LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
It's past midnight (in Germany timezone), 14 July so that date is just automatic generated with the current time until there's an actual update. -
2017 is also on the bags of brand new 2020 Ninjago, Creator 3-in-1 and City sets, it has absolutely nothing to do with the parts inside, it's just a copyright on the bag art design

Finished the Skull Dungeon and Skull Dragon, both really nice sets. Dragon has some minor points with articulation (stability/ wings printed 1 side / leg joints / tail sweep being very loose), but they don't take anything away from the awesome look of the set, it's just not as stable. Still, the set is not bad, and even more impressive as a display imo, looks certainly over function for this set, but hey, it's LEGO and can be modified Nothing wrong with the terrain or figures, the black skeletons look great. For a kid's playset dragon I'd prefer Wu's Dragon, very swooshable and stable, and ball joints work better then hinges for a tail imo, even if it can't sweep. Skull dungeon has a very nice look, build, parts use, and the door / cage functionality also works really good, imo, my favorite set of 2020, on par or better with sets like Jestro's Lair and Knighton Castle. As for combining the board, works well for sure so far, the more dulled greys make the orange lava really stand out, even better on a dark surface, and the gems/flames and other transparent parts have nice color contrast as well. Sets hardly rely on stickers, most stickers go to the skull/arrow/rotate signs on the boardgame board (2x2 tile with 2 studs). My experience without the Mech or Mino Beast , or Burst sets,

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wasn't really suggesting the prints, just the colors would be nice to get in Hidden Side, regardless of Ninjago, it showed that transparent legs could be widely used and so far haven't appeared in Hidden Side, beside ghost legs. There were newer spiders in the Welcome to Hidden Side , and Highschool sets, so getting them in transparent might be nice if possible (they did glow in the dark before) , at the very least spring green. -
Certainly agree here, even wouldn't mind some more Spinjitzu Burst sets, maybe 2 x 2 packs to get the other 3 ninjas and a Spinjitzu Burst Wu. Of course more actual sets would be even better.

Don't know the exact material, but for the 2020 Ninjago Dragon wings it seems similar to a nylon / polamide like fabric , it's very smooth, yet flexible. But probably too thin to use in sails that have to stay in a certain shape, but I also see there are more textured woven Nylon variants that look more like those capes. (420d, 600d Nylon)

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Considering Ninjago's 10th year next year, I wonder if they bring back some ghost parts along with it via Legacy, and use some of the parts in Hidden Side 2020 did see a 2015 Legacy set with the Jungle Raider, so wouldn't surprise me to see more 2015 sets remade next year. The 2015 Ninjago Possession theme had Trans Neon Yellow and Spring Green parts all over it. Minifigure legs : Ghosts & Spider : -
I loved the previous pencil pots LEGO made, so a Castle themed one would be nice. Also reminds me a bit of this set from 1995 :
-
Nice, certainly an updated classic. Also reminds me a bit of 6115-1: Shark Scout , likely because of the larger visor and the cylinders on the sides. (And I had multple of this set, so it's a memorable one)
-
Ah ok, I never really watched the series/movie , but I can certainly understand demand for new minifig characters for longer time fans.
-
As someone just new to Ninjago, I think the new 2019 skulkin were great figures , there just weren't a lot of them, so I hope we'll see more, and with Legacy there's hopefully a chance, for another 2011 villain inspired set, preferably Garmadon's Fortress (I prefer location sets) But I agree, new faces for the Ninjas would be very nice as well. Would be nice to see more Ghost figures (Possession 2015) , or Pirates (Skybound 2016) , and even then, there's still 2017-2018 , which probably might have some chance in a 10th anniversary wave, otherwise, are still pretty recent.

Just built Wu's Dragon. Really is a great €20 set, not only because of the 321 parts, but also very useful small parts And the end result being over 30 cm long with a straight tail, and 33 cm wingspan is pretty impressive for such a set. The vinyl wing parts also could be used for birds etc as it looks more feathery and not strict Dragon. No stickers used in the set.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
While not a large modular, I also do hope they continue the 3-in-1 scale building sets. The current line of sets certainly are similar to modular with the removable floors and technic pins + sidewalks in the 2019 (Townhouse/Petshop/Cafe) and 2020 (Townhouse/Toy Shop)sets, and the builds have some options between straight or corner. And while it's only 2 sets, there are still 9 different 12-14 stud wide buildings possible with the official builds : dentist hair salon tram stop cafe pet shop toy shop flower shop cake shop bank building They are just much smaller of course, and open-back, but still make nice towns at smaller scale, and they have more depth for interior/roof/balcony space compared to the previous sets from 2014-2017 (but those were hinged, so could fully close) -
Expanding a boat with straights simply is more common then making more boats. And 64651 in Reddish Brown also was in more sets for a longer time, from 2009 onwards, while the straight parts appeared in only 2 sets in 2015 and now 2020, The 2020 set (Barracuda Bay) is a €200 set, and had supply issues since it's release, while the 2015 set is retired. Just like straight Train rails are way more in demand compared to curves, especially 9 volts that aren't produced anymore.

This is what I basicly meant, for published MOCs/rebuilds from sets, it's not very logical to include spare parts as it's harder to reproduce. Also I doubt spares are always included when buying used sets (where people manually put the parts in bags), especially older ones with less data. Now, as for extras, after having built many new boxed sets, there certainly is a pattern in what pieces are consistently included as extras, but even then it's not always 100% guaranteed. Something like a Magazine gift never includes extras in it's small bag, where normal polybags actually do. Also noticed some really small parts sometimes get 2 extras, at least according to bricklink, sets after 2018 get 2 extra instead of 1 of this part :

Why are LEGO Elves sets so Sought After?
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I loved the theme, but for me the timing wasn't right as I was collecting Nexo Knights at the time. In 2016, I just returned to LEGO after 15 or so years. Now, in hindsight, Elves did get amazing location based sets that could fit in any colorful fantasy world. Also I can imagine that themes like LEGO Movie 2 sets might have introduced more people to the world of Minidolls, including me. Maybe if I had a chance to re-do it, I'd collect Elves instead , but I still don't regret the Nexo Knight sets. I always look forward for new sets and themes, instead of buying retired sets, since I skipped 15 years of LEGO, which maybe made that mindset easier. I didn't expect to collect Ninjago, but season 13 changed my mind for that theme. Harry Potter seems to fill some of the gap for a fantasy/magic theme, as there seem to be a lot of female fans for that license, I don't think it's purely random that it re-appeared right after the last Elves wave. -
Isn't that a rule that just applies to the Licensed forum, where the topic doesn't get created until January 1st, or does it apply to all themes now? Not that I personally mind either way, just looking at the Licensed forum, the 2020 topics all have January 1st as date unless it was a theme that came later like Super Mario.

I hope for a Legacy version of Enter The Serpent (2015) Or maybe Garmadon's Dark Fortress (2011), which would go nicely with the rest of the updated Skull themed sets of 2019/2020 , and would be a 10-year anniversary set in 2021.
-
True, could be either Warcraft or Warhammer Dwarven Cities for sure. (Warcraft was originally supposed to be a Warhammer game). Which both also have connections to Lord of the Rings/Tolkien lore. (for example Moria vs Blackrock Depths / Blackrock mountain vs Mount Doom etc.) Ironforge does have an underground "Old Ironforge" area , but wasn't officially accessible in-game until 2010.

Officially, extra parts aren't listed in catalogs by LEGO themselves. I know other sites like Rebrickable or Bricklink mostly do list extra parts, but sometimes a set can contain extras that might not be listed. Personally when I build a set, I put the extra parts with the rest of the loose parts, and not keep them with the set. And if I'd combine a set and share a MOC with instructions or something, I'd probably not count the spare parts as the set either. Of course for personal use, spare parts are fair game. It gets more complicated when it's something like a 3-in-1 set and you build an alternate build first. but even then, I'd still consider the spare parts are a seperate category from the rest of the set's leftovers.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
TeriXeri replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
True, especially Knighton Castle and Volcano Lair were fantastic, but the majority was still vehicles, but another big difference compared to Monkie Kid it also had a lot of €10 / €20 sets. One thing I miss from Monkie Kid are small €10 sets with generic figures, however Ultimate versions of characters would've been nice as well. I'm likely biased toward locations as I did collect most of Nexo Knights so I got a lot of vehicles already due to that. Now , that doesn't mean Monkie Kid sets/vehicles/mechs are bad, I just don't see the big must-have myself at full price, when considering that I have the mechs/vehicles from Nexo already. Still, if the foundry sometime would hit a discount, I'm interested for sure. Ninjago hopefully keeps the change of scenery with more location sets, even that big Rhino or skeleton Dragon is still different from a Mech, Jet or Wheeled thing, and the actual location sets have no vehicles included at all. Hidden Side had some nice locations without vehicles as well. Of course, I'd love to see a Monkie Kid location set, instead of just being side builds, a larger version of those asian-themed shops would be nice. -

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
TeriXeri replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Agreed that the price is the main factor that keeps me away from this, and even while the larger sets have a decent price/part ratio and some use larger pieces, the fact they don't get discounts when exclusive to LEGO's own store still matters quite a lot compared to themes like Hidden Side or Ninjago that run alongside it. And while LEGO.com does get discounts, it usually happened mainly with themes they wanted to get rid of asap, which was mainly the case with end-of-life sets, or a really short-life theme like LEGO Movie 2 sets (and even then, TLM2 sets got 50% off at other retailers). Some Ninjago Season 13 sets already are reaching nice discounts here and were priced very well to begin with, so for me that just appeals a lot more. LEGO of course does have VIP points and Gift-with-purchase but that still hardly compares to a straight 20-40% off. I will still look at the Foundry, but at €120-140 full price that's a bit much, even while that's very comparable to the pricing of the Fortrex/Knighton Castle (€110 1100 pieces / €140 1400 pieces), but both were sold with discount. -

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

The foundry certainly isn't bad, so far it's my favorite set of the theme.
