Generic Contest Discussion
Jundis replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Given the great model from @Thirdwigg, how about a theme based on "Remakes of a studded time"? I am also against military vehicles. Don't get me wrong, some tanks are impressive but Technic has so much more to offer... -
Such a cool remake! I remember my childhood days scanning through the Lego catalog and seeing this cars which seem so technical I could never believe how they could be designed with this unusual angles in contrast to System/City cars. Thanks for bringing back memories :-)

[MOC] REXX Truck 1:15
Jundis replied to KirTech LAB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What a beast! Thats why the Claas tractor wheels are so expensive on bricklink xD And... Motorized wipers! -
[moc] RC dump (of a) truck
Jundis replied to suffocation's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is the understatement of the century. This thing looks perfectly balanced for a toy model. So sturdy and efficiently built. I am completely speechless at how fast you can built such a thing. -
Nico71's Creations
Jundis replied to nico71's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh my god... I just saw a video of this thing and thought "Strange nobody built this so far". This has to be one of the best technic models I've seen in a long time. It is visually perfect and the technic is more than impressive: Speed and climbing ability is superb. Watch out as I've already see that this will be rebuilt by a third party... -
I've recently watched some YT videos about Lego competitors who brought in the long discussed idea for supplement sets, especially for agriculture machinery. Do you think TLC will give this idea a closer look? It's now very obvious that the market for sets for adults is rising rapidly, so is there maybe a chance that the 18+ label (which is purely marketing and has nothing to do with building experience) will turn into a more serious branch of the Technic tree? I mean with models like 8110 and 42054, this would be a little step. It would be also ok if these supplement sets would not be visually included in the catalog but just briefly mentioned and would be Lego exclusives like many Architechture and Ideas sets are right now.

Do you have any news for the part count? So far, StoneWars seems right with both the name and the price of the model. But I really can't imagine how they end up with 2000+ pieces in just a 4x4 trial truck, even if they go with high detailed cab with system pieces ... still 50 € more than the 42114... for just 1 motor more...

"How much pneumatic did you use?" --> "All of them..." Really cool technic, this thing is fully packed to the max! Is there a real world inspration you went for? I can only remember some white Lamborghini tractors from a card quartet game from early 90s. The use of the fender really is a thing lego should go for, when they are trying to do a Claas tractor :-)

Technic General Discussion
Jundis replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Something like that? :-) Although, it's still powered by non-lego motors, as it seems.... But he also used rather heavy system bricks for a high level of detail. With weight-optimized building, this surely is possible to make it airborne with a much smaller balloon. -
Very nice build. As strange as it seems: The beetle you've built has very crude line and the mish-mash of plates/curved plates seem very displaced... but somehow this perfectly captures the lines of the original :-) The technic underneeth seems nicely done, the only thing I am not sure about is the front chassis: Looks like you only used one 'layer' of liftarms and it shows in the flex of the front part. ;-)

Effe's MOC Corner
Jundis replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Depends on what you are planning I think: Longer wheelbase for a flatbed truck, shorter for a trial-truck. -
I think we should really doubt the given prices and part counts. No way the cat dozer could have 3854 pieces in it's current state. On the other hand: Mercedes really cared about their brand image for the 8110 and especially the 42043 and may insisted of a rather detailled cabin (looks + interior). With maybe an inline 4 or 6 engine inside the hood, we easily get 1500+ pieces. In contrast, the 42099 has like 12 orange panels + some liftarms for the whole cab... Sadly, I could not convince the youtuber to share the pics or have a glimpse at it, so I can say nothing for sure. What makes this rumor somehow believable are two points: The name 4x4 we get for this model in the first place and the rather poor construction in the version of the leaked 6x6 image (the cab is just a joke, fixed front axle).

I just searched for new info and got to a video from this guy, which seems to change many things we thought we know (and is not an april fools joke, hopefully)... Short summery of the video in chronological order: - this guy has 4 leaked photos from different angles (sadly can't show them) - leaked pic of the 6x6 is actually a really old version and does not represent the final model - It actually will be a 4x4, which makes now sense with the title of "Zetros 4x4" - green and black look, sticker-heavy - truck with a small bed, more unlikely to dump (so still a trial truck) - new hood design in contrast to old pics - tires are smaller than 42099 (so we can still expect 81.6) - same wheel hub as 42099 - hood may opens - new diffs, not sure if lockable - gearbox included - both axles are suspended (he says independent suspension, but maybe means live axle) - 4 motors: 3 L and 1 M. He guesses 2 L for driving, 1 L for steering and the 1 M for gear shifting - no winch, no tipping bed - around 2000 parts, price still unsure, 300+ € He says that this is not confirmed by Lego, but from two independent sources.

I'd love to have them hard-coupled and see the power of two motors. Just because Lego has not used two XL-Motors in that manner doesn't mean it has disadvantages or problems. It's completely normal that e-motors under load reduce their rpm, so I don't see why this would harm the motors in any way. Ideal setup for me would be 2 XL for driving, 1 L for steering and 1 L for gear selection (like the 42114). If they really pull off 3 gears + 1 gear with locked diffs, then this is a serious trial truck. If the stuck with just one speed and no gearbox, then this thing has less climbing ability or less speed than the 42114, which costs less, has more parts and more functionality.

It is really impressive that you pulled out 5 B-Models all seems fit for sale, while TLC couldn't even go with 1 B-model. Lego really should have gone with 1 crawler model with higher torque and 1 faster version (rear-wheeled-driven) with more speed.

Great to see the progress, I am really interested in the mechanics in the front and rear. As there is little space for a linear actuator, wormgears are the way to go I think. By the way: On B&P the 28 tooth bevel gear is 0,75€.
