  1. I've seen multiple explanations given but none make sense at this point anymore . I see things mentioned like : priced for discount (by that logic City sets in US should have like 50% discount ? since they are also discounted in Europe and cost less) (2022 : €20 Stuntz City set $35 in US) priced because it will sell anyway (so Movie Licenses are somehow selling better in Europe/Eurozone so they can price it higher?) Star Wars pricing has gotten a little better in Europe but JW is still priced higher in Euro, but there have been cases of $20 sets for €30 in both SW and Harry Potter) exchange rate / VAT (doesn't make any sense with given currencies and dollar/euro almost equal) (Before 2022, Prices between Germany and Netherlands prices could vary €5-20, far more then a few % , Blacksmith was €170 before this year in Netherlands / €150 in Germany, and then there's Finland which on Euro as well and still has higher prices) At this point people just name some weird "facts" out of thin air. That said, I've kinda given up trying to find explanation for pricing as it can vary so much per theme.
  2. Just noticed the Moon Boulder in the Rocket launch base is a different, darker color, that's a cool detail considering it's trying to be a recently fallen meteorite with the small crater flames still burning. Silver Metallic (Flat Silver) vs Titanium Metallic (Pearl Dark Gray)
  3. I hope it's viking winning too, just saying comment sections on social media aren't really indicative of actual final votes, 80 comment is also a very small amount , to what's probably 1000s of votes (2 more weeks to vote to go)
  4. On brickset mini-golf seems to have the major popularity, so I suppose it really depends what audience visits a site.
  5. I just looked at the 2011 Space launch center, and the 2022 version certainly can do a lot what that set could do, with the elevator, The 2019 set focused more on launch countdown/phone and rollercoaster track. 2015 set had the best Crawler build.
  6. Just compared the Monkie Kid Galactic Explorer to the City Space 2022 Launch Tower, and scale is quite good as the spaceship is about as tall as the tip of the SLS rocket. Also the little walkway/elevator comes up about near the main cockpit. The rocket fuel tank/booster could also be used as a sci-fi shuttle with the Dragon Horse Jet as a Monkie Kid space-shuttle variant since the Dragon Horse jet is similar size to the previous 3-in-1 minifig shuttles.
  7. City Launch Rocket Base finally had a decent discount , which is nice since it's mostly an exclusive set here. Just built it, and quite impressed, it has quite a size to it, and many large parts but it's far from an oversimplified build. The launch tower is supported by internal technic axles so very sturdy, and the rocket won't fall off either even when picking up the launch pad. Also the rocket can easily be used as shuttle tank/boosters for the previous 3-in-1 scale shuttles, still looks quite good due to the shaping of the dark orange parts. The observatory is quite good as well, pictures make it look smaller then it is since the rocket and launch tower are very tall for a regular City set. The launch control is a bit empty inside, and the back is open but you can place the launch control at the backside of the garage and the observatory can still spin freely and there are no big gaps. Value wise, I don't think this set should be judged on a price per piece , the volume of stuff is quite good and while a lot of parts could've been made out of smaller parts, it's still a 7+ set, but doesn't feel like a 5+ or 4+ in terms of builds. At full price it's a bit too much tho. I don't have the 2 rocket launch sets from 2019 so can't really compare to those.
  8. Very nice to see this potentially made, voted on it. Not so nice is if it remains region/continental exclusive to Target (hopefully at the very least at LEGO.com in Europe for example)
  9. Seeing how forestmen hats are mass produced in green again (4) in the succulent set, and era-appropriate to Falcons and Lion Knights 80s/early 90s, Something Forestmen seems likely. Black Knights would be nice to see as well as they did appear as early in the 1989 and are together with Falcons in the Sea Serpent set. Personally I think Wolfpack would fit better alongside a trio of Wolfpack-Dragon Knight-Royal Knight sets, 90s "soft reboot" instead of the original Crusader-Forestmen-Falcon-Black Knight era.
  10. In the long run, the value of the Euro currency also dropped from like $1,20 to almost $1 in a year and will likely have effect on future pricing on sets. I'm still on the fence about this wave, very little interest in the vehicles/mech/dragon myself, the 2 crystal king sets look the most unique to me but especially the temple need some discount for value.
  11. Same exact thing in Warcraft, females with lavender skin tones and hair colors like purple, green, white etc. Also a white moon crescent on purple background is prominently used as symbol, and their goddess of worship. In Warcraft 3 the males were all druids, in fact had to be awoken first to even fight, in World of Warcraft, the main warrior forces/sentinels are still majority female outside of the player classes. Warcraft might not be the "original" source of all this lore/design, but it certainly popularized it over the last 2 decade outside of Warhammer/D&D universes. Warcraft 3 released almost 20 year ago (July 2002), which had 2 of it's 4 campaigns mainly focused on the new continent and Night Elf lands, and Night Elf was one of the new playable factions.
  12. Nothing 100% confirmed, but all sets suddently have stopped using it (the last piece was in early 2021).
  13. Crystal King review certainly was nice, and the parts used in the set are great too. The pose, and proportions, remind me of a World of Warcraft Obsidian Destroyer, it even has some of the same egyptian vibes due to the golden accents. Overall, this and the temple will be the sets I'm most interested in, Crystal King minifig is in both, but the temple version has 2 pairs of arms, and the other can be put inside the big crystal king creature anyway, also has a very cool face under the mask.
  14. This, for sure, especially considering this GWP ends before June 1st big wave of new sets.
  15. City pricing went way overboard on USD this year, meanwhile 1 Euro is getting very close to 1 US Dollar now, currently $1.04, no way to explain €20 sets stuntz selling for $35. But in Europe at least, I think the €10-€30 price range has been my favorite in the longest time for City. Stepping it up to €40 you get a Crane, a Police Trailer and a UFO Truck, still fair. Then the €60 Fire and Police stations aren't bad at a smaller size, the Space Station as well. The Moon Base was my favorite €100. Overall value wise the Mission sets are my favorite, good amount of figures/accesoires, animals, printed pieces, and overall a great parts selection you won't see if it were just a simple SUV/Boat/NASA Spaceship set.
  16. Agreed, I had a friend with a lot of LEGO, and he rebuild most of it all the time, combined it with other toys like marbles to make brick-mazes with slopes etc, it was cool to see. We also combined our 9V rails to build bigger networks, the 9v crossing piece wasn't released until 1999 so we made an 8 shape with a bridge instead. (I also had older blue and grey rail but that wasn't as easy to transport/construct) Meanwhile in the same house, the parents were clearly collectors of things, model railroad (not lego), plastic models of 747's , glued jigsaw puzzles at the walls, Disney VHS tapes etc. I think a few models were on display, I had that too, but majority of parts, especially basic bricks were thrown in the big bins, or roughly sorted if it were Technic/Space related.
  17. Looks great, loved those arms when they were new parts. but due to age they lose their flexibility or crack easily, at least that's my experience.
  18. To me, Playmobil was the Display/Play Toy with cars that were cars, helicopters, boats, pirate ships , etc that were just those, no rebuilding, but it still had the play with the figures able to hold things. LEGO to me always was the building system toy. Other toy cars/planes/dolls etc were just a lot cheaper if you wanted a directly pre assembled toy like that, or glued model kits for detailed models you could paint/sticker yourself or small foam airplane with only a few parts like a propellor and then to throw them and they actually worked. If I wanted to display something 100% of the time I'd buy something else. However, if people want to build their sets once, and display them for 10, 20, 30, forever years, that's their choice and it's not wrong.
  19. I agree, LEGO does have Ultra Dragons with 4 heads but those aren't really Hydra-Like.
  20. 2022 City Stuntz challenge sets are €20 , and $35 in USA, that has beaten the 2018 $30 vs €50 2018 Hoth chamber in comparison in most outrageous price difference. . . . . What's next, 2028 Millennium Falcon $900 and €1575? , 2030 City Train €200 and $350 High prices is one thing , but one region getting royally extremely overtaxed for no reason, both directions makes no sense at all anymore when most sets differences are little to none on both very small and large sets. "License Tax", "Priced for discount" , sorry, that's simply not an excuse for a set being relatively 70%+ more expensive, and City isn't even licensed.
  21. I 100% agree that those 20 vs 30 and 30 vs 45 , both ways with Euro/USD or whatever currency are really weird, no matter what theme. In perspective, on larger sets that would mean something like Titanic would be 600 vs 400 (or 600 vs 900 depending), yeah if you look at it like that it gets even more ridiculous while it's basicly the same thing happening as with 20 and 30 dollar/euro sets out there. I'm not trying to find an excuse for City/License/whatever prices here, it just doesn't make sense with this inconsistency. Exchange rate, or VAT % doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, for many years there was a €5-10-20 Difference on sets between Netherlands and Germany, for some reason the Ideas Blacksmith was €170 in NL and €150 in Germany, until 2022 at least. I just looked at the US city prices , and those stuntz challenge sets €20 vs $35 USD / $45 CAD , completely out of hand pricing there, even worse then that €30 vs $45 USD/ $60CAD vegetable truck. Honestly would love to see reviews react to that because at this point it's undefendable as City isn't License, the "license tax", or "priced for discount" excuses simply wont work at such differences.
  22. Promobricks list them as August releases so likely pictures around July. Very interested to see what they'll do for a James Bond LEGO figure, very likely to have a somewhat generic yellow figure with dark hair in a suit (multiple bond actors have driven the DB5 in the movies), Craig doesn't have dark hair so maybe another extra hair piece as well (instead of a helmet?) Also I doubt they'll include a pistol, despite it being pretty much part of the logo and every movie in multiple ways like the intro and uses. Gadgets, maybe, but at a smaller scale it'd surprise me if it had ejection seat, but maybe some hint of rocket launchers or oil slick is somehow included (black water splat piece from City as oil ?)
  23. True, DOTS certainly stepped up their creative game after the 1st year, it went way beyond just decorating bracelets, boxes and pencil holders, with the letter tiles, creative boxes, or cupcake sets + easier to expand with bulk packs like lots of DOTS 2021 and 2022 variants, 2022 also increased the ratio of square tiles and 2x2 bow tiles for covering larger areas or large letters/numbers. LEGO also added a DOTS design tool to their website even has the models of some of the sets in 3d as a template. Go Brick Me was a very cool idea, yet somehow short life span of under a year, Bride and Groom are a nice variation, maybe a bit more specialized but still a cool start point for custom brickheadz.
  24. I liked the Just Imagine... and A New Toy Every Day slogans, but the visual message from the Rebuild the World maybe put it the best in recent times. The videos of interviews with kids building their own thing and explaining it is great, also I loved the kids episode LEGO Masters did in NL/Belgium. The new City Mission sets do have an app that's advertised but unlike Nexo Knight or Hidden Side or Vidiyo it mainly seems to be meant to actually build with the LEGO product instead of just scanning parts of it for a video game element, and beyond that also function like a sort of X-in-1 model somewhat more freely, which is a good thing. Nothing wrong with building once and displaying, but products like Classic, 3-in-1 and those Mission sets can certainly exist alongside the other sets to give a little extra nudge toward rebuilding/freebuilding.
