Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Of course that is possible, but I don't expect no-canopy flyers in a City-Space theme The first wave Classic Space wave definately was fairly "simple", just exploration, gathering, bases and vehicles. I even see that in the 2019 sets But when you do bring in factions, space police, aliens, and weird designs I still think placing the theme outside of the City line of sets is better. -
I know there were 3 big castles, a library, small stone tower (Lance vs Lightning set) "living tower" on wheels (in Knighton Castle set), and a small Tree outpost (Aaron's Stone Destroyer set), I have all those sets I do have the "build your own adventure" Nexo Knight book as well and it does show some custom locations inspired by the Knights and Stone Monsters. That said, the theme ended, I really enjoyed it, even the vehicles, it was a unique theme neither pure Castle, or Sci-Fi but a bit of both and more, it got me back into LEGO after 15 years. At some point I'll probably make my own creations from them, in the end it's still LEGO.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
TeriXeri replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
2011 City-Space logo The same logo of 2015 space was also used for the 2017 Creator set figure : This 2019 logo basicly is flipped and the red/blue was changed to orange. It's not 100% the same but very similar in style To me the 2011, 2015 and 2019 City Space logos look like variations on the Classic Space logo (space shuttle shaped craft with a streak and a planet-like background) 1995 and 1999 Town used a Space Shuttle icon as logo (red blue border in 1995, yellow border in 1999)- 991 replies

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Overall I feel the Rocket Transport set is very well balanced. Crane and Hangar + other building are still useful even outside of the Space theme. Vehicles are interestingly shaped, a bit more futuristic, but still fit in City. Rocket looks a bit like a Soyuz on the back-half going by the shape and color scheme. Front and mid-section of the rocket/shuttle part looks like it's using the same airlock parts as other Space sets of this wave. -

TeriXeri replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
That's a well-designed rocket transport set, nice mix of interesting vehicles and still have structures as well. The rocket itself has a bit of Soyuz feel, at least the back half with the engines, and it uses the same color scheme as a Soyuz as well.- 991 replies

For me, the main thing that would set a Castle theme apart from like Nexo Knights would be a main focus back on structures and locations. The Harry Potter line has the concept of connecting multiple sets with technic pins, and Creator 3-in-1 is bringing back that concept a bit as well. And even to a lesser extent, connectivity of modules is also present in the 2019 fire station / dock. I would love a re-imagined version of 80s style Castle where you could connect multiple wall pieces/towers and such together, and possibly even get multiples of the same set by not specializing them too much. Also the 80s really had quite a few horses in sets. And while the 80s did have vehicles in sets, for the Siege sets, there was a part of a wall included you could connect to form a bigger castle with other sets. Also there were modules that focused more on jobs, like Armor shop, Blacksmith Shop, and Guarded Inn.

Last year was a reboot of the theme with a lot of hype and announcements, included the big 6000 part Microscale Hogwarts as well, and also a rather large Minifig Series with 22 figures. However, now I read that Fantastic Beasts 3 has been moved a couple times, and now we know it won't come out till november 2021, so who knows what they'll do. The only thing I noted is that the 2 rumoured set price and size are similar to the 2 2018 Fantastic Beast sets. ($20 and $50)

Maybe those sets are under the Fantastic Beasts subtheme and that could be a reason to have a different month of release.

Speaking of ideas, it's almost deadline time for the next round of submissions . Hopefully that means we get the results of this fairly small 2018 Round 3 (5 sets) shortly after. And the Tree House still needs to be revealed as well. First round of 2019 is closing up soon: "... will be in consideration in the next review period (First of 2019) that ends Monday, May 6th, 2019. " 9 sets have made it so far: https://ideas.lego.com/search/global_search?query=&idea_phase=idea_achieved_support&type=product_ideas&sort=most_recent

I don't think it's just this year's Friends, fairground is very omnipresent this time around : Creator 3-in-1 Toy Story 4 Friends City People Pack Also the 2018 Red Creator Expert Rollercoaster was quite a big Fairground set , both in size and price, as well as another smaller Pirate coaster that same year.

Technic 2019 Set Discussion
TeriXeri replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Vestas Turbine 2018 has 826 parts and cost €199,99 in my country. -
Oh I agree that the "buy 99 of a set" behaviour is stupid and abused often, I saw it happen when Xtra first released, eventually they had to put the limit down to 5 and it still sold out multiple days a year. And then the people who buy sets in physical stores, is a slippery slope subject, some true fans have bricklink stores or resell MISB at times which is understandable and not a problem by itself. I am more talking about the problem of people buying out a whole rack of 20 of the same set at once purely with the intent of money money money.

Technic 2019 Set Discussion
TeriXeri replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There's a new "Technic Control+" System in those last 2 sets. Extreme Offroader is said to need a Smart Hub and 2 motors, so maybe they are included and that'll drive up the price a lot. The Liebherr has 7 motors and 2 hubs. -

[MOC] Large city display featuring trains and monorail
TeriXeri replied to Creativebrick Studio 117's topic in LEGO Town
Nice City, good use of elevation of road/railroad/monorails going on at the same time. There was a set in 2000 with ramp road plates included. Set 6600 Highway Construction- 9 replies

Selling of instructions doesn't appeal to me at all, you gotta hunt down the parts, usually from multiple sellers and then have no guarantee on missing/broken/old parts unlike a regular set. That's even less appealing then "importing" a non-official set from like the recent AFOL Designer Program from the US (with import taxes adding at least 21%) As for Modulars, as long as LEGO makes them, I don't see the point of any IDEAS modular making the cut to directly compete with it, (kind of like Saturn V being still sold right now, I don't expect a Space X idea to compete with it) Old Fishing Store and the upcoming Tree House are their own big builds outside of that category, they are different enough from the Modulars.

LEGO never said they were non-regional right away, only considered worldwide availability after 3-6 months. Europe has no Dragon Boat on sale at all right now, with some luck in 3-6 months, and the New Year Dinner and Dragon Dance likely never will be sold here anyway. Quoting LEGO: " Because of this feedback and concerns from you, our dedicated and most loyal fans, we have decided that regional exclusives launched after May 1, 2019 will become widely available via LEGO Brand Retail stores and LEGO Shop at Home after a limited period of time (3-6 months) of the initial launch. Compared to what? City has had their Deep Sea subtheme in 2015, and Coast Guard in 2008, 2013, 2017, so it's not like City had nothing recently. Even right now there's a Creator 3-in-1 set with an underwater mech/submarine build, and a City diving boat + Sea accesoires Xtra set. I do say the Friends Ocean subtheme for 2019 is very well done with great new parts, but other then the new parts, many things could be color swapped and easily fit minifigs if people so desire, it's LEGO.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
I do think a colony based City-Space Subtheme could work, but even so, this wave could be easily modified into some Martian or Lunar based outpost instead of floating in space. The Space Station is sort of modular so I'm sure people will expand it with multiples (or alternate builds), and unless they hang it on some thread it might as well be displayed at some "surface" of whatever moon/planet The Geode piece certainly is a nice addition possibility to some exploration or mining related sets. Classic Space used like 1x1 plates as samples, so the geode is a nice modern version for sure. At least it's better scaled to like split by a minifig tool (drill/laser), instead of those big half-round boulders that were used for ages in Arctic/Volcano/Mining that only look good when machinery is used. So while the exploration or resource harvesting (Moon/Mars, Asteroid mining, maybe even further missions on Europa or Titan) could certainly fit within the realm of a City-Space theme, going beyond that is better off having a seperate theme with less restrictions. I think to fully capture the spirit of Classic Space or 90s Space, or even Aquazone, Rock Raiders, Power Miners, not being bound to City just gives it much more freedom. Classic Space was full of weird craft with no canopy, and it just worked, because it wasn't labeled NASA or Apollo Mission or whatever but combined the idea of future exploration with some imagination on a no-named moon or planet , later giving room for other factions or planets in the late 80s and 90s. Even the 2000s Mars themes and 2010s Alien themes could act like their own reality/timeline. So my final word , LEGO Space has 3 categories for me : City-Space (a recurring subtheme of Town, and City) Space (Aquazone/Rock Raiders/Power Miners type themes could fit under the wider umbrella, even the Agents themes in relation to Alien Conquest) Star Wars Of course, in the end this is all LEGO, so you could turn pretty much anything into your own "theme". -
The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)

It's definately not the same as the 2016 Frozen mold . The new one has only 2 studs, with room for a minifig saddle, while Frozen uses the "Friends" style 2x2 studs.- 991 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
TeriXeri replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I don't think it's lack of attention, but more like a timing issue with concurrent themes ongoing and new. Space is strong in 2019 with LEGO Movie 2 and upcoming City subtheme, but even so, Creator and Overwatch has had Space Shuttle sets as well, and the Saturn V being popular. Pirates has some elements sprinkled across other themes, but not as big as space. Castle has had very little since Nexo Knights ended and that was less then 1 year ago, however Ninjago has had some castle-ish builds and dragons in the meantime. As well as the Harry Potter line expanding it's Hogwarts sets. Also right now the amusement park subtheme gets pushed pretty widely, along with some divers/treasures type sets across multiple themes. I'm not saying this as an excuse to not have a full in-house Space/Pirate/Castle theme, but I do think between the ending of Nexo Knights, Star Wars Episode 9, and LEGO Movie 2, 2019 was pretty occupied. I hope there's more room for another in-house theme in 2020. That patronus deer mold is complex enough and I doubt that's just for 1 set.- 991 replies

I found that I have this part 93168 (in black) in a Nexo Knights set (70357), and tried both to fit both sides of the part with a technic axle. Attaching 2x2 round bricks and an axle I measured the depth : Studded side has ~5 mm of depth. Even with the added cross axles, it's too large of a hole to hold a Technic axle. Anti-Stud side has ~14mm depth. No cross axles. So both sides will not hold an axle on it's own, it just prevents an axle from rotating.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
TeriXeri replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I always felt that the Sea Monster concept of Nexo Knights had a bit of Lovecraft influences. Giant Squidlike "island" Behemoth, and a squidfaced minifig were amongst the concept art. But it never was more then that, just a concept.- 991 replies
