  1. Just got the Late Holiday 2020 catalog from LEGO and there are various 18+ sets in there listed in the Creator Expert section (Crocodile Locomotive, Ecto-1, Haunted House). It seems much more sensible to have these sets still inside a theme called Creator Expert with an 18+ rating rather than trying to have them as separate things that don't fit anywhere, and, critically, can't be found through browsing themes on the website.
  2. For the last few months, after the announced that Creator Expert was being replaced by 18+, none of the new sets we're in the Creator Expert section of the Lego website, which meant finishing then was really hard. They were listed in the naming tree as 'Miscellaneous'. Now, however, they are all back under Creator Expert, including the Ecto-1 and Colosseum. Makes it much easier to browse on the website.
  3. For what it's worth (not a lot), but to add a data point, I do consider the play features when getting modulars. If I don't think it's entertaining for my four year old to play with, I won't get it. However, I agree that a heavily prescribed storyline isn't needed - she can make up her own - but story starters are good. Ultimately though, it's about being able to do something with it. Some kind of play to bring it to life. I think the modulars generally do this well, although the rooms in the split building ones are a little small.
  4. The Creator 3in1 cat polybag was available at my local Legoland Discovery Center a few months before it become a GWP. Also, the Christmas Carol 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute has been confirmed to be available as a GWP for VIP members on Nov 21/22, but it's also for sale in Legoland Discovery Centers. No idea if that means that the MBoM will be a GWP, but there is precedent that would allow it to happen.
  5. I used the rankings tab to look at all of them, but good to know that it doesn't include tower bits. Although also a shame, as the car wash is only about 24 bricks high and I don't think I can make it any taller without spoiling the look (already up from about 20 on the original). I'm looking forward to building the rest and seeing how they fit together.
  6. That's brilliant! I'm putting together a variation of Bricky_Brick's car wash design from LEGO Ideas (which I love, but know it won't get approved because modulars never are), and his original is much shorter than the Downtown Diner that it will go next to. I've not built many of the modular yet, so it's good to see the height of the others. Didn't realise that the DD was the shortest. Shocked at just how big Ninjago City is too. Twice the height of DD. Wow.
  7. They are exclusive to Toys R Us, rather than a specific region. But if you don't have the stores in your region, then it feels like it.
  8. Just in case anyone in the US is looking, the tree house is back in stock in Amazon.com, but not (yet) S@H. For that matter, the rerelease of the Saturn V is also on Amazon too, but with the original set number.
  9. FWIW, I like the Diner. I wouldn't have bothered with modulars if it wasn't for the Diner. And now I've got several other modulars (and doing a MOC 50's modular with Bricks and Pieces to better match the Diner). So from LEGO's perspective, having a variety and trying something different could work well to bring new people into the range? n=1 though, so who knows.
  10. I panicked when I saw that the Tree House was listed as 'Sold Out' in the US, so bought in the UK and will collect it next time I visit. But now it's back to 'Temporarily Out of Stock' in the US again, so who knows. Would be both great and annoying if it becomes available in the US again.
  11. Thanks. Picked it up tonight. Looking forward to seeing the gardens to go with it.
  12. When sets retire, is there any warning? Downtown Diner is now out of stock everywhere, but it says Temporarily Out of Stock on the Lego website. Does this suggest it will come back before it's retired? Same with the Ideas Treehouse. I really hope I haven't missed them!
  13. And for anyone that follows the secondary market, does $450 for Ninjago City seem reasonable? I know it's more on Bricklink. Anyone tracked the eBay auction prices (roughly)? I suppose it's also about low availability.
  14. Sigh. Thanks. I thought as much, but worth checking. Will keep looking then. Currently thoroughly enjoying what I have, so no major rush.
  15. I'm pretty newly back into Lego this year, and was really impressed by Ninjago City. Even more annoyed when I realized that sets like that double in price once retired. And gutted that I missed it by only a few months. Anyway, with the new Gardens set next year, what are the chances of Ninjago City being rereleased with the gardens, or an I doomed to trawling the secondary seller sites?
