  1. From the dark and blurry photo it looks like a better build than the original submission, while maintaining a lot of what it appealing, which is great. I hope it's a little brighter and more colourful when the full set is revealed. Such a shame that they didn't manage to do the same with the Italian Riviera set, which was a very disappointing downgrade.
  2. I wonder if the new train will come with a small station? 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station is both a train (engine, tender, 2x carriages) and a station for $130 and 1074 pieces. A small little station would fit the winter village theme nicely.
  3. I think it looks good, and is far better than just a large sphere, which would be fragile, awkward to put anywhere, and just look a bit dull. I like the dioramas and think they offer good looking models with a fun build. To cram a load of them together into a circle is neat and it looks fine, but it feels like there are really only tree areas that draw the eye - the throne room (which we already have), the laser, and the shuttle bay. Everything else feels kind of small and cramped, which is a shame. If there are a load of functions across it (which there could be), then it might improve the prospect of it further. But the value of this to me might be in three $100 dioramas, rather than a single $1000 set. I'm glad it exists and I hope to see it in real life at some point, but I won't get the set.
  4. Mostly I hope it retains the old school styling and they don't suddenly do a modern passenger train, which would be awful.
  5. Quite incredibly that this is the one series where they decide every figure needs to be uniform with no variety. What a shame. Even more bizarre when you consider that they know how well animals sell.
  6. They have clearly been listening to you. Black cat will be in BAM from September 1st!
  7. They look good. Nice to have a black cat!
  8. Brick Clicker has said there will also be 40809 Festive Gingerbread House, 498 pieces for $40 and 40812 Snowman Ornaments, 168 pieces for $14. The gingerbread house might be WV compatible. I still haven't built the Disney Train, but we took the children to Disney World for the first time earlier in the year, so perhaps this is the Christmas that we open it as they've experienced the real thing. A three train Christmas!
  9. A new train would be great. At Christmas we get out the original train and then a City passenger train and the children both want the VW train as it's far more interesting, so this will bring a calmer environment to the festive season! At that price/piece count, it won't be motorized, will it? Which will be a shame, and also make it fairly expensive.
  10. Pirates are not known to conform to others...
  11. It's an extremely expensive WV set, and even if you break it down into 3x WV sets, I'm still not seeing the value. Meanwhile 76786 Morticia's Cottage is architecturally great, although would need a lot of replacement parts to put it into a winter village.
  12. The Enterprise D is definitely an oval. I think the shaping is accurate. As accurate as it can be at this scale using standard pieces in LEGO anyway.
  13. It's Reddit, which is extremely digital - all positive or all negative - viewing low resolution images. It is always the case that better resolution images and a full reveal bring greater clarity. There is also always going to be an issue with something the shape of the Enterprise D being made from model building blocks. BlueBrixx models suffered the same thing. And it feels like some people expect studio quality models. Let's hope the official images come soon.
  14. LEGO will choose to make as much money as possible in the most efficient way possible. If enough people buy the Pearl Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship and they think they can get away with a $500-$600 additional ship, they'll do it. They have the Titanic for $680. Rivendell was $500 three years ago and there's been a lot of inflation since then. The Death Star will be $1000. There have been several $800 Star Wars sets. The Bricklink Designer Program is showing LEGO that they can charge close to $400 and have sets sell out within days. But I do think that $500 or more for it will feel far too much, so who knows.
  15. There are parts of it that I think are terrific and I'm looking forward to seeing more and better pictures. I kind of hope that the windows on the circumference are stickers, as I don't particularly like the decoration, especially as there are no other windows on the saucer section, so I could not apply them. The phaser array flex tube looks pretty rough, so I'm interested to see that in more detail. Fortunately, it should be easy to remove.
  16. The ship looks great. I think the figures look good too, to be honest. I wish there were more of them, as the ship may feel pretty empty, but it should be full of life and activity. The name is bizarre, the price at $380 seems very high. I keep thinking back to PoBB for $200, which was smaller, but also had an island with it! Inflation and tariffs have been tough for the last five years! Looking forward to seeing more images and the ship in-person.
  17. Honestly, I was astonished that they did a Krusty Burger and not a remake of the Simpsons house or Kwik-E-Mart, both of which are far more iconic and it's been a long time, so a huge potential audience with all the 18+ Adults Welcome of the last few years. Another set would likely be the Android's Dungeon or the School, but we all really want Moe's tavern.
  18. Well, I started building this from my Pick a Brick order and realized that I messed up and skipped a load of stages when I was compiling parts. Sigh. Total cost for the siege tower (without figures or shields) is $63.95.
  19. I was never really a fan of TOS, having grown up with TNG, but I appreciated the movies. I've been building some of the Star Trek midi-scale Rebrickable models by skyfox2k and loving them. MOCs Designed by skyfox2k | Rebrickable Both the NC01 and NC01-A look terrific. Just had the parts delivered for the NC01 and the A looks sufficiently different that I may get that one too. I definitely think they could do a model of it. Although I might, just, prefer the next model to be the 1701-E, which looks terrific.
  20. Oh yes! Even worse! They were removed from my SitComplex being for being terrible.
  21. It was a rubber duckie and a full sized chicken, so really pretty far from the source material.
  22. I can only see one connection point on the left of the Arkham Asylum, leading me to think that the other is on the opposite side, and it's not a true interested corner, in LEGO's view. The broken fence and watch tower at that side could feasibly by at the front and not connected to anything. I eagerly await now photos of the neck and inside.
  23. It really does! That helmet/hair combo is far superior.
  24. I've just been comparing the official Italian Riviera set picture with the original submission. My first impression of the official image was that it's nice, but in a pretty small scale, as a lot of LEGO builds are moving towards. The single 1x3 windows, the 1x2 ingot shutters, and the height of each floor all seem smaller than they should be compared to a minifigure. But then, maybe that's OK as it's supposed to represent an old, small, compact town scene. Then I looked at the original submission - The Italian Riviera | LEGO® Ideas And it seems so much better. It's far larger, better proportioned, generally has nicer details (like the fountain, beach, vines, rocks, harbour railing, and window and planter varieties). Trying to be fair, you might expect that this would mean a huge piece count and loads of new colours or prints, but no. From the original submission: So LEGO has added 300 pieces to make the set feel smaller? Although now that I count the studs, it's about the same width (40) and height (22), although I think maybe 10 studs less deep, so it may be an optical illusion. Seeing it next to other modular building will probably be useful, so hoping the reviews and more photos do it justice.
