,876 replies

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

The problem with Orthanc is that the previous set was really large and fairly well detailed. It's only a little smaller than the more recent Barad-dûr, so I can't imagine a new version being a different size. Which means they'd end up with something pretty similar in all ways to the original set. That really limits the market potential for an Orthanc set, because there are lots of people who already have it. Whereas a UCS set of any other location is not owned by anyone, so a much larger market potential. Then there's the balance with demand, but there are at least half a dozen locations that are in equally high demand (if not more) than Orthanc, so I suspect it either won't happen, or it will be a long way down the list. The real driver of value for Orthanc set is the figures. You can buy the pieces for the tower for about $250. And you could easily place all the figures in other UCS location sets except probably Saruman. Saruman could be in a $100 booknook/diorama wizard's battle set very easily. And I think even those who have Orthanc would buy a new version of that at $100, but may not stretch to a $400 set. -
I'm with you on TNG, although Voyager is second on my list. A few months ago I built these NCC 1701 and A variants from Skyfox on Rebrickable - LEGO MOC The Star Trek Original Series Enterprise Bundle by Skyfoxbricks | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO - they're really good and also, by lovely coincidence, scale pretty well with the Enterprise D, as they're about half the length. I wonder if LEGO will go down that route or make it them same size as the Enterprise D.

The unicorn castle felt expensive for what you get, so please to be able to get a small unicorn at a sensible price (less than the cost on PAB), and with an excellent figure.- 5,876 replies

2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
RichardGoring replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's quite frustrating that they release a palette of parts to use and then change some of them, especially so for a part that sets the theme of the set. Having said that, getting a base for the snake knights with the shields available may end up being to the benefit of the set, but it's very lucky that they have a fine purple stripe and that snakes are associated with the desert. Otherwise it would be poorly matched or need a lot of redesign. -

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
OMG! $78 is so ludicrous! It's almost funny, especially as I think they're the worst part of the Black Pearl as they look too flat. The pricing differential between the same parts of different colours is getting somewhat ridiculous too. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I agree on the tower block. I built the Rebrickable SitComplex MOC a few years ago. It was fun to start off with, but I tired of the build experience somewhat by the third layer (I only did four and a small penthouse in total), as so much was the same. That's to be expected as it's a tower, but it's not necessarily going to lead to a great modular for a 20th anniversary. I dismantled it a while ago as it doesn't scale with the regular modulars (same with Home Alone, The Simpsons House) being too large (and then the Marvel ones, especially Sanctum Santorum, X-mansion, and Daily Bugle being too small). This is in part due to having to cram in the sitcom sets into each floor, and as they represent real locations, you can't stylize and shrink them like things are in the modulars. Also, it looked somewhat boring with a pretty consistent tower, and lacked the interest and variety you get from most modulars. None of which is to say that the designer isn't amazing, and it's a million time better than anything I could do. But it doesn't feel like it sits in the DNA of the Icons modulars.
