The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Surprised to see more sets after all. However to me, it's a bit "more of the same" feel, instead of like another Classic Space set. That said, that doesn't mean the sets themselves are bad, just very low below some Hidden Side/City/Creator sets on my priority. -
Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Looks pretty similar to last year's but I don't see as many "Microscale" builds this time around, 2 more figures also. -

I liked the look of the green Porsche, but didn't care for the rest of the set, so never bought it, a single car set however is more appealing to me, just the way it's sold. I'd also be way more interested in the Classic Mini if it were it's own set.- 428 replies

Is a new voting procedure necessary for Lego Ideas?
TeriXeri replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The thing with expired projects over 5000, is that they also have been up there for the longest (26 months) so unless LEGO suddenly runs out of popular ideas at 10000 (let's say less then 4 for a review round), I don't see the need to rehash old expired Ideas unless the site dries up. Right now there are 25 Ideas between 5000 and 9999 so not really lost in any clutter either. One current project made it to over 5000 within 2 weeks even. A couple years ago, LEGO themselves even asked for more Non-Licensed submissions at the time, so if the time calls for more submissions, LEGO will do it. -

So basicly it becomes TLG's pick then, with another extra slap in the face where projects of completely different genres compete directly against eachother. Sometimes 1, sometimes more sets can make it into a set in the current system, putting sets directly head to head where only 1 can be Winner is a bad move. Then what would be a solution ? TLG asking themed submissions (City/Castle/Space/Licensed etc.)? Category-based picks (Licensed seperate from Non-Licensed for example). If that leads for more exposure/submissions, great. I know LEGO IDEAS has those themed competitions fairly frequently but those are seperate from becoming sets. If LEGO just picks a handful of sets with no filters it's not good ,on top of that, even less people will submit things if the pre-selection seems too hard/biased. ---------- Current system works a lot better as the public gets the first say, and then TLG later, not the other way around. Also if an IDEA currently doesn't make it to 10.000, then it has had it's clear reasons, especially if it's up there for 2 year, people had plenty of time to vote if it were popular, as I've seen projects go from 0 to 10000 under 2 months. The extending time system works great, some unpopular expire at 60 days, then if you reach 100, they have a full year to reach 1000, then 6 months to get 5000, and another 6 months to reach 10.000. -

It works fine as it does now. It's not like it cost anything to vote, and even the submission will get a compensation if their 10.000 project doesn't make it into a set. Honestly, sometimes I wonder how well known the Ideas website even is. Projects have over 2 years and 2 months to reach 10.000 and last round only had as few as 5. Now I know from myself I only vote on very specific sets with a high probability to actually buy , and maybe there must be many other people like that. -
It's likely just a lazy Copy Paste from the 10000 votes Shuttle Atlantis Project : https://ideas.lego.com/projects/f072bc4c-47a3-417e-98cb-5750fdac516d/official_comments#content_nav_tabs Same (Space Shuttle Atlatntis) text is used on the Gravity Falls project.

LEGO Creator 2019 - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ok LEGO fixed their site, new Creator 3-in-1 can be found under 3-in-1 again I wonder how many 3-in-1 sets are going to get reviewed soon. Browsed through the instructions of the Townhouse/Petshop, and it has some interesting parts, and the alt-builds could almost be their own sets, one of the first sets I could get multiples off on big discount, as I like the Bank and Dentist/Hair Salon. Still they are open-backed, and not hinged, might not be liked by some. Right now the only set I really that seems more expensive at retail price is the Outback Cabin, looks small for €35, almost 100 parts less then the Houseboat of same price, still the color scheme and parts could combine with older cabin sets. 2nd build (Birdwatcher hut with a hidden bed/campfire underneath) gives me a bit of a Minecraft vibe, 3rd build (barge/boat), you might as well get the Houseboat set instead.- 280 replies

We didn't have that many very early Castle sets, but I remember playing with figures from Knight's Procession. Later I got the Viking Voyager, great Crusaders figure pack, even tho it was a boat. A friend had the Wolfpack keep and Forestmen sets. Wasn't until years later I got more Castle sets, with the Dragon Wagon, Wizard cart and Royal King/Drawbridge/Skeleton Surprise. And at the end, 2 Fright Knight sets (a tiny boxed flying machine and Dragon with neon orange wings) That said, I often built bigger castles with parts from Pirate sets as they had wall/rock panels as well, and the raised baseplate from Enchanted Island. Rest of my Castle sets didn't come till Nexo Knights, which could be many factions by imagination. If you for example exchanged heads, you could have a Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, White, Black Knight faction on it's own, each with their own modern armor/crest. Maybe not very "Classic", but it's an option.

Lego Pirate Comic: The Unpublished Sequel to The Golden Medallion
TeriXeri replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Pirates
Indeed, and full Yellow legs have been almost never been seen outside of Classic Space Only 1 set in 1998 that came with the LEGO Loco game had a yellow "superhero" suit train guy with yellow legs. (set 2585) So basicly the recent Benny's Space Squad is the first set with yellow legs in more then 20 years. -
Minecraft 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
True, it's LEGO, and sets based on updates don't need to be 100% replica's of the base-generated game as some sets have player-made additions like the Pirate ship sail. I didn't consider the large playerbase on servers, so a purple or green villager could still make sense. (simpler to make with existing mold and more recognizable). Nitwits are still green, and Clerics still use a purple robe anyway. The 2016 village set is already so long ago, and that set should probably have had at least 2 more villagers to begin with, maybe they'll do another village set someday, with the newer buildings but just same style of villagers. -
Minecraft 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wonder if they'll still make "old" villagers since 1.14 (Java/PC) basicly added so many villager skins per biome it's crazy. -
Quite a year for Space sets, Ideas, Creator - Lunar Lander, City and previously TLM2. By the time this comes out, they can put some "20th year anniversary of the ISS" on it I bet (permanently manned since November 2000)

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
A large train can easily reach that price point if it included some electronics. The 2018 City Cargo Train is €190 for 1226 parts. 2018 Vestas Windmill was €200 for 826 parts.- 961 replies

[REVIEW] 70671 - Lloyd's Journey
TeriXeri replied to makoy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Blizzard Warrior is my fav part of the set. Already had the impression of it looking like an "undead" even before reading this. Nexo Knights stone monsters also had some more "damaged" alternate faces with holes or missing eyes, so seeing ice shards on the alternate face isn't that strange to me. -
I only had 1 Islanders set and that was the big one, still have it on display with my old LEGO in a different location from my year 2015-2019 parts, after I rebuilt old sets after coming out a dark age. Not 100% complete due to kids play or broken parts over the years, however it's still very recognizable, and the figures/accesoires are fine. One of the best location sets for it's time, 2 baseplates(1 raised), bridge, lots of plants, 2 boats with sails, a croc/parrot/monkey, and lots of good figures (Kahuka, Female Islander, 3 regular Islanders, Captain Ironhook + regular pirate)+ accesoires. We didn't have that many pirate sets in the family, 2 sabre islands set 6265, with 16x16 island baseplate so 2 cannons/small boats and 6 soldiers, and some other smaller sets from early 90s with sharks and regular pirates, so getting a 2 full baseplate set was a big thing as a kid.

I'm thinking that as well : Winter 2019/2020 has Disney Frozen 2 (November 2019) and Trolls/Onward releasing in the same month (march 2020) , Minions movie is planned for Summer 2020 (late June/July) So that's winter/spring/summer covered pretty much.
-
Don't hurt the poor Squirebots , especially Cyberbyter Dennis Anyway, as for Minions or Trolls, I need to see the sets first before judgement, no plan to see the movies however.
-
Tbh, I rather see some sets based on the new Disney "Onward" especially the Garden Gnomes, as they are definately based off Rien Poorvliet "Gnomes" book and "David de Kabouter" year 1 cartoon. Dutch mythology (gnomes, kabouters, elves, dwarves) actually has some nice historic folklore. Minions doesn't interest me much.

Out of those, Farm (2009/2010) and actual Cargo Harbour (2007) hasn't been seen recently. Coast guard has been seen in frequent intervals (2008 , 2013, 2017, so probably will show up around 2021) 2019 does have the Farm Harvester transport and Diving Yacht (and the City magazine so far had a Mini-Tractor/Lawnmower and Diver+Crab+Seaweed this year) hopefully that means something in regard to 2020, which would mean 10 years since Farm, and 5 years since Deep Sea. Personally I'd love a Farm subtheme + people pack.

[MOC] Food Stand Diners (One for the Rollercoaster fans)
TeriXeri replied to Frostbricks's topic in LEGO Town
I dunno how LEGO handles it after the review phase, I just posted guidelines I read, that's it. Was more meant as information, nothing else. It's possible that there's a certain time frame where the idea expires the "rights". It's because I also saw some Chemical plant instructions for sale on ebay, and likely not from the original creator, it's a bit of a shady side of people to profit from other's work.- 45 replies

Looks like an interesting theme to get some interestingly colored characters and fantasy elements. Mushroom house could be a fun set. LEGO Garden Gnomes could be amazing, especially because like over 30 years ago a family member won a local LEGO building contest with a 2-D brick-built garden gnome in the same color scheme (red hat, blue vest, black boots, yellow skin), like "David the Gnome" Especially because such gnomes are known from a widely sold book by a dutch writer and illustrator I know I had toys, and there were cartoons based off them, and they even had icecream shaped to it , so its nostalgia for me. It's one of the Dutch Folklores : The Kabouter was the Dutch name for the kobold (gnome), a household spirit and earth spirit who usually lived underground. Kabouter - (Dutch for gnome) short, strong workers. They build the first carillons (groups of bells) of the Netherlands - from The Kabouters and the Bells[12] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythology_in_the_Low_Countries#Other_beings The Dutch illustrator Rien Poortvliet played an important part in modern Kabouter lore with his publication of Leven en werken van de Kabouter (English title "Life and works of the Gnome"), later translated into English and published as "Gnomes".[5] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnomes_(book)

I remember seeing a recent Bricktsar video where he left old transparent parts in the sun for much longer then intended, many of them turned milky white. First 2.5 minutes of the video.

Great looking Classic Space models. For my modern LEGO I just have Benny's Space Squad, never got the 2014 ship as I was in a dark age. But as a kid we had some Classic Space sets, including the big 928, which is rebuilt not too long ago + crater/landing baseplates, but I keep my old LEGO seperate from the 2015+ I can add to that, Year 1 Nexo Knights also had some more interesting light grey and blue parts, if they can still be found, but most of them are more modern parts, but still have a very angled designs.

This set was really nice looking, and the Octan color scheme was great. Selling instructions, custom kits or anything, isn't allowed, by the IDEAS guidelines, but free sharing is. https://ideas.lego.com/guidelines Now, Crowdfunding might be different, I dunno. I don't want to sound negative here, as it's a great unique set.
