The journey of Parzival - The Goat-Farmer (Chapter II, part III)
Gray Gear replied to Zilmrud's topic in Guilds of Historica
The stone ground design looks really cool! But are the bricks fixed someow or will they just fall out if you flip it around? -
Wow, using the studs to create a darked shadow black in the cheek area worked surprisingly well! A really nice piece of work I have to admit, even thoughI think the LEGO mosaics are boring in general

Looking good! I like the minimalistic design. The front suspension is interesting and unususal, but the straight rear wheels and the positive cambered front wheels don't look great together imo. Oberall a very nice MOC, well done!

Would be great if it had a pinhole so you could get grip on the stop side to pull it out- 5,466 replies

As far as I know this is not a brick that exists. What alternative to use depends on where and how you want to use it.- 5,466 replies

[WIP] Ford GT
Gray Gear replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The change to the roof is an improvement for sure I would suggest to move the exhaust pipes a bit apart if there is enough space. They look to close to each other and maybe a bit too large imo. But idk. Also, side note: I find it very weird how the sideskirts move up with the doors as well. I always thought those woult stay put, but you implemented it very well -

I think you are making a mistake. Yes, the T-Beam in the video is from an alternative brand. But why would that matter to rebrickable? The MOC can be built using LEGO parts, and the brick in the part list is the LEGO version. This does not mean Rebrickable is allowing bricks from alternative brands. They just don't mind if the MOCer uses them himself, as long as the MOC can still be built using LEGO bricks (and spaypaint, custom prints and stickers)- 5,466 replies

Not really, I already have a few other ideas where I want to try to use this brick in my next 1:8 Supercar. I will have to get some at the first good chance I get...- 5,466 replies

Huge props for the shaping of the angled windows! Very nice engine. Well done!

I like the looks! Wouldn't this fit the 7wide tracks from the CAT perfectly? I also like the solution to put the motors inside the tracks. IRL this would be a terrible idea as it would increase unsprung weight which is very bad, but in LEGO that shouldn't really matter and saves a lot of space

What I can say is that it is much easier for a person not familiar with the vehicle to see how it is supposed to be used with the second version

[MOC] Nissan 240SX
Gray Gear replied to BB8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have been working on my own 180SX in 1:8 scale for a few months, so I know the 180SX pretty well now. First of all: Huge props for making working pop-ups at this small scale. Well done. Rear of the car is also very recognizable, I like the combination of technic and system. But one thing I noticed right away is that the windshield is not the correct shape, too high or not wide enough. Also the upper flex axle on the rear windows should be improved, I'd suggest to use rigid hoses here instead Thx for sharing m8 -
WRX by Filsawgood
Gray Gear replied to FriedlS's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice drifting. But the looks are not good imo, there is no way I would have recognized this is supposed to be a WRX. Also, why is there such a big hule in the rear bumper? -

Why would you even buy pneumatic hose or string from LEGO? Lego is just buying them from other companies as well, so you might as well buy it directly instead of paying TLG the high resell price. Plus, if not from LEGO finding longer lengths will be easy.- 5,466 replies

Looks really cool! Please make a vid showing the spinning brushes in action and show the insides too! One thing I find funny is the V8 badge in the front while there is only a V2 inside -
[MOC] JCB WFT
Gray Gear replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The solution for the steering is intersting, but using a blue 20T clutch gear would have been simpler and better imo. As for the tractor, I think this is very ugly. Both the real version and your model. But i guess that means you did a good job recreating it -
Of all the things one could complain about on this set the tires are the biggest issue imo. This looks like a mediocre MOC solution at best. I am happy this is none of my problems and I can just have a good laugh TLG is too lazy to make tires the same way they did back then for the Silver Champion years ago. Not only do they cheap out on the tire prints, no, they use completely wrong wheels and slap a round tile with a sticker on top in an attempt to make the sidewall look slimmer. Build for Real my a$$ What a joke

Generic Contest Discussion
Gray Gear replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Regarding piece count instructions would help. The Parts list on rebrickable would allow for easy check of piece count. Making instructions mandatory would be ok with me. It would allow for plenty of small builds many can build But judging the instructions as well is a bad idea imo. Yes, but this is a LEGO contest, not a instruction making contest. It is like the photo contests on facebook, where the photography skills are just as important as the MOC itself. But that is not the purpose of a "build a polybag" contest. Also, would you really like to judge 50 building instructions on how thought-out the assembly is? I know I have better things to do -

Gray Gear replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The idea sounds really cool. Since it shouldn't take a huge mount of time to create such a small model I might participate as well if a nice idea strikes me. I don't think the assembly process of a polybag will really that difficult to make instructions for. But including Instructions in the judging criteria will give people who have experience making instructions a huge advantage. I don't know how to feel about that.
