  1. Stick them in a fine mesh bag and put them through the dishwasher
  2. I just watched the video you made. Fantastic original model. I love the movement on the turrets. what are the hubs you have used for barrels? They look very useful.
  3. @johnnym Ive built an lxf of the radial engine if you would like a copy i can mail it over. I havent added the pistons as its pretty obvious where they go. Also, The 5 levers used to make the sides can be replaced with 6l half lift arms with a very very slight squeeze.
  4. Thanks for the kind words. I agree about the yellow grips. I intend to change them out but I need to decide on an exhaust system first. I’ll try and build a digital model of the radial engine when the bike is all done. I’m thinking about building one about 20cm diameter with working valve train etc when I’m finished building my A10 so a digital model of this will be good practice.
  5. I really like your steering mechanism. You’ve ended up with similar wheels to the ones I’ve used and the way you’ve done the steering is brilliant.
  6. Thanks! The white and red parts were stand ins while I waited for some more lime to arrive. I’ve tweaked loads of it today. Made it stiffer, changed the headlights, tidied the chassis up and made it even more green.
  7. No worries. It’s a tricky one to get to align, particularly with the flex cable but it’s working surprisingly well now. the bodywork is starting to head in the right direction. If I can include a rear brake and pop up headlight I will build them in.
  8. That’s the look I was going for. Update: I rebuilt both swing arms and a box to counter the backlash in the handlebars. Added a 2 speed foot shifting gearbox. I think with that engine, you’d only need 2 gears anyway.
  9. Just buy any set you think looks cool and get used to studless building. You’ll also get a feel for what you like to make while you do that, then just start building stuff. It will snowball from there.
  10. This is fantastic! Question: do you have any specs on your custom springs? My approach has been a bit haphazard and I now have a box full to the brim with assorted springs, none of which are any good.
  11. Also, those tapered panels from the Sian in red. Very useful.
  12. This is great! I remember my dad building a version of that out of Lego when I was a kid to show me how the transmission in Daf cars worked.
  13. Thanks man. I’ve been sketching some bodywork ideas and got the steering working fine with the flex cable. I have to work out a gear shifter mechanism and see where the bodywork ends up.
  14. This is definitely my favourite bike in this competition. The space frame is brilliant. And keeping all the functions into that tiny footprint is quite a feat.
  15. Yeah but more in terms of the concept of the long wheelbase and a kind of opening clamshell with a really low seat. I haven’t designed the bodywork yet so I’ll see where I end up
  16. Hmm. I shall look into using 2 cables. I’ll see if I can get one on the back of the hub. Cheers! feel free to use the radial engine. It looks nice staggered by a stud between each cylinder too, which could really suit some planes.
  17. Thanks! As I was building it I was mentally pricing up the parts to make four and put them on a huge bomber. I think I’ll be putting way more support along the flex cable. It worked fine when there wasn’t a massive engine in the way but I’ll have to build a really small steering box to get it to work. I plan on speeder bike style handlebars.
  18. Update: I had an unsuccessful attempt at building a radial engine and started putting a longitudinal inline three cylinder in the bike, then I decided to persevere and spent some time over the last couple of days building a 6 cylinder radial engine and then rebuilding the chassis around it. The engine was really tricky to align the array of cylinders and make a crank and conrod system that worked. I’ve ended up with a crank moving a pulley wheel with the pistons attached to it. The pulley wheel is not allowed to rotate as the con rods would foul on each other so it has a system of floating sliding squares to allow it to move but not rotate. So now I have a radial engine powered cyberpunk drag bike with hub centre steering and a two speed gearbox. Next is the opening clamshell canopy and link up the flex cable steering.
  19. This reminds me of the “Batavus Go-Go” I had as a teenager. It was a fetching shade of aubergine. The front end you have built looks great already. Do you plan to make the pedals disengage from the drive when the engine is running?
  20. I believe this to be the worlds most popular motor bike?
  21. I spent a bit of time trying to simplify the front swing arm and hub and have ended up changing the hub to make it less bulky and using a lift arm. I’ve built a rear hub with shaft drive built in. the rear suspension has to pop up into a high position when the front fairing lifts up.
  22. This could well end up like judge dredds bike judging by the wheels.
  23. For me it’s trying to make less convoluted mechanisms. I often struggle with the fact, particularly on my current moc, that the ideal position for the functional result, eg: engine input is at odds with the gearbox output. I’ve started going back to stage 0 when this happens now and trying to rebuild any variable bits I can.
  24. And a bitch to build on a purely mechanical level!
  25. all help is gratefully appreciated. I bought a huge box of bionicles last year for 20 euros, it contained over 30 full bionicle characters so I have huge amounts of all the weird bits they come with. I think I’ll try to use loads up on this.
