  1. Hi guys! I'll be getting my tax returns on august and was thinking about purchasing a 3d printer. I would mainly 3d print custom lego pieces that lego doesn't have to offer. (Or rare discontinued parts) Currently i'd like to custom print front and rear axles for my 4x4 lego truck. The problem with original lego pieces are massive bending and studs loosening to the weight of the model. I'd rather 3d print a custom axle and let that bend instead of harming real lego parts. (Currently i have my model on a stand to save any lego parts from bending.) So, what 3d printer should i go for? What filament is best for technic based creations? I want the 3d printer to be small and cheap but still a good enough buy to invest in. (2-300 euro range) (I can also buy and assemble a kit) Any tips and tricks would be great too!
  2. I actually like the way you put the motor in. It would be very simple to just add a hinge next to the motor and build a mechanical lever to raise or lower the suspension. You could also make it 4 wheel drive without too much modification. And you could still keep the battery where it is. .. Just maybe a stud or two higher.
  3. How long did it take you to get a collection of this size?
  4. Beautiful model. I wish it had adjustable suspension.
  5. I'd advice you to work on the rear wing. It looks like the parts are in heavy stress. EDIT: The windshield too.
  6. I have a 4x4 crawler that uses these half beams to hold the wheel hubs to the axle.. I guess i need to set an order for a bunch of these half beams if i tend to keep this moc for a longer time.
  7. It would be awesome if the dyno was more modular. So it could move a little bit forward and backward so it could fit different types of cars on it. The width can be modified by just having fat rollers.
  8. It does look magnificent but.. I kinda agree, it doesn't belong in this category. Sci-fi or scale modeling would fit.
  9. While i dislike the tumbler as an whole, this moc looks very pleasing. Great work on the bodywork!
  10. Oh man, that video sure was satisfying to watch.
  11. For me, they were built on the bucket wheel excavator as guard rail pieces. (decorative) So they were not under any stress at all. They were solid. I disassembled them and put them on storage, (drawer storage box thing) next to my computer. Temperature constantly at 20-22 celcius. They were not used at all because i was more focused on larger mocs.. Now i needed them for the first time after the BWE, and put them as wheel hub pieces, most of them were broken on their own. It's like there was a mould line seam or something that broke. They only break from one side i think. (The side with the injection moulding mark.)
  12. As a person who built it, it's a long massive project.. But it's worth it! One of the most fun technic builds i've ever worked on. Taking it apart for parts is a massive chore though.
  13. I wonder if lego could engineer a different profile to it to enhance durability.. Say.. The slot in the 0.5 bushing's side. I wonder if that slot could be used in a half beam to enhance the structural integrity.
  14. These parts: They always snap in the end. Does anybody else have this problem? I own 10 half beams in gray and 8 of them are snapped in the other end. The red part shown in image snaps in the thinner end. It's really frustrating when i'm trying to build a moc that uses these parts.. But the fun thing is, they're already snapped when i start installing them. It's like they snap on their own. I had some left from the bucketwheel excavator set that i disassembled. I left the parts in my shelf for +6 months.. When i tried the parts on an axle, i noticed that they were snapped. Then i proceeded to go trough all of the half beams i own and most of them are snapped while not being used. (The split line is visible on the end.)
  15. So it's adviced to gear it down properly if possible.. I think i'll use effermans lever solution to get the excess slack of the 90 degree turn.
  16. If the servo motor can't turn the whole 90 degrees, will it break if i force and hold it in say.. 45 degrees instead?
  17. This guy is a genious. WHY ISN'T LEGO HIRING HIM?!
  18. Take the light gray pin in front of it out so you can pull the piece off. Then just flip it by disassembling the control arm from the rear side.
  19. Here's an idea what you could build (After you buy a little more parts): A mechwarrior mech carrying vehicle. With an function to tilt the mech upwards.
  20. YES! THIS IS WHAT WE WANT! Imagine the mechwarrior figures we could make! Not to mention a lego based mechwarrior boargame with battle damage!
  21. The whole knights kingdom franchise was a massive flop right from the beginning.. But i guess it's the grandfather of CCBS..
  22. Instructions for the medusnail would be awesome.
  23. I have a bin full of those. Can't figure out how to use them. I'd love to see creative uses for this part so i could actually utilize them.. I originally bought a bunch of them because they were cheap.
  24. I prefer fully RC mocs.. However, it's a pain in the megablocks trying to get the motors and batteryboxes fit. Currently i'm struggling with my rear axle cause i can't get it to fit in the moc if it has to have a motor attached to it. So i have to combine the motor and the rear axle to make a one big unit.
