  1. Wait. You actually liftarms which are not black, LBG or DBG? Jokes aside, great progress so far, I really like this competition! :-)
  2. I remember this thing as I flipped through an Lego magazine in my dark ages. This thing really stood out. I hope you will manage to make use of the few available panels. Great progress so far, but maybe you could use another blade for the front like this or this:
  3. The lower part is nearly finished. Already tested it with different colours and awaiting the wheels and some red parts for the outriggers now :-) Steering through yellow axle, outriggers activated by blue gear. Can't wait to continue this weekend xD
  4. Hmm the wheelbase looks way to long for my taste... also, in contrast to the tow truck, this is a rendering not a pic of the real model... hmm. Also the first front with the panels for the grill looked better than this varriant with the thin iftarms.
  5. So clean and compact, great job! What I don't like is the 1x4 tile as a front fender... seems unnecessary to me..
  6. Exactly the same question popped into my mind. Maybe you can convince Jim to wait till the Zetros set comes out and you use the bigger tractor wheels on the back and the smaller wheels from the Jeep as front tires? :D
  7. Hmm same as mine. I will work that way as on the other side, models in city scale (width 5 or 7) are just not interesting to remake, if we stay in scale. :-)
  8. Hmm I think this rule is just to prevent from very large builts....? @Jim and @Milan : This really is problematic for non-technic studded builts of city/system models... does this really weight heavily on your voting?
  9. That was my initial idea also before I switched to a system model remake :-) But I would definetely try to use a pendular front axle instead of a fixed one. Also, they rear axle seems to be to wide...?
  10. Hi guys, many ideas came to my mind, but I ended up with a model from my childhood as I had way more System models back then. There was one I loved so dearly: I already had a layout in mind and it seems it fits perfectly. The scale will be determined by the small tractor tires and will be about 3:1 (8:3 to be exactly). Functions will be: - Steering of outer axles (operated from upper frame) - Extending outriggers (operated from upper frame) - Pushing down outriggers (each of it indipendently) - extending boom - lowering of the hook - lifting of the boom The model of course comes with the little blue tractor (steering and fake 2-cylinder engine) and the cargo container. It may even have the right scale for a technic figure... hmm :-) At least for now, the lower frame is a rather straight forward built. The outriggers work in my first test, but need way more stabilisation on the frame....
  11. What a beauty. I like your colour choice, even if most garbage trucks around my country are orange :D This really could be an official model, great job! As @Ngoc Nguyen said, the missing space between cab and trunk is one small detail that should be changed.
  12. Hmm given the number of sets to choose from (so ... nearly all from Lego except Technic from around 1998+ and some licenced models), I think it's rather a coincidence if two people choose the same AND use e.g. the same scale. The latter argument also applies for you second concern. I'd like to do a old System/City model, so I have to scale up. Should be able with a scale around 3:1, I start as soon as Jim starts the contest. *Edit: Exactly.
  13. Great work and impressive design with all the moduls, especially the engine! Brilliant :-)
  14. Ok, I first voted for only technic models but the more I think about, the more I like to do a remake of a city model which I loved to play with as a child :-)
  15. I really like the overall dimensions and use of the fender extensions from the 42125 :-) The cabin design is not to my liking... the yellow and black looks like a patchwork. Maybe better clean this up. Like upper part yellow, lower part black or something like that. Can you show the rear suspension in more detail? :-)
  16. Hmm I am not a big fan of this idea of modular car builds. From the complexity level and aspiration, surely this will be good. But for a competition with a (hopefully) broad range of participants, I think this is a way to complex task. There will be some high level entries, but I think it's hard for newbies (I count myself into this group) who never build a car frame bottom up. @Jim: Apart from the no-panel-rule, do you have other regulations in mind like scale?
  17. Not only the model, but also the speed in which you built is remarkable... What a B-Model!
  18. Yep. 6x6 will surely be one of the first to occur :-)
  19. Thanks for the update! According to your .io-pic, the front completely lost its signiture outer form, it just looks so bland now... Also: Is there really no angle on the front of the fenders? The interesting part really are the diff-locks, I hope it really is a fully functional gearbox+difflock
  20. Oh sry, didn't catch that... But at least now we have high res pics ... xD (*mumblesalittleapologie*)
  21. I like the first idea better. The second one will most likely result in very big builts and newcomers with fewer bricks will be a little discouraged of joining. But it's just my opinion. @Gray Gear : I think a stationary machinery contest AND a GBC contest will be kind of similar?
  22. Looks like we get panels 13, 14, 17 & 18 in dark green:
