  1. True, it's still possible that there's a big sticker as a "default" screen like the Friends drive-in. I was mainly getting at that they do advertise the option of sliding in the phone. And possibly some app or extension of the existing powered-up app that adds some animation and sound options .
  2. They started to change the display of age somewhere in 2018 The sets I got in 2019 all have some number and + sign, no more upper age limit. They also rebranded the "Juniors" line of sets to 4+, while most other sets are 5+ or higher. 2019 Technic Sets certainly use that same system now. Examples. Chevrolet ZR1 : 9+ Porche 911 RSR : 10+ Tracked Loader : 10+ Rough Terrain Crane : 11+ (August 2018 set but it already uses the new age system, meanwhile some other august 2018 sets still used 10-16)
  3. The Display is actually done by putting a mobile Phone in there, its on the box, to the right of the set number.
  4. Play features still exist in 2018 and 2019 sets. Look at the 2018 Mining theme which had buttons to press to "detonate" TNT, splitting rocks, rotating mining grinders and a minecart track. 2019 : City : Sky police has parachutes and vehicles with hooks to pick up cargo/vehicles. Fire theme has 2 new ways to put out fires, via a squeeze/air hose, or a triple-studshooter, and a new light/sound element. Star Wars: Play sets using those rubber-tipped missiles. Lego Movie 2 : Popup Party Bus can open/close in multiple areas, and has a lightbrick disco effect, as well as new gear elements with turntables. Creator 3-in-1: Carousel has a shaft you can use to rotate the entire thing. Dual Rotor Helicopter has a winch and rotor function similar to that Agents Copter you posted. Super Heroes : Spider-Man's Spider Crawler , the spider legs move as you move it forward like that Galaxy Squad set you posted. So no, it's not all stud shooters or flickfire missiles in 2019. Nexo Knights from 2016-2018 had basicly all sorts of playfunctions as well within 1 theme you had : - Many projectiles , spring loaded, (6) stud shooters, different types of crossbows, ball launchers, catapults, flick fire, rubber tipped missile, discs, and targets to hit within some sets. - Transformative features, Fortrex and Knighton Castle could open and close to appear very differently, Siege tower could rear up on 4 wheels instead of the 6. - Detachment/splitting : Many vehicles had 1-2 subvehicles that could detach and open up new playfeatures underneath. Notable ones are the Tower from Axl Tower Carrier, Jestro's Head flying machine, Clay's 4-in-1 Jet/2bikes/shooter, Aaron's escape pod or bike dropping, Twinfector splitting in 2 bikes. - Moving parts when moving the vehicles where moving, like magmars hammers hitting the ground, or the giant globlin heads opening and closing on Beastmaster Charriot, Drills spinning when riding. - Prison cells to capture or break out figures, or traps to make a figure fall into some prison or bad area. - Geared elements, like the spinning monster maw in Jestro's Castle, as well as the sawblade. - Role play elements in some sets, like beds, dining room, cooking area, bathtub, round table, or weapon room/training areas. - Heligoyle also had dual-rotating rotors by spinning 1 element near the back handle.
  5. I edited it , and indeed the Tantive IV on the AU Lego store does show $329.99. (US $199.99) Corner Garage on Australia is listed at AU $299.99 / US $199.99 / EU €189.99 NL / €179.99 DE around a similar ~2500-2600 parts count of the Tree House (2643 parts on the original IDEA)
  6. That list might be confusing, but it's Australian Dollars.
  7. Been looking more and more at the Townhouse set and it definately uses a new style of "modular" again. While it's not hinged, it's not the 8x8 or 8x16 scaled system, either. It uses 3 12x12 sized squares for the corner and sidewalks, while the building floors are 8x12. It really reminds me of the design of Corner Deli, but upscaled. On the corner part of the buildings, you see a technic pin drainpipe that connects both buildings in the corner, as well as technic pins on ground level.
  8. The top looks like a white recolored Nexo Knight Helmet, however the shape of the visor opening/chinstrap is different And then it uses a golden head , which was already made this year for the fireman statue in another 2019 City set.
  9. While minifig-focused sets with like 10+ figures have existed before purely focused on City Jobs/Space or Fantasy minifigures, in recent years, that was only seen in the Education theme. The fact that this exists beside the regular "Fun in the xxx" set just might increase the chances of this becoming more then a 1-time thing. While the "Fun in the xxx" focuses mostly on regular people, they can use those job-focused people packs for other Subthemes. A People pack set just is much more interesting and varied then what they could fit into a €10 starter set (or multiple copies of it), even at the much higher price, it's still fair for the ~14 different figures. LEGO has had Chess sets for Pirates and Castle before, and also have been seen in Education sets, so the idea of a People Pack outside of City might not be so strange either. (with less duplicates)
  10. Seeing a new People Pack for City-Space appear is an interesting development because before, such packs were only seen within the Education line. If this means a shift in City Subthemes from Starter Sets to more job-related People Packs per year, I am okay with that.
  11. The fact that we are getting a People Pack for City/Space is a very interesting development.
  12. People Pack Space People is actually a 2nd people pack in 1 year, very interesting development and cool parts included. Especially since this is also the first people pack actually focused on mostly jobs. (outside of the Education line) A People pack within a City Jobs Subtheme is just way more interesting compared to like buying duplicate City Mining Starter sets.
  13. Alternate build on the Townhouse is just brilliant, a hairdresser and a dentist at such a scale, yet instantly recognizable. Still got the "Bank" to go for a picture which is supposed to be a tall building. Wilderness hut is a nice extra set in the line (but not 100% a surprise with some of the repeats going on in the theme's cycle which isn't a bad thing) Tree Houses : 2013 - 2016 - 2018 Log Cabin / Mountain Hut / Lakeside Lodge / Wilderness Hut : 2011 - 2014 - 2017 - 2019 Beach Houses : 2012 - 2015 - 2017 Lighthouse Island/Point : 2011 - 2016 Would not surprise me to see another Beach House and/or Lighthouse set in 2020.
  14. Agreed, I loved the 60th anniversary sets for sure as they were a great mix of parts and basic minifigs + accesoires. Fun in the XXX sets so far have been very good also. Xtra has been a great parts "theme" as well. As time went on, Basic eventually turned into Bricks and More , and then into Classic, eventually resulting in a lot more parts types and colors (which could be seen as either good or bad depending on goal) Bricks and More did have sets and suitcases with minfigures in them from 2008-2013, and I believe the concept of those sets shifted to Juniors (2014-2018). And now 4+ (2019) Now I was personally in the dark age until 2015, but it's interesting to see the 2000s-2015 period in retrospect. Now I know there are other official sources for parts, like Pick a Brick or Bricks and Pieces but leaving those out of the subject right now.
  15. LEGO can still make whatever you want from 60 years of bricks. Of course a lot of specialized parts have changed shape/color or aren't available as NEW, but still LEGO has done a good job keeping basic parts around for a very long time, even if the molds get updated a bit. was in production from 1984 all the way to 2018, and even then with a tyre on it, it has the same scale of the 70s and 80s red wheels, only just recently they changed it a bit again from 2017-2019, and that's not even visible with a tyre on it.
  16. This is one of those cases where Technic panels do look very good on a System set.
  17. I feel many Creator vehicles are certainly oversized compared to City. And Sunshine Surfer Van and Vacation Getaways aren't even the worst cases compared to like Outback Adventures or Rocket Rally Car in looking oversized. Even this year's Dune Buggy and Sunset Track Racer are just huge (while there is no minifig included, they still have an open 2x2 area to sit a figure in) And while there have been more classic Town like 4-wide mini cars in some 3-in-1 houses , and some City polybags follow a similar style, most vehicles these days are wider then the 90s for sure. City seems to go back to using better proportioned vehicles lately, using different wheel types as well, 4 wide vehicles look a lot better now compared to 2014/2015 where the same wide wheels were used a lot and they'd stick out. 12 mm wide.9.9 mm wide. Same diameter. While imo also looking better for non-offroad vehicles.
  18. Alternate builds into something completely different like this are very nice to see. Nice use of parts for the roof.
  19. They use the same 3x3 transparent dish to make Sweet Mayhem's Star "hover" above the ground a bit in the movie maker 2 set. Also the same set has 6 of those 12L clear bars , a pretty cool piece to make small things give the illusion of flight. Certainly a cool display effect to see in a small polybag like this.
  20. As for Star Wars, I never said it has to be cut short completely. I fully expect remakes, and other variants of sets and figures. It's not like Star Wars stopped during the last 2008-2013 run of LEGO Space, there still were many variants of sets, from microscale, microfighter, normal sets, larger sets, UCS, Buildable Figures, to rare figure polybags etc. I know there's lots of different types of collectors just within that one theme. I think more smaller parts are being used nowadays, so even at the same parts counts, some set types seem to shrink, or just more parts for the sake of detail, like tiles, curved and angled plates. (And I mean this has happened over a period of 15+ years, not just drasticly year by year) There are exceptions to the more parts for the same size however, the 4-wide car in 60210 Air Base, feels very classic, just with more rounded curves, so it's nice to see something designed like that in 2019. The 60240 Kayak Adventure SUV is also pretty classic again. I like how LEGO is shifting to different wheel and tyre types more for overall better proportions and width. I see plenty of reactions on "set of the day" on brickset that think 80s and 90s sets are all junior for using less parts while back then it was the norm to mostly use bricks and plates. Of course the 1997-2000 Town, many (but not all) sets did get a different style with more larger bricks, printed headlights and panels and 1-piece vehicle chassis, something you'd see in 4+ nowadays. Regardless of that, I buy many of my sets on sale (20-40% off), exceptions are like Shop@home exclusives, but even then I wait for double VIP or gift on purchase.
  21. I only had 1 wrong part mistake so far, got a 1x6 light bluish grey plate, instead of a white 2x2 corner brick in the 3-in-1 Modular Family Villa set. 1x6 plate is not used in the set.
  22. @Tomik I love your altenate builds contributions to rebrickable, it really shows the building part of LEGO, even with limited parts. The picture you posted it just amazing example.
  23. While LEGO Star Wars certainly won't go away (and I don't think it needs to at all), I do hope after Episode 9, there's some room for some in-house Space non-licensed Space theme again. And with that I mean Either Space Police, or some 2 faction theme. Doesn't have to have a TV show, App or big story with named characters behind it, doesn't have to have conflict either.
  24. I hope they'd bring horses back in smaller sets, Xtra could work but likely not more then 1 horse/saddle in a set so they'd still be the same color. All in all , beside Friends, Harry Potter or Minecraft using different horse molds, we haven't seen a regular horse used for a few years now. Creator has had horses actually , in 2013 10235: Winter Village Market. Before I had seen a picture of the 2019 3-in-1 carousel set, I imagined it could've been a similar ride with horses. But the 2017 set Creator Expert Carousel is still being sold. Besides that, the last big year with multiple regular horses was 2013 (Castle, Lone Ranger), also the last year of Black horses. 2014 had a Juniors castle set with a white horse. Last set with a white horse was a 2015 Scooby Doo "headless horseman" 2019 has 3 new horses (white/grey/brown) but all 3 are Friends style
  25. Dragon Masters Royal Knights While the Dragon Masters design might not be 100% original due to Black Knights before it, it still had great shields and flags that went great with the actual green dragons with red wings that were in the sets. Royal Knights just had a very nice design with good contrast and use of colors that feel really more classic LEGO with the black, white, yellow, red, blue. Some Nexo Knight shields have really nice icons on them if you look past the transparent parts and scannable borders. Some very much inspired by other Castle lines,s ome of those prints would still look good if put on regular shields or opaque tiles.
