Questions regarding to trademarks of Lego sub-themes
TeriXeri replied to yorkc1215's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do see some themes have an extra Trademark, like Ninjago, Nexo Knights and Friends show a TM in their logos, but those themes also had a TV show. Even goes further for themes like The LEGO Movie 1/2 or Ninjago Movie, which have more parties involved. Found a link with some official info: https://www.lego.com/en-us/legal/legal-notice/fair-play On my country's LEGO Store website some logos might not show ® or ™ in the logos, however it still names them in the themes list : Example : Technic™ , DUPLO® It's kind of inconsistent, like it doesn't show a trademark for "DC Super Heroes", however on the product names it certainly protects individual heroes : Superman™ Batman™ Cyborg™ However when it comes to Spider-Man, or Iron Man, nothing is shown in text, but it's still part of Marvel of course. As for Power Miners and older in-house themes, I have no idea how those are handled, but I expect them to not be much different from the Technic or Duplo policy which have been around for a long long time. -
Fake Lego toymaker taken down in China
TeriXeri replied to doug72's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Lawsuit was solved around that time (November 6 press release), so maybe they had no grounds to take action before that. February 2019 we got the announcement that LEGO is opening 80 new Brand Stores in China so a big shift toward pro-LEGO. -
Interesting, seems like a modern take on the old Scala theme as I expected. I know when I was a kid there we must have had 2 of those, going by the parts mixed in our family's LEGO.

Fake Lego toymaker taken down in China

I saw this also posted on a local news website and many people actually were defending said company and blaming LEGO for being overpriced, was a shame to read. Comments of quality, safety (chemicals), copyright, were blatantly ignored due to price. -
I'd love to see a reimagined Forestmen set using the new Deer mould (colors could be Dark Tan with Dark Brown antlers). 2017 had a 1x1 printed tile with the heraldry so it's not like LEGO has forgotten about them. I still stand by my Royal Knights vote being my favorite heraldry, I just love that it uses the 5 more "classic" LEGO colors (red/blue/yellow/black/white)

I like how people packs are using a great variation of hairstyles and face expressions, and sometimes new recolors. My favorite from the Fairground pack is the Blonde Ponytail on White Cap. ---- On another sub-topic: I do hope LEGO noticed some hairstyles seem to have less friction for some reason and will take that into account in future designs. Personally from my own collection I noticed it with Rex Dangervest Hairpiece - Bricklink 40938 , and the Long Ponytail Hairpiece - Bricklink 62696 I only have a small sample size however.

Hidden Side pretty much came out of nowhere, so some themes are still kept under wraps fairly well until the right time. Wouldn't surprise me if more info comes during Summer around the typical August wave of sets. (and before the Winter 2020 rumors) Right now the May/June wave is pretty saturated across a lot of themes.

It really does look like wood at first glance on the photos Nice recreation of the real one.

The Sword of the Seas has arrived to LEGO Ideas dockss
TeriXeri replied to paokus's topic in LEGO Pirates
They had a retractable plank in the 2018 Creator 3-in-1 tree house, maybe not an actual ship but it still was a feature on a pirate ship shaped tree house -
Also there are 2 white parrots in the new Creator Townhouse set. Bird, Parrot Second Version with Large BeakItem No: 27063 This new variant was only introduced recently in 2018, so far only made in white, and only in 1 set so far : 4+ Incredibles 10760 Underminer Bank Heist Update: seen better pictures of the set and they are certainly the large beak parrot.

I hope we get a normal colored deer or reindeer, after the Patronus set shown the new mold. Would be awesome to see it in a christmas set , but even better, Forestmen.

If something like the Bricklink AFOL program was handled more internationally (like sets also shipping from within EU), it'd probably get more interest.

It's certainly larger yes, I was just looking at the Boat Hull Brick 16 x 10 x 3 part to compare. It's been 4 years since it's used and now a new color.

That's a big ship, certainly seems very inspired by the 2013 Dolphin Cruiser. If that's the Coral Color it's going to look very bright in real life for sure.

Late summer, so likely August.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The 2017/2018 line of "modular" 3-in-1's were 8x16, and 8x8 for half-size or exterior plates. This Townhouse is at the 8x12 scale for the structures on a 12x12 base, Main build being 24x24 with sidewalks. Bank being 12 wide as well, makes sense since the main plates used in the set are 6x12. Of course it looks like you can still re-arrange the main Townhouse to be side-by-side 24 wide, or 36 adding the corner sidewalk as well. So that'd be 12x36 at ground level, with a ~8x24 structure. The 2 buildings at the Donut Shop opening , and the Hidden Side Diner (main structure) are built on 8x16 base. -
I know we are many months later from this post, so far they appeared pretty randomly in some sets, orange is still dominating 2019 however

I do notice the trend of huge sets on IDEAS or MOCS tend to be popular on community forums and web pages, and small tiny things outside of actual sets get less attention. It's like people constantly having critic on Creator 3-in-1 being too simple, when they compare it to their 2500+ part Creator Expert Modulars. Personally I get my joy out of creating Digital content for a certain game franchise (Trials) and LEGO is my physical outlet.

LEGO Creator 2019 - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Good view on the alternate builds and mechanisms on the back of the boxes. Helicopter indeed has a button on the back to spin both rotors. Overall doesn't look like there's like a really small and bad alternate build in any of those sets. Hovercraft might be my least favorite alternate build but hard to judge from the pictures. Townhouse Bank is an interesting idea for a Creator set but certainly doesn't use all parts either, I still think the set has a great base to build custom builds from as well in terms of bricks, plates and tiles. Overall, City and Creator 3-in-1 seem to move closer in style/scale in terms of buildings.- 280 replies

Just like 2018, sprinkles of Pirates make it into themes here and there 2018 mostly Creator 3-in-1 and 60-year anniversary sets. For 2019 it's been Xtra and Friends so far. Friends also had some pirate parts (hat & "pistol") in 41359: Heart Box Friendship Pack released earlier this year.

What happened with Functions/Play Features?
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I liked that a theme like Nexo Knights had quite a few system-based technic built in, but I have no interest in the actual Technic sets using panels instead. Possibly has to do with my dark age from 2000-2016, so I never got into newer Technic, outside of the 1999/2000 Slizers. But even System is moving toward their own parts where possible, for turntables there's the new rounded gears with studs on them, which I don't consider Technic really. -
Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Yes definately a new helmet. Not sure if that chest/shoulder armor is new as well. Overall they made a lot of helmet/shoulder armors over the recent years. It seems to combine a Skeleton torso with Squire Bot legs. -

The 4+ Garage feels like a throwback to set 6548 from 1997, not my type of set but must be great for the target audience Fire Chief Truck fits right with the style of the 2019 Fire Station car, and nice Fire Chief figure for sure. Donut Shop certainly is interesting as well. -

People pack is pretty cool. Ice Cream bike is nice, and we're also getting that same bike as a Coffee bike in the Donut Shop opening set. Good use of colors overall in the set, and nice accesoires and figures that are useful outside the Fairground theme. Trans-Blue Balloon Animal, Trans-Blue Ice Lolly , Purple Teddy Bear seem to be unique recolors in this set so far.
