Unopened sets waiting to be built
grum64 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree completely about the urge to build. I build every day I can, usually at least 3-4 days a week (sometimes 7!) & for around 6-7 hours but still don't seem to make much impression on the pile of sets which just seems to keep growing. Personally I think it's witchcraft! -
Unopened sets waiting to be built

I've not got new unopened sets I've yet to build but have loads of used sets I've bought recently that I've yet to build: 8265 Front End Loader 8295 Tele-Handler 8462 Pneumatic Tow Truck 8262 Quad Bike 8274 Combine Harvester 8416 Forklift 9396 Helicopter 8448 Super Street Sensation 8109 Flatbed Truck 8053 Mobile Crane 8262 Cherry Picker 8068 Rescue Helicopter 8888 Air Claw Rig 8421 Crane 8366 Supersonic RC 8654 Scuderia Ferrari Team Truck 1:17 8652 Ferrari Enzo 1:17 8671 Ferrari F430 1:17 8156 Ferrari FXX 1:17 A few are sets I've built before but sold, and are unbuilt replacements. I can't resist a bargain but I buy FAR faster than I build! -
I'll be buying just one. Any more and it's depriving someone else of the chance to buy this awesome set at a relatively affordable price. Most, but by no means all, of those buying more than one set are doing so to sell on at an exorbitant price to line their own pockets. Whilst this isn't against anyone's rules, is it right? I'll leave others to decide that.

Favorite Lego Technic sets ?
grum64 replied to Legofan225's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As for my favourite, it has to be a dead heat I'm afraid. The 8258 holds a special place in my heart as it was the first set I ever built & so does the 8043 as it gave me the biggest sense of achievement due to its complexity. -
Hi DLuders Hope you're well. Thank you for your reply and the link. I bought a sheet of these a while back but as good as they were, decided against using them as the colour reproduction wasn't as good as I thought I'd be. Also, I didn't like the idea of them having to be cut out. The idea of asking the local company to have a go was to see if a solution could be found to the colour reproduction, cutting out and soaking in water. If the sample's colours are OK & they can get the size right the stickers once printed will be colour fast and made from vinyl so will not deteriorare over time. They'll be die cut so each can just be peeled off the backing and affixed. Obviously there's no gurantees but it'll be interesting to see if it can be done and if so at what cost. I'll let you know how things go. Thanks again for your reply.

Good Morning I hope all's well with you all. I asked a local vehicle graphics design company if they could reproduce the 8461 sticker sheet and they agreed to have a go. They've produced a sample for me to take a look at which should be with me in the next few days. I'll let you know how they are when I get them. During the initial set up they think they came across a problem with the dimentions of the scanned sheet in the files kindly provided by Blackbird and DLuders but not yet having seen the sample I'm not sure if it's correct or not. Does anyone know what the exact dimentions of an original 8461 sticker sheet so I can pass them on to the company for comparison. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Your Best Technic Bargains
grum64 replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Good Afternoon I posted this in a previous topic but as this topic asks 'the question' I thought it worth adding here. Rarely now do I buy sets from eBay as I find the prices ridiculously high most of the time. I buy the occasional part/s but that's about it. I now use classified ads in local papers, car boot sales etc., to buy my sets at much, much lower prices than eBay. In the last month or so I've bought: 8461 Williams F1 - boxed & complete - £38 8461 Williams F1 - boxed & complete - £25 8258 Crane Truck - boxed & complete - £55 8265 Front End Loader - boxed & complete - £30 8295 Tele-handler - boxed & complete - £25 5218 Pneumatic Pack, 8462 Pneumatic Tow Truck, 8244 Convertibles & 8456 Fibre Optic Multi Set - no boxes but all complete - £25 5218 Pneumatic Pack - boxed but incomplete - £3 8262 Quad Bike - boxed & complete - £5 8274 Combine Harvester & 8416 Forklift - both boxed & complete - £35 9396 Helicopter - boxed & complete - £34 8448 Super Street Sensation - no box but complete - £35 8109 Flatbed Truck boxed & complete - boxed & complete - £18 8053 Mobile Crane - boxed & complete - £26 8262 Cherry Picker - boxed & complete - £12 8674 Ferrari F1 - no box & complete - £35 (In an envelope inside the instructions was an original unused sheet of stickers) 8068 Rescue Helicopter - boxed & complete - £8 8888 Air Claw Rig - no box & complete - £16.45 8421 Crane - boxed & complete - £37.85 Everything that should work I've had tested and is in perfect condition. Amazingly bearing in mind the age of some of these sets and the well documented problems associated with Legos' whites, in all the sets with whites all but 12 pieces are perfect with no discolouration. As you can see I've had some absolute bargains & they've not been too hard to find. I guess I have more time than most but as you can see, other than building, I put that time to very good use. -

Hi Guys Does anyone have any info on this set? I can't find a review anywhere. All I know is it isn't considered a great set but is it really that bad? I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Old Technic sets losing value?
grum64 replied to mobi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
UPDATE Just bought an 8674 Ferrari F1 no box but with as new instructions and in an envelope inside, an original unused sheet of stickers for £35. My F1 trio is now complete. Also got an 8068 Rescue Helicopter (for Jake) for £8. Both advertised in local shop windows. 51 & counting! -
