Fifth Element has hover cars too and is fairly recent. That train has a bit of a Art Deco feel. I want to see more Art Deco style MOCs!

The Greatest Collectible Minifigure THANKS AND GOODBYE
danth replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd like to see some stats when this is all over. Like warrior vs non-warrior, sports vs non sports, licensed vs non licensed, male vs female. It would be interesting to see if there are general preferences at work.- 2,045 replies

The front wheel well is an eyesore but not a dealbreaker -- I'm sure there's an easy mod to fix it.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
danth replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Those Atlantis sets were so good. I miss non-licensed, exploration based themes. I had another Lego dream last night. I was in a toy store and they had NEW Classic Space Lego sets. It was a little set with transparent yellow windscreens and a space man. It even had the yellow Legoland banner in the top left! I was like "What year is it?" Then I noticed this was part of a two-pack with a Friends set (which of course makes no sense) so I new I wasn't back in the 80's. I quickly realized that this still had to be a dream. But while I was holding that set in my hand I was soooo happy.- 991 replies

I don't really consider this a "real" set. It's just an official alt-build of two other much better sets. Kind of like that M-Tron Secret Space Voyager except I guess this one was actually released in its own box. Still if I had this I would just build the Surface Explorer & Starfleet Voyager out of it.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
danth replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I never really bought the argument that the underwater themes or Rock Raiders were space themes. Maybe inspired by or originating from prototype space themes (Seatron), sure, but not actual space themes themselves. A space mecha theme would be amazing. Especially if it used existing Space factions/color schemes.- 991 replies

The best part about this mod is the wings won't sag after the hinge gets loose.

As it should be! I love Space MOCs like yours without weapons, just sensors and science rockets.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
danth replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
THAT VIDEO IS AWESOME! I LOVE the laser grid background! They really nailed the 80's Sci Fi feel. Cannot wait to play this. Also I'd like to point out that these little throwbacks make me really nostalgic and more likely to buy Lego in general. Every time Lego release something like the Exo Suit or Benny's Spaceship I end up buying lots more Lego overall just for the feels. I guess what I'm saying is it's stupid for Lego to not throw us older fans a nostalgic bone every once in a while. We have kids and nieces and nephews so if you pull us back in, it's more than just the few sets we buy for ourselves.- 991 replies

I honestly think themed Creator sets are a 100% slam dunk idea that would give so many fans exactly what they want. AFOLs remember from their childhood sets that: Had alternate builds Had classic themes Were not licensed; we made up the stories and characters Did not have stickers Had the "Classic" smilies Also AFOLs (being adults) generally like builds without large/specialized parts. And we're willing to spend a little more for deluxe sets since we have disposable income. Creator sets hit EVERY one of these items! If they released one Space and one Castle (Expert?) Creator set a year in different subthemes I think they would fly off the shelves. Since Creator sets have versatile brick selections by design (wheels that double as thrusters, etc) obviously fans would by in multiples basically as parts packs to build MOCs. @Nabii, do you Lego would ever go for something like this?

I think Friends/Elves has some aesthetics similar to Fabuland, mainly the fanciful buildings and vehicles. The colors and sort of woodland vibe of Elves also seem like something that would work for a friendly animal theme. So if Fabuland came back I bet it would be a sister theme to Friends or Elves.

I guess I didn't put my question in actual question form: Would Classic Space and/or Classic Castle themed Expert Creator sets be a possibility? And if not, why not?

As others have said I'd really like to see themed Expert Creator sets like Classic Space or Classic Castle. The existing Expert Creator sets are basically deluxe City/Town sets so why not throw sci-fi and castle fans a bone? Many of us AFOLS dearly miss classic themes are and tired of Star Wars/etc. We miss the classic smileys and don't like stickers. We miss alternate builds from the back of the box. Expert Creator is perfect for us because it has classic smileys, usually no stickers, and alternate builds! But we need a space ship or castle every once in a while! And we really miss these guys:
