  1. A lot nicer then those older renders of the sets. But I think the front of the box just has too much artwork, (thinking about people who walk by it in a store)
  2. I agree , they are seperated themes on Brickset after all, and on those forums, Nexo was listed under Action and not historic which I think that was the right thing to do. They are seperate yes, but maybe it's just speculating too much about themes re-appearing/disappearing. I don't think Star Wars should discontinue at all even if I don't collect any of it.
  3. Not that I am hoping for delays, they can still happen. Looking at Fantastic Beasts 3, which recently got pushed back all the way to November 2021. While I hope that could give in-house Space some breathing room, that's just speculation at this point.
  4. Nobody specific, but read Aanchir's post, it's sometimes how I feel as well, when Nexo Knights and Castle are mentioned in the same subject. It's like the one theme I keep reading "I'm glad it ended" , while that's perfectly reasonable, on the other hand I keep reading "2013 Castle was terrible" as well... Still, Castle has had a lot more sets compared to Pirates, which only had 2 waves in 22 years. (I do not count licensed themes here)
  5. I don't mind actual comic books and would be interested in them for sure, for the more generic themes that don't have a TV show/game/movie etc. Pirates did it in 1989
  6. Chima, Nexo Knights and Ninjago had plenty of comics in the magazines that were/are published. And for 2018, with no Nexo Knight TV show, the year-3 story was only seen in those comics.
  7. Those oversized medieval inns and such don't really appeal to me compared to the more Set-sized builds and Castles. Size isn't everything.
  8. Best part is that the figures and locations also have "normal" versions for a City layout. And I like the fact that the Truck/Train/Bus/Boat vehicle sets are sold seperate from the Diner/Graveyard/School/Lab location sets.
  9. It's not about not knowing, but about finally being able to take action, after LEGO won the court case only as recent as November 2018 : "It is another significant legal victory in China for the LEGO Group in its battle against imitators over the past two years." https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news-room/2018/november/lepin-case LEGO only just recently opened their first Flagship store in Beijing: https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news-room/2019/february/beijing-flagship-store/ Clones won't go away, no, but LEGO has gotten a bigger status for sure. Lego is still regarded #2 most reputable companies in the world : https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news-room/2019/march/global-reptrak-100/
  10. No it does not, I have the Nexo Knights "Build Your Own Adventure" book and it just has instructions for the included brick model(s). The rest is just very inspired on the theme and color schemes but, but even those ideas can contain parts not found in any of the sets. It's an inspirational ideas book, not alternate builds. It does show how some parts are used in sub-builds (seperate picture splits up the build in seperate parts), but no full numbered instructions.
  11. While I don't collect or dislike the existence of brickheadz, I hope at some point the seasonal sets go back to minifig vignettes for a while, at least for 2020 And yes I know we had 2018 easter bunny and 2019 easter chicken skater pod minifigs, both were promos, compared to the now retired 2015 and 2017 vignettes which were directly sold.
  12. I like the "gimmick" of the theme, being a supplement to City , and the monster-people and transformation features being "optional". Speaking strictly about the sets and not the app. So even if you leave out the ghost-theme, you still see construction people, bikers, school teachers, restaurant workers in maybe a not-so clean and bright looking part of a City/Village. If the theme keeps focusing on locations we might not see as much in City like schools and restaurants being seen more often in Friends these days, I'm all for the theme to continue. Plenty of locations could be "haunted" in future sets, almost like a in-house Scooby-Doo. I would love to see a haunted barn/farm (new pumpkin piece), lighthouse, clock tower, dockside or cinema or something.
  13. It's really hard to describe the Coral color via a photo, it just changes so much depending on the type of light or intensity of sunlight. That said, I think it's one of the most vibrant non-transparent "neon" colors that have been made, and I don't see it as a pure pink, red or orange. I could easily see the color be used in other themes.
  14. Ever since 1999 LEGO has been doing a lot of movie based sets, Star Wars is going on 20 years non-stop, so seeing their own-made movies at some point wasn't a weird thing. It's the endless licensed vs in-house debate. Do I think licensed characters had a place in The LEGO Movie (2) ? No, but something like Batman is well-known and possibly draws more people to the Movie and Sets then they otherwise would have.
  15. I don't really see the point of complaining about colors in a theme like Friends, yes they are different in color/style, but otherwise it'd just be a copy City/Creator with minidolls and that's just boring. I can understand the absense of a Pirates theme and the desire for parts, but it's been away for much longer before. No "new" pirate sets were made from 1997 till 2009.
  16. So because I liked Nexo Knights, I am not a true Castle fan or something? I was in a Dark age from 2000-2016 and looking back, the Castle lineup doesn't look so bad to me. Of course LEGO style in many themes was somewhat different between around 1997 until the mid 2000s , some themes being completely non-existent between 2001-2003 (not counting Legend sets), but that was a dark period for LEGO themselves. Pirates have been scarce but I still don't see bad sets in both 2009 and 2015 offerings. Space might have had more sets then Pirates but imo has been the weakest one of the 3 "big in-house themes" between 2001-2013. This is just my personal view looking back at sets after a 15 year period of a break, where Nexo Knights had the right launch wave of sets to interest me back into LEGO and keep me there now, I just moved on toward mostly Creator 3-in-1 and some City.
  17. On a website like Rebrickable , where people freely can post their builds, it's nice to see instructions included as that's kind of the purpose of the website. But even then, I see it as a nice gesture and not as required. I don't really watch and build videos to get instructions from either. And when I see a regular MOC post instead of an alternate build, chances are high I don't have many of the parts anyway, and I don't go out of my way bricklinking parts to make someone else's models. For me I think LEGO is most satisfying when not following a straight plan outside of the actual set-building.
  18. In Classic Space and the 90s, almost each faction had some base, and while I can see most of them use a baseplate and large parts, nowadays some structures still use larger plates, burps and pillars and panels to cover size. Even with the removal of raised baseplates, I still see it possible to create some decent area with more modern 16x16, 8x16 plates and 10x10 corner plates and such. Brick-built rocks and walls still take a lot of parts if not using panels/burps, but I personally have no problem with open-backed designs, as long as there is a decent facade or corner display.
  19. I agree, if Friends sets were the same as City/Creator in design and color, why have another theme at all. If there's 1 place where sets color could be argued is the Classic theme, since some of them have so many colors you only get a few parts of each color.
  20. After City-Jungle I could certainly see some Desert Exploration subtheme (Egypt inspired) at some point. Maybe some throwbacks to Adventurers/Pharao's Quest too in design but without the huge monsters or mummy army (2019 already has desert snake enemies anyway for Ninjago) We even got a dune buggy/scorpion in City this year. This part is seen again in the Hidden Side theme so the mould is still being there to be used.
  21. 4 sets have astronauts with golden visors, mostly depicted as the ones that do spacewalks (heavier backpacks) I think having some variation with the trans light blue visors being for like Mars Surface exploration or on-board vehicles is fine. There's 1 figure with orange visor in the People Pack, sort of depicted like a statue/memorial, of course he could function as a regular figure too.
  22. I think it'll be 1 wave like the previous City subthemes. Space (2011-2015-2019) , Arctic (2014-2018) and Coast Guard (2008-2013-2017) have been returning every few years with 1 wave per half-year. While not all half-years have a subtheme, 2018 had Mining and Arctic , however 2019 got new Fire sets instead. For Winter 2020, we might get a refresh on the standard City Police (following the pattern of 2005-2008-2011-2014-2017-2020?) and another Subtheme. Fire and Police main themes seem to be on 3 year cycles, but Police has it's specialized subthemes inbetween (Swamp, Mountain, Prison Island, Sky etc) As for predictions for the 2020 subtheme, it could be Airport (last seen in 2016), possibly to compliment the Sky Police theme still on shelves, or something entirely different that we might or might not have seen. Personally I hope for a return of the Farm subtheme, with a Farm people pack with some animals in it. Harvester Transport should still be on shelves for 2020 as well. Also the question remains if the Space People pack is a 1 time thing or going to be more used for City "jobs" subthemes. Beside the usual "fun in the xxx" pack.
  23. Agreed. Classic Space did have some design like a Lunar Flying Unit/Rocket Chair or Moon Buggy, and there have been many Moon Buggy sets all over Town & City Space. . I mostly meant the more "fantasy" classic space designs that don't really fit in a City theme, they still fit perfectly fine in a regular Space theme. Something like this evolved into the most recent mini-shuttle and that's fine how they designed it for a bit more realism under City
  24. I came across this awesome alternate build for set 70351 a while ago : Credits to go the original owner of the video - grohl666
