Generic Contest Discussion
Jundis replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
With all these models for the car-transporter-gang (@Michael217 Put together this nice overview) ; maybe we can do a contest with: Build a B-model out of one of the these cars with only the available parts. -
Technic Pub
Jundis replied to jantjeuh's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Couldn't agree more! This forum is also somehow a comfort place, as I've never ever experienced more friendly and open folk. All the critic for MOCs is constructive and never a rant, which is a very rare find. -
It's really strange as one can argue that there are enough MOCs to keep Technic alive, but I feel you. The hobby always interested me the most when new models came out that gave spark with new parts, especially wheels, gears, mechanisms and motors to create something worthy and unique. Right now, even with all the new parts ,this spark sadly is gone for me. Still have hopes for 2027 with the 50th anniversary.

There is a 4th option, although more unlikely: Sets will appear out of nowhere. This happened with the 42100, which was released in october 2021 2019 :-) Apart from all the boring cars, there are 3 sets I'm curious about: 42238 Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory 457pcs 49.99€ - Could be cool and at least a little deviation from the norm of only speedy bikes and cars. 42239 The iconic Batmobile from the Christopher Nolan movies 719pcs 189.99€ - Here I'm interested how Lego will do the steering, considering the PU hub 113926 will be used 42242 Mercedes Benz Unimog U5023 With Crane - Only set I will buy directly on launch day, just to support non-car themes. What a wasted year for technic :-/ *Edit: @Ngoc Nguyen : 2019. not 2021!

[MOC] Mini JCB 4CX Backhoe
Jundis replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Cool new small parts :-) On the 1st pic, the critical look of the kid says: "Why aren't these cool parts used in Technic Lineup? Ah right... they don't need them, as they only get cars now." -
Dude, in all seriousness: This is not a copying of your design. They just found the same solution for a common problem. In your pic above you even changed the upper connector in your original design to an L-shape liftarm to make your claim... Just be happy you found the same solution :-) Also you seem to have copied it from Lego first (8069): *Edit: And from my MOC from 2021:

Yeah ok, but still if the amount of models each rises (2026 we have 25 models) and only 1 or 2 of them is really good, the ratio is still very bad. Considering years like 2016 there is no competition. So maybe in 2027 we finally will get our long awaited models: - Backhoe - Grader - Tractor/Trailor/Attachments - Harvester - Dump Truck *Please let a man dream...

Didn't want to open a new thread, so here we go with the question I have in mind: Will Lego Technic redeem itself in 2027? As the 2026 line-up of TSFKAT (The Series Formerly Known As Technic) completely goes for cars, my last hope is that the Designers saved model ideas for next years 50th anniversary. This could also be tied together with new electronics system introduced. Also one idea: Could it be, that designer just bowed down to management and then jokingly decided to do just cars and see how well they will selI? I know this is a billion-dollar company. But still I can't believe that all in the Technic designer team suddenly became Car-Guys....

Such a rock solid build without any unnecessaries. Great work, Jorge! Only thing I'm wondering: Are the track with of the front wheels really this wide?

Yesterday I saw the small John Deere harvester for 10€. At it seems right now, this will be my only purchose for this year. I just can't believe all these cars in 2026 will sell that well instead of the mixture of different sets we had in the recent years. My last silent hope is that the designers saved all the proper Technic models for next year's 50th anniversary...

These wheels are perfect and the dump bed already is greatly shaped here! Have you thought about implementing suspension? With the new small ball sockets (and even the older ones), it should be feasible in that scale :-) Now I am tempted to rebuild the 42100 and rebuild my Liebherr T264 from the profile pic with all the new elements available.... :D

Grohl's Creations
Jundis replied to grohl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wait, wait wait! Did you intentionally place enough white liftarms into the model so you can build the Dinos teeth and claws? That would be such a Growl thing to do! :D- 785 replies

Very strange indeed... My guess is on the latter one, looks like no one with technic sensability was involved here. Multiple strange solutions: - Steering wheel connection is way to wobbly (or was this intended?) - whole steering mechanism is a little over-simplified in such a huge model with very small steering angle (compared to the real thing) - Yellow axle on drive shaft has only a 1/2 stud connection to the 2 stud connector piece. Why not use the 5.5 stud axle with stop and spare the 1/2 bush? - Hand crank for engine start is only held by one connection, although there is a pinhole right behind. Only the yellow stoppers for steering had to be removed and placed elsewhere
