Nice job! It's cool to see a model of this little-remembered car. Also nice to see a proper manual transmission in it! I like the part usage for the headlights--there's just enough of those in the set! I'm sure the headlights could be improved using extra parts not included in the donor set, but this isn't a bad solution given the available parts!

Yeah, I think that's probably the root of it. Having some kind of half-stud there on top of the doors would be ideal, and would allow the rear second to go down to a more proportional 1.5. I suppose it could be done with overlapping 2x4 tiles, but that wouldn't really be up to standard Technic strength expectations. You're right, though, I don't know if anyone has done better at this scale, so there's probably not much you could do about it. I do like the choice to go for the removable roof, though! It's a good touch, despite the necessary compromises

Ooh, very nice! So that's only one Buwizz motor in there? That's some impressive speed and performance! I do like that skeletal bodywork quite a bit. Independent suspension does work very nicely for Lego off-roaders like that! I feel like I and others tend to build solid axles a lot, perhaps for ore realism and complexity, but independent systems just work so well! This is making me want to try to build something fast, fun, and simpler, but we'll see if I get around to that anytime soon...

Ooh, cool! The 3x13 frame could be handy, but the one I'm most interested in is the axle with pinhole connector in the top right! I feel like that's a part I've wanted many times The original article suggests that this part could be used with it, for some kind of gear drive from below: https://www.stonewars.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/LEGO-neue-teile-anmeldungen-02.jpg- 5,466 replies

Very nice job! You can tell that a lot of thought went into it. Great models for inspiration, too! That is some NPU for the grille! I'm not sure how I feel about the white wheels, though. It seems to give it more of a retro look that doesn't match the modern Jeep body that well. I would say that something feels a little off about the way the hardtop looks--maybe full studs are too large for proper proportioning? It's not a big deal, though, since you can always take them off! Great job!

This looks like a very high quality MOC, with lots of attention to detail, and a great aggressive look! Nice job! -
Yeah, you can definitely go deep with Mindstorms! The stock programming interface should be good if you prefer block-based programming, while the ev3dev/Pybricks (I think they're the same thing) is better for text-based programming (Python). One other thing you could look at is the multitude of books on the topic--here's a quick search I did with lots of options available! https://www.amazon.com/s?k=minstorms+ev3+idea+book&crid=8L84OPXY76PD&sprefix=minstorms+ev3+idea+book%2Caps%2C165&ref=nb_sb_noss I definitely wouldn't worry about it being obsolete or unsupported--I set my EV3 up this year, and it seems to be the strongest all-around Mindstorms generation of them all!

Impressive! Also, that's a clever technique to film two things at once using the mirror! -

I think my lateral stability wouldn't be very competitive! The hope is to run an event similar to this one we did last summer again: -

Ooh, another contest! It might be hard to find time to enter, since I'm also trying to finish a Trial Truck for the summer, and have travel plans for several weeks, but I'll give it a go! (Well, unless the topic is shockingly inconvenient for me!) -

Yeah, that's how I did it! No gear reduction to be had that way, but it's good and solid, and we have planetary hubs to help out further downstream -

Yeah, that's essentially how I built the frames for the locking differentials on my backhoe model. It should work well! I can't say I'd mind it if they made a new 7x7 frame for that kind of thing, though -

The Yamaha driving rings fit quite nicely with HD diffs in a 5-wide space, so it's probably possible to do it much more compactly now than it was before! (Singe with 3L driving rings the skinniest odd-width spacing possible was 7L) -

Yep, I expect that's what they'll be basing it on! Though the V8 is still an option, so Lego could go either way, and given that the V8 is more prestigious and likely more compact to implement, I'd guess they'd go that way.
