  1. Oh, so you're trying to custom mold them! That sounds like a better solution than just straight 3D-printing stuff, since TPU isn't really grippy enough Cool!
  2. Nice! It's quite an interesting model Anyways, good job to all the participants, and thanks for joining! I think it was a fun experiment to try, so maybe we can try another one at some point!
  3. Yep, that fills in the space! Are those extra wheels able to rotate? That could help off-roading a bit, as in this truck: http://sariel.pl/2010/09/fiat-spa35-dovunque/
  4. Thanks! I'm probably not going to bother with a winch anymore, since space is tight, and, well, motivation is lacking. Actually, I've spent a few hours this evening working on a completely separate MOC that I'm enjoying quite a bit! The suspension does have some really cool articulation and floatation, but there are some issues with stability, I'm finding. It's a good way to get an idea of the advantages/disadvantages of this style of suspension, though! Good to see some bodywork coming up on there! It's simple, but enough to make it a truck rather than just a chassis The mix of System and Technic here is fascinating! It's just such a different style from anything I'm used to! Very interesting functions too! Looking cool!
  5. Alright! I've gotten a roof rack, some lights, and some bumpers on, and generally cleaned stuff up, so I think I'm at a point where this could be done! Maybe I'll make a few tweaks yet, but probably not much
  6. I feel it... Chassis work is fun for me, but getting the bodywork done was a struggle, and so I guess I just threw together a pretty lazy shell for now
  7. Got some bodywork slapped on! It'll need some detail work to make it look better, but it's good to at least have the bulk of the space filled out:
  8. Looks like some good progress! I've found myself busy with lots of non-Technic things this weekend, so I honestly haven't spent as much time on this as I'd like. Still, I think the functionality might be done now, with a fully cross-linked suspension with lots of articulation, all the necessary motors in place, and a workable chassis. Now I guess I just need to neaten things up, build a bodywork, change anything required in testing, and then maybe see what other functions I can add. A winch, maybe?
  9. Impressively big and fast! Wow, you're using a Mindstorms NXT motor for drive, with two adapters to get it to run off a PF receiver? That's pretty unusual and cool! Why did you choose to go that way? Interesting choice of model! Yep, that's technically four axles!
  10. Here's an update before I head to bed! I've got the rest of the axles built, and a couple L-motors installed for drive. Gear ratios could definitely be changed going forward, so this is just a guess. I've also got most of the tricky parts of the crosslinking system in place, though it remains to be seen whether it'll have too much slack or not. Anyways, I think I'm in fairly good shape to get it done tomorrow! It'd be cool to finish up in just 24 hours instead of the full 48, but I'll have to see how it goes. That might be too ambitious!
  11. Ah, so yours is an 8x8 too! Nice job with that complex steering! Also, I can tell that you're Canadian because of that Mastercraft screwdriver on your desk! (Not to mention the obvious mention of it under your name)
  12. Hmm, I can't get the gears to skip under any circumstances, so I'd assume it's fine, but I'll see when more is put together That's quite similar in concept to my truck, though with fewer wheels and a different suspension style. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses! That definitely is an unconventional steering setup, but it looks like it should work alright! Wow, you're really grinding! You're right, there's no easy decision between gears and knob wheels. Knobs don't skip, but they are high resistance, and I've had problems with them just snapping in the past. Daytona diffs would be perfect for this sort of thing, except that there isn't an easy way to permanently lock them in an O-frame for off-road use
  13. So, I guess I should share what I'm working on: While working on my large 8x8 the other day, I was thinking it could be fun to do a small-scale 8x8 sometime, and I think the opportunity has struck! The plan is to use 56mm balloon tires all around, though because I don't have 8 of one kind, it'll probably be modern 56x26 ones on the front/rear steered axles, and older, wider, 56x30 ones on the inner axles. Drive will likely be via two L-motors, and steering via two servo motors. I'd like to do a complicated crosslinked pendular setup for suspension, but I'll have to see if I need to simplify that to get everything to fit. Anyways, here's my design for a front axle! I'm pretty happy with the compactness and rigidity of it, so we'll see where it goes from here! I'm going out this evening, so this'll likely be my last update of my EST day, unless I decide to stay up late and grind some more out
  14. Not unless they're all inline with each other (3-wheel "bicycle"?), I guess!
  15. That is cool! Interesting how split up the gearbox is--should be fairly durable!
  16. Hehe! I've been working on an large 8x8 trial truck myself for the past few days, but I'll have to come up with something else for this challenge. Time to start thinking!
  17. Welcome to the first Eurobricks 48-hour MOC challenge! After rolling a virtual die to choose between the six options on our list, the official selection for our topic is: A Vehicle with at least Three Axles! As mentioned before, this challenge will be running from 10:00 PM GMT on March 8, 2024, through to 10:00 PM GMT on March 10 2024, though you're definitely not expected to do a marathon 48-hour build session! You should have some time to live life in there--I know I'll be out of the apartment multiple times over the weekend, not to mention eating and sleeping... I hope you'll all also have time to post WIP images and discussion in this thread during (and after) the build period--after all, if there's no community back-and-forth about the challenge, we might as well just be doing this on our own without any event framework. Remember, this isn't a contest, so there won't be winners or judging. Because of that, there's not going to be strict rules--just build a MOC like you usually would (with however much or little purism you feel like using), follow the basic topic, and try to get it done in time! Anyways, enjoy building!
  18. That anniversary edition was a big inspiration of mine! That would have been interesting to try, but I was willing to let it just be a very custom bike
  19. Yep, that's a good idea! I can make a new post at the appointed time--unless @Jim thinks it would be better to keep it in here. I'll link the new topic into here, though, to make it clear where things are moving to
  20. I'm pretty sure the CADA plug is completely separate from the PU plug, and is instead a proprietary connection. It is annoying that they'd be entirely different, but I think they felt they had to for copyright reasons
  21. Yep, I was just getting ready to clean off my desk last night when I read @letsbuild's post! I'd say it's fine! It's just for fun anyways
  22. Here's a reminder that we'll be starting the challenge in 24 hours and 43 minutes! I'll randomly select a topic from our list then, and post it on here for you all to see. Looking forward to it!
