  1. Pricing so far seems fair, only the Train set is outside of the normal price range. https://brickset.com/article/43695 Prices for the Lab and Diner are estimates, the others I got from the article. Lab - $19.99, €19.99 Boat - £24.99, $29.99, €29.99 Graveyard - £24.99, $29.99, €29.99 Truck - £34.99, $39.99, €39.99 Diner - $49.99, €49.99 Bus - £54.99, $59.99, €59.99 Train - £69.99, $89.99, €79.99 School - £109.99, $129.99, €119.99
  2. Some colors of printing are certainly bad in modern times, especially since the box-art seems to use more renders and bright colors it's even more obvious. And the issue is certainly not just as simple as printing light colors on a dark background, as LEGO has had good examples of figures where it turned out just fine like Moltor or the Black Scurrier from Nexo Knights. As recent as the 2018 Arctic theme, the yellow printing on a dark blue torso just turned out closer to an "olive" color and not bright light orange as it shows on the renders, and the white arctic logo printing on an orange tile turned out a bit of see-through. The recent Mercy and Captain America head prints turned out really bad, when the color is nowhere near the flesh color, but ended up more white/grey.
  3. I agree there's been some subthemes and repeated types of sets. Minifig scale : - Modular Buildings (ongoing in 2019) - Vestas Windmill ( 2008/2018) Imperial Flagship (2010) / Shuttle Expedition (2010/2011) - Amusement Park sets (2018 Rollercoaster being the most recent) - Winter Village + Holiday Trains/Station (ongoing in 2019) - Trains (Emerald Night / Horizon Express / Maersk Train) (not seen recently since 2013) And then non-minifig sets: - Large Scale cars (ongoing in 2019) - Landmarks (Taj Mahal , Tower Bridge, Big Ben etc) (last one seen in 2017) - Model Ships / Airplanes / Mini-Modulars (not seen recently since 2014)
  4. I couldn't find any mention of the part being used on Brickset, beside the white one in a 2018 Incredibles set. (and soon 2 more white ones in a 2019 Creator 3-in-1 set) The small beak parrot was still produced up to 2016, Brickset misses 4 sets that use the grey small beak parrot in 2014, and 2016. The solid color large beak parrot was added in 2016 according to BrickLink , Part 27063 , so there was overlap in production unlike what Brickset says. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=27063&in=S= The Brick Bank set has 1 listed as alternate in Dark Bluish Gray. I think it varies per set on what parrot was included, old or newer mold, maybe later sets in production use the newer mold. Alternate Items - Parts from the Regular Items section that differ from one production run of a set to another. These are typically mold variations of parts.
  5. Found the magazine in store , with the baby "blue" raptor.
  6. I wouldn't have noticed the difference on the bicycles. But it seems out of 5 red bikes I have, 4 from Xtra, 1 from fun-in-the-park (2016), I have 3 of the newer variant. So I might have gotten 1 old and 1 newer in the same Xtra polybag. I also remember getting 2 older, thinner 1x1 plate with clip in my Fortrex set.
  7. Amazing set, hopefully it'll be sold at a LEGOLAND Discovery centre as well, finally one opening in my country in 2020
  8. Neither sets have any Classic Space Logo figures at all, it's the white/orange space logo from 2019.
  9. So, there also appears to be a 4 minifig pack for the City Space theme. Green Geode looks to be the exclusive piece here, overall, nice figures, build and tools as well.
  10. 2015 Friends had a Lighthouse set as well (with a classic Pirate's rowboat in pink )
  11. Starry Night - Vincent van Gogh (1889)
  12. I had a slightly warped 16x16 plate in a recent boxed set, and hot water at least seemed to fix it back to a more flat shape before putting it together. As far as bad clutch power goes, the figures I used on the year 2000 Soccer field set don't clutch on studs anymore, but I think that's because those stands they use might be slightly bigger then a regular stud to firmly keep the figures in place when using those springs to shoot the ball. However I haven't tried hot water on those old figures yet. Talking about this part in the soccer set
  13. Problem with some of those huge sets is that they tend to be limited to a few retailers so harder to get 40-50% discounts on (online at least). And I know I have a website to track the lowest ever prices for many webshops but the lowest ever listed doesn't always actually mean it was correctly listed/sold at that price. Not all countries or areas have those big stores with lots of room for LEGO, we certainly don't have walmarts and target type stores around here and I am not in some rural area.
  14. First time a set uses regular horses since 2015 (Scooby Doo Mystery Plane Adventures)
  15. So does LEGO have to make Fortnite or League of Legends sets instead then? Currently those 2 are by far the most popular streamed games on Twitch. https://www.twitchmetrics.net/games/viewership I know watching streams is different then playing, but it's a quick way to see viewer interest. Overwatch is still at #7 as well. 2019 Minecraft has very few actual sets, just 2 + a Polybag, the other 3 are big figures.
  16. Minecraft also just recently got another huge update 2 weeks ago. Also it's the type of game you can play in 10 different ways with or without mods, old versions are still available to select, online functionality, mobile/console and 2 versions for PC, so it's a wide audience.
  17. I was surprised to see trans-orange color scheme for the Endgame quinjet, but that's been an exception to most Licensed ships. But design wise, I like something more basic like the Captain Marvel Quinjet, the studs and angles make it look more like LEGO to me, at 1/3 the price. I do like the shape of the Spider-Man Far From Home jet as well. That said, I have no desire for any of those licenses/figures so other sets are on a much higher priority.
  18. Bright Transparent color schemes made the old space themes really unique before Star Wars even appeared. And I think some of the "Space" feel of Nexo Knights could be attributed to the bright Trans Neon Orange, even the last wave with the Trans-Bright green had some space feel, year 2 monsters not so much. LEGO has shown they can make modernized style Space vehicles like Benny's, Systar Starship, the Rex vehicles and the Party Bus that combine contrast with a nice use of a transparent color. And they really stand out compared to the more dulled colors from Star Wars in most cases. In Star Wars the transparent colors are often seen in the blasters/lasers and it doesn't usually have the bright cockpit windows. Kind of like Town used just Trans-Clear and Trans-Light Blue for the majority of sets, Star Wars mostly uses Trans-Clear and Trans-Black. Even on non-Space theme, a different color layout can mean a different appeal. Agents 2008 and Ultra Agents 2014 both had big mobile Truck based headquarters , both similar, yet very different due to the colors.
  19. Star Wars is really a lot about named characters, named ships/ship types, known planets, aliens, or just masses of "troops" I think a more generic Space theme could work but might not get enough "hype" around it. Pre Star Wars Space didn't really have names, or real combat factions like Star Wars. Of course there were more sinister factions like Blacktron 1/2, Spyrius and UFO but that was long before the stud shooters or flick fire missiles etc. also some minifig tools like the megaphone or cameras could be seen as cannons or laser blasters, but again, choice for it to be a scanner, camera or tool. Most older themes had Bases for Launching/Research/Processing or Monorails, Space Police vs Spies and Thiefs. Vehicles often had modules that could be taken off or re-arranged. Insectoids was about gathering those magnetic crystals, and while it was said to be on a planet full of insects, they were just there in imagination, you could either consider the vehicles as insects, or as insect-disguised. At the very least Space Police or Space Rescue seem logical to some point, seeing how often Fire and Police sets are made. I know Space Police has been done 3 times, but I personally would love a more retro comeback if they did it, like 1 and 2, with the rough angles.
  20. That's good news to see it still produced I got huge nostalgia to similar coins from the old Pirate days (the old ones that were 10-20-30-40) Hope they'll eventually show up in Xtra, or a small set. 1-2-5-10 is more useful considering some sets actually have shop billboards with prices of items/food. (Donut Shop Opening being an example, stickers show 1,- for Croissant, 7,- for propellor hat) , many more such stickers in the Xtra Sticker pack.
  21. Frozen 2 Movie is releasing 22 November 2019.
  22. Looks like a Classic Space grille Slope 45 2 x 2 with Black Grille Pattern https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3039p05#T=S&O={"iconly":0} First seen in blue (1984) And white (1986) Not sure why they brought that specific print back, because R2-D2 only has 6 vents, and not 7 , unless the Classic Space speculation can begin I know the piece has been used in non city sets like the Santa Fe train in 2002, but one can hope right. But then again, it's LEGO and the number of vents has varied on the "minifig" scale R2-D2. between 3, 5 and 6. Just fun browsing around some Bricklink for clues.
  23. Looks like a lot of potential to get all sorts of colored heads and hair pieces.
  24. While the artwork is special, it doesn't really appear like "LEGO set" if it's on a shelf with that side on front. Just thinking of random people here who walk by it in a shop, not people who do their research on sets. Not a complaint, just observation
