  1. I built this system for testing.. It seems to fit barely after attaching the two M motors onto my current moc. I have one stud per side free room for a strong connection.. I accidentally just stumbled on this moc when trying to google lego tractor hitches.
  2. Hello! I need a tractor coupler that has two functions, the coupler arms go up and down, and there is an shaft in the middle for attachments. The problem is that the coupler + motors unit can only be 9 studs wide. I will be using 2 medium motors for this function. Can somebody help me with a compact and simple unit?
  3. Here is how it stands now: The steering works, it has lots of suspension travel and it's basically playable at this point. However, the whole engine mechanism thing is a disaster. I really don't like this moc anymore.. Should i put it out of it's misery or finish it?
  4. This is an awesome idea. However, i can't get a gearbox to fit in this particular moc.. When the engine spins, the wheels spin as well. I have finished the steering mechanism.. Not only it works, but it also has lots of steering travel and the front axle has lots of "suspension travel". I added an axle upwards for the "idler pulley/fly wheel" and piston mechanisms..
  5. Man, chinese have copied your moc.. https://www.gearbest.com/block-toys/pp_009725945403.html?wid=1433363 SO close.
  6. Found some real inspiration. Now i'm working on a steam tractor. Very compact.. Dual M motor drive. Bottom one is for steering and top one is for drive + fake engine. I might need some help with the steering though.. But for now it's on a clutch gear setup. If it's possible, a chain steering system would be 10/10.. But if i can't figure out a proper steering system, a regular link one is fine.. EDIT: The "cockpit" is ready. Now i just need to figure out a steering solution and then add the moving parts of the steam engine.. That's why that center shaft is long. It drives the wheels and the other moving stuff..
  7. Otherwise a good platform and it works.. However, i'm having a lot of trouble with the frame flexing near the big sprockets in the outer end.. How do you stiffen it so it doesn't bend down due to the tracks twisting it?
  8. There are some cool options available.. Be creative!
  9. Well.. Here is how the project stands now: Twin L motor chassis. But i wonder where i should go from this.. I still have a second receiver and plenty of motors to add functions.. But at this point, i'm thinking about gearing it down because it's pretty fast.. (popping wheelies.)
  10. Has anybody got an idea how to make a joystick for a tracked vehicle? (push forward and backward for throttle and twist the knob for turning)
  11. Damn, that's pretty accurate. I would use a technic Half Beam 3 with Knob and Pin as the gear pedal and brake pedal.
  12. speaking off third party parts... I was thinking about ordering one of those chinese knock-off lego servos because i can't afford a real lego servo right now.. But that little fine print at the bottom.. "Do not connect directly to battery box or it will catch on fire." Jesus.. What happens if you put a normal lego PF servo on a battery box directly?
  13. I would highly recommend getting the 42055 (Bucket wheel excavator) or 42082 (Rough terrain crane) as a first set. It will teach you about gear mechanics and give you a massive bucket-load of parts for future mocs. Getting into LDD (Lego Digital Designer) is also a big plus so you can test things in advance before ordering more parts.. Not to mention the possibility of getting a step by step instruction of what you build in it. Oh and a personal tip: Always sort your parts. Using parts storage drawers is a good way to have all parts organized and easy to grab when making a moc. It skips all the wasted time and hassle of trying to dig trough a pile of parts for that one connector piece...
  14. I know, that was my point. Great work on the scaling though!
  15. It bugs me that it's not the finished thing but only a chassis.. If it had the bodywork that's removeable, it'd be a complete set.
  16. I have a nice rough terrain in my backyard, waiting for a nice rough and tough moc to conquer.. I really want to make something with wheels like that heist truck from fast and furious.. I like trucks with long suspension travel.. But the problem is: I'd have to wait until i can afford to get a steering servo, those ball socket fork things and longer springs.. Benefit for going tracked would be that i already have all the parts needed.. But then again, you can't really climb rough terrain with tracks if you don't have an excavator arm to assist.. Oh well, at least in the mean time, i can have fun with my little tracked racer. EDIT: These are the two options i can go for next: Tracked snow plow truck; OR "mongo heist truck" <-- I don't know what to call this type of trucks Both are cool but i think the truck with wheels is more interesting..
  17. I can't handle the awesome of this thread. I loved that set too!
  18. Update! This puppy has been added to my collection. Now i have two controllers and two receivers.. Now i start to wonder.. Should i go for a crawler in my next moc or make a tracked truck..
